Wow I would be cool with the whole smiling and laughing thing but the slowed moter skills and seizures would suck. Not only are seizures painful and annoying they could potentially kill you. I hope these people can find a way to live safe and productive lives. Good luck to them. :)

Who told these poor parents that their son wouldn't be able to walk with Angelman Syndrome? It's common for children with Angelman's to be able to walk. I'm glad they looked around for more information and second opinions. Good luck.
"Kid Overcomes The Odds Of Angelman Syndrome" -headline is off the mark.
Parents should do all they can do to maximize their childs potential - Physical and speech therapy. Patiently work on the learning delays associated with the syndrone.
Check the availability of educational and financialt (ssi?) etc support in your area..
Get child into clinical studies
Plan for the long term care of your child
Hopefully future research will lead to improvements with the condition.
he is so cute! good luck to you both and anyone else dealing with the struggle of angelmans. focus on the happy things your child brings to you, no matter the dissability. anglemans are often referred to as "angels" because their smile and laugh can light up a room.
Keep up with the therapy it will help I worked with a child with angelmans and the parents did not follow through with therapy and they put him in respite 5 afternoons a week and every second weekend the father works 6days a week as a result of the limited time with family he has a lot of behavioral issues that are not necessary and make his condition worse but I have seen other videos wich show how when the family works hard and shows a lot of love how much can be achieved good luck
I ignored all the docs, quit my job, and each day we did Pt/Ot/ & speech. My son learned to sign fluently. The docs were right on one thing, he does not walk, he runs everywhere!! My son is now 9 yrs old, and aside from occasional flappings when excited he is perfectly normal!! Keep up the good work, and never underestimate your child, they are amazing children.
@dsull37449 That is great to hear! Congrats of your progress! We are working on finding a suitable method for my cousin who suffers from Angelman's. She is very beautiful, but she is still unable to talk. Getting some progress with her walking, though! Hope to have her walking well within another year.
they got lucky its not prader wilys

the doctors haven't heard of it?!?!?! We must've covered Angelman's at least 10 times in the first 2 years of medical school!

You can 't infect a mouse with Angelman's sydrome- its a genetic disorder

@tomlobur111 Pretty sure they meant *affected, but yeah.
Also, because of the genetic origin, its virtually impossible to "cure".
