So now we'll have to listen more to the studio songs and less lives....

@darrin1701 no the whole show was 100% live, but for the dvd (which this is from) part of certain songs have been dubbed over for diffrent reasons, if she didnt quite hit the note during the performance, if the microphone is pulled to far away and it goes quiter or louder, or she cant be heard over the audience.
I really wanna believe that this wasn't pre-recorded. It's just sooo much better than the other performances. Another reason are the sunglasses, everyone can tell when MC lip synchs...her eyes always give her away. So, the sunnies were a very smart cover.

personally i dont think that mariah doesnt make vocal exercises the days she doesnt sing live or records in the studio.she is mariah carey she knows what she must do.i believe that her voice changes because of more serious reasons,like nodules that may have developed a lot and harm her voice.

Sorry but i couldn't disagree with you more. There is a MAJOR difference between a professional athlete and a professional singer. Athletes require training in order to remain fit and maintain their physiques where as a singer gets that naturally as long as they continue to sing. That is different to having "lessons" which not every singer has, only those whose voice deteriorates which Mariah is not one of. There is no way u can compare an athletes requirements to that of an artist.
Not a major difference. An athlete trains because he is not competing all the time, so he has to train to remain fit (as you yourself said). A singer, like Mariah, is not recording or giving concerts all the time, so she needs lessons - not to learn how to sing, but to keep her technique in top shape, and practice, to maintain the muscles and coordination necessary in singing. The instrument might not deteriorate, but it can get "rusty" with lack of practice (like the breaks between albums)
My oppinion remains different to yours. I disagree completely with the comparison you have made between a professional athlete whose training requirements differ greatly to that of a singer. The two just can not be compared no matter how you put it. I agree with the fact that voices change not "rust" but i believe they change positively according to the artists mood/style. I just dont think singing lessons are required for someone whose voice is so highly trained and experienced.

I'm really impressed with her vocals here. U can hear a little raspyness but that's ok with me. It's due to the song being old and there is no way she's going to sound the same when that song is like over 10yrs old.

If she was gonna pre-record dont you think she would have put down better vocals than these. The vocals on TEOM were deccent but were not her best by far so I dont really believe anything was dubbed or pre-recorded.

you know what make me mad is i know that if she would take siging lessons and practicing
her voice would be like it was real beautifull.but all the time when her career is doing good she sing bad,during glitter and charmbracelet her voice was better and oups the fame came again and she sit on her ass and lip all the time or sing real bad

They did not pre record anything. For hells sake cant you hear the outstanding quality of her angelic voice?! Mariah needs no singing lessons nor practice as she has the most spectacular voice to ever grace the entertainemnt industry. If she needed lessons no one would give her a record deal. Her voice is still beautiful, and the reason it sounds different to the 90's is because theres something called DIVERSITY. she doesnt want to bore her fans with the same thing. I love u mimi!

She does need lessons and practice, like every other singer. That's like saying Michael Phelps doesn't need to train because he's already got a perfect body for swimming...
Her voice is amazing, but it would appear like she slacked off in taking care if it in recent years.

Sorry but i couldn't disagree with you more. There is a MAJOR difference between a professional athlete and a professional singer. Athletes require training in order to remain fit and maintain their physiques where as a singer gets that naturally as long as they continue to sing. That is different to having "lessons" which not every singer has, only those whose voice deteriorates which Mariah is not one of. There is no way u can compare an athletes requirements to that of an artist.

Not a major difference. An athlete trains because he is not competing all the time, so he has to train to remain fit (as you yourself said). A singer, like Mariah, is not recording or giving concerts all the time, so she needs lessons - not to learn how to sing, but to keep her technique in top shape, and practice, to maintain the muscles and coordination necessary in singing. The instrument might not deteriorate, but it can get "rusty" with lack of practice (like the breaks between albums)

My oppinion remains different to yours. I disagree completely with the comparison you have made between a professional athlete whose training requirements differ greatly to that of a singer. The two just can not be compared no matter how you put it. I agree with the fact that voices change not "rust" but i believe they change positively according to the artists mood/style. I just dont think singing lessons are required for someone whose voice is so highly trained and experienced.

Well then you are wrong. Maybe you don't get the comparison, fine. But there is not such thing a voice that will keep perfect in shape without practice or training. It's not about what you believe, it's a cold hard fact.

Sorry but your not gettig what im saying. I have acknowledged that voices change, however all chage differently and Mariah's voice is one that has kept in good shape without singing lessons. Yes it has changed but it is still amazing..without coaching. So your statement is the only wrong concept. What i believe is a cold hard fact and that is if a singer is truly talented,coaching is not required. Their voices are THEIR instruments not a coaches.

It's all live ... you can hear clearly that her voice sounds like the rest of the concert it's not clear she sounds a bit hoarse like she has a cold or something .. really i wonder if she might have an allergy or even lung problem because even when she talks like on interviews and stuff she always sounds ..kind of sick ! I have asthma and i sound like that all the time .. we never know !
