  • Did anyone know any kid who had an epi fit from playing this when it came out? Basically this is the game that started all that warning nonsense at the start of games!

  • LoL I knew it was fast but enough to cause fits? :o

  • Oh yeah. It was all over the papers, kind of like the GTA stuff now. People were still very unsure of the effects of games and so it was a good way to sell papers. It still is it seems.

  • Oh right. Also all you had to do to see the 2 player mode was to turn the cart off and back on to reset it to see the first demo again which would of been the 2 player mode.

  • Strange thing with the sound. I have the pal asian copy of sonic 2 and the music plays at the same speed on either 50 or 60 htz modes. You said about glitches in games which are played at 60 htz what do you mean by that and could you possibly post a video on game glitches when they are played at 60 htz?

  • Nothing major. Small white/black patches appearing in places say a line of them across the top of the screen but they stay there all the time.

  • The music sounds much faster than the PAL version; if you look at the "ode" on my channel, the music there is how I remember it. But still, excellent coverage - I went back to this via the PSP compilation and it looks gorgeous even on the small screen.

Oh, and as for that bonus stage, I think you need a certain quota or rings (50+?) before reaching a checkpoint, and the checkpoint will show a halo of stars that warps you to the bonus stage when you jump through. Er, or was that Sonic 3... :P

  • My favourite of the series prefer this over to sonic 3 :)

  • LOL Looks like you are running the PAL copy (which was speed optimised for 50hz) at 60hz so it's running toooo fast! heh

  • it sounds faster than it does on my genesis

  • Lol that is never 50hz PAL or even 60hz NTSC :P

  • There isn't an inbetween version is there? It's the PAL cart.

  • Sounds like NTSC and a half more speed to me.

Sonic is slower than this on a PAL system.

  • Pretty sure the console was set to 50Hz but if there is a difference I might have left it on 60.

  • Defo 60hz I reckon - thats super speedy! I'm really into getting a 50/60hz switchery doobery Megadrive and Snes soon, living in the UK we all missed out on 60hz action, all those black borders and slowdown - boo! I'm looking at this guys site who does "Neptunes" - these white cased Megadrives with 50/60hz option, it plays PAL and NTSC and 32X games! Supoib! ^_^

  • Never heard of that site. Got a link?

  • This is definitely set at 60hz after watching your Sonic 3 bit where you switched between the 2 formats for us.

  • when you reset the megadrive sonic looked at the screen like hes was thinking wtf are you doin? lol

Great game but annoyin in places but I really love the music :)

  • I'm just glad it didn't crash ;)

  • lol well yeah thast a bonus :) I take it your using a stereo scart?

  • Yep. Cheap and cheerful from Tesco.

  • tesco sell megadrive scart cables? holy shit lol

  • I think it just needs a standard scart though I might be mixing it up with another system.

  • lol could be, I had to get mine from a specilist on the net :)
