  • isn't it four women...? anyway, thanx for the upload!

  • Excellent !

  • i wish i could get some help from people who think for god sake,i'm writing my essay comparing her with a western artist, this is a piece of magnificant art country fellas ,its about gender identity if you know what im talking about, its about how women have been oppressed during the history no matter where they are coming from they are labled as women, but of course its getting worse if a person is labled as a woman under religiouse oppression

  • man in film ro az koja mitonam gir biaram?

  • Where can I watch this film? I've been looking for it everywhere!!!

  • just stupid. what about the situation now in iran? nobody's talking about what's happing these days...gee forget the past, a lot worse things are happy right now in iran...and nobody even cares.

  • @TheCleoRox ooops happening instead of happy of course :)

  • @TheCleoRox ignorant...you have to understand the past to understand the current situation.

  • @Skipbeatskipper of course you're right. but the thing is, people forget to talk about NOW, what's happening today at this moment. It really is important to show the people what happend in the past, but isn't it more important to show the current situation? you can't change what happend before, but you change what's happening right now.

  • sounds a great film about modern Persia.

  • yay...more Zionist propaganda to divide people and ruin lives for their own resource grabbing and blood sucking benefit.

  • i saw it last night. the pictures are great but that's about it. bunch of nonsense nudity for no reason, story line had no point, everyone was pissed after the movie was done.I think this was the most pointless movie I have seen...even worst than 300!

  • I am amazed to eyewitness such magnitude in film creation, Coppolla and Cameron , have nothing over this talented Iranian Lady. Ms Neshat , You have entered a new dimention a story telling . We are honored to have you among us. God Bless and please keep up this great work of art.

  • get a life, it is a movie, it makes iran look like a beautiful country. it may show negative aspects of iranian men, but it is an artistic film more than anything. it is visually pleasing, it has a storyline but one that is very difficult to adapt, it has not been made to make people hate iran, it will only encourage love for the country and its people. so relax, and stop being so paranoid, not everybody hates iran.

  • This is a movie by and Iranian expat living in the west, nothing more or less. Just get used to globalization.

  • a fare and balance minded social film maker should differentiate people folkloric values from government extremist image artisticaly. bombast and exaggeration in such a manipulating way is devaluing our culture brand in public.film looks more like a business plan made out of Irans current political climate ..she is catching waves and making fame and money ...im tired of these kind of disrespecting Kiarostami style cinema..delicious meal made for west that is looking for democracy as fantasy..

  • This is non-sense. Iran is a very civilised country. These people who make such films are only trying to ruin the image of Iran in the world. I am sorry for the director. Never trust the media.

  • day and night they threaten my country with bombardements, they and night they insult our religion, day and night the plan terror acts in iran, day and night they lie about our culture, day and night they terrorize our nation and in one word, day and night they behave like animals and then they say: why do they hate us!

    *looool*

  • This is set in 1953. It says so at the start of this trailer. You weren't even born when this would have taken place. Not saying that Iran isn't civilised. I believe you. But the filmmaker is Iranian herself. She's obviously just trying to alert people to things she feels should change. Filmmakers from all over the world do this. She's a politically motivated filmmaker. Why are you so offended?

  • No,I don't think she's trying to ruin the image of Iran. If anything, her photography makes the country look more beautiful. It's just part documentary, part artistic license. There are monsterous extremes in every society. And bringing negative elements to light helps everyone understand and strive for improvement.

  • free iran , DEMOCRACY IN IRAN

viva the proud and brave iranian who fight for democracy and liberty and viva who support them , viva Shirin Neshat

    down with supreme leader

    down with basiiji

    down with Berlusconi too !!!!!!!

  • y berlusconi?

  • Hmmm...I'd love to be present when you say that to your mother's face. You should get some psychiatric help.

  • This movie looks loaded with negative stereotypes of middle eastern men. I'm sure we don't have enough of those already.

  • neshats pictures are stunning. best contemporary persian artist

  • you are right

  • you too my jewish friend!

  • did shirin neshat write the novel? no. did shirin neshat back the film? no, an austrian/german production company did with no iranian involvement or blood. if you watch the film you will see how it is art, not the storyline but the directing. its far easier to criticise than actually do, as it seems you've realised.

  • i think you just want to argue for the sake of arguing. shirin neshat has done well directing a film that deserved the award it received at venice. it does not matter where you are from, who you are and what your parents may have done, if you dont appreciate her directing, thats your opinion. but there is no need to bring hate into this. end of story, goodbye.

  • What the fuck does this have to do with Americans or Hollywood? You are out of your mind. This is not a Hollywood film. It's a Persian film funded by Europeans. You don't know what you are talking about.

  • shut up sesta.

    thank you

  • shame on you americanjewish who judge a movie before watch it ! !

  • how do you know i did not watch it?

  • if your so racist i dont see why you would consider watching it? unless your completely against art in film, i doubt you have watched this, or maybe you lack an eye or the patience for art. its not an easy novel to adapt into a film, and neshat has done a fabulous job, with a difficult storyline to work with she has created an artistic masterpiece. i doubt you could do anything similar, she considers herself american-iranian like you do american jewish. shame on your racist immature self.

  • francescomafiosi,

instead of messing around with iranians in youtube, go and take care of mafia, berlusconi, camora and the stinking mountains of garbage in napoli *lol*

do something for your italy so italians are not forced to clean toilets in germany :-)))

  • why no body got sarcastic aspect of your comment?

  • In Venice film festival this film has just won the the Silver Lion Award for best director: Shirin NESHAT. Nice one.

  • I am man but seeing what our man ruled society make out of women, I start hating men and me as well. But as I am workers communist knowing all these culture has a cause and that is capitalist to keep forceful wage slavery system live, makes this culture grow in all of us. And that is why my hate canalaizes towards this system which gets its victim first from our half part, women.

  • DYING to see it...another proud Iranian woman makes me proud!

  • This film seems to offer a glimpse of History that unfortunately many in the United States do not get exposed to. I find it very unfortunate because it is the American Taxpayers who fund the powers that be which sculpt American Forign Policy. The "Corprotacracy" here treat the citizen like Mushrooms, kept in the dark and fed shit all the time.

I'm curious to know the opinion, in regards to this film, of the Persian/Iranian class who immediately fled their homeland after the Shah's downfall.

  • Most of the Iranian Shah supporters who fled Iran after his downfall would probably like this film... It just shows how hypocritical most of them are. However, surprisingly, many of these Iranian Shah supporters actually dislike Mossadegh for some reason... I've seen them in LA disrespecting Mossadegh and saying how he was a pathetic man. How sad.

  • Are you referring to the 1st generation of Iranian/Persian immigrants or the 2nd gerneration offspring, or both? Also, have you experienced a difference in attitiude of the two? If so please explain.

Finally, could you speculate on the reasons why "many of these Iranian Shah supporters actually disklike Mossadegh" as you say and provide reasons why they should feel otherwise, in your opinion?

  • **My last comment/question was in reponse to a reply I received to my original question. If anyone else, with insight, would like to shed light on the topic, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance**

Original question: "I'm curious to know the opinion, in regards to this film, of the Persian/Iranian class who immediately fled their homeland after the Shah's downfall."

  • unfortunately a film like this only shows up on selected theaters, if you have to download it to see it, at least buy the dvd when it comes out, to support the gang behind this film. they r not some rich Hollywood production, they need our support to continue doing great films

  • Stunning!

  • If you want to watch this you'll have to wait. the film is doing its festival circuit, currently at Venice festival, then moving onto BFI London Film Festival in October where there are two screenings with limited tickets. I guess it will eventually be released towards the end of this year and beginning of next year. Its looking great.

You are soooooooooooooooooooooo great. love you, Shirin nematollahi

  • what you don't get, is that this brilliant actress is playing the part of a prostitute that becomes sick due to how she has been treated. it's a masterpiece! saw the instalation on art basel.

sorry, but you must be very ignorant to focus on "good looks". this is art, not beauty contest...!

  • better to be look like Golem on the outside where it doesn't matter, than look like Golem on the inside where it does.

  • @FattyJolene And what type of poor delusional ignoramus thinks prostitutes are even good looking?

I imagine if you want a movie star prostitute be prepared to dole out the BIG bucks, high roller.
