  • Decent voice, but she did this terribly. Way to make a great song way boring. I'm sorry, but it's my opinion.

  • Incredible. Such a beautiful rendition.

  • I love how Lou Reed's face slowly becomes green with envy :)

  • What amazing talent! ... I am trying to promote another yet undiscovered artist with a really amazing voice. Please visit my channel, watch some videos and tell me what you think.

  • Is this a bad recording or Susan after a few shandys? Sounds like aliens are tapping into youtube.

  • Lou Reed album version is the perfect and only one.

  • she some how manages to take all the energy, meaning, love, hate and meaning out of this song...Lou Reed wrote this song, he is the only one who should sing such a deep and personal song, Susan Boyle manages to murder this song. She is nothing exceptional, many girls can sing as well if not alot better than her. She does not write any of her own material except murders some of the greatest bands, singer/songwriters of all time

  • @shaunsmusicreviews Yup, she blows.

  • @shaunsmusicreviews You're such an asshole that if were somehow possible to harness your asshole-ness into electrical energy it could power the entire planet for the rest of eternity.

  • @rosario508 now why am i an asshole? for holding a valid opinion?

  • @shaunsmusicreviews I'm sorry I said that.

  • Why did you paint the face of the author in RED? He is not Satan!!

  • I think Lou Reed would be Physically sick! If pictured beside a MONSTER! Nae wonder his face has LOST its natural colour! OMG I think Im gonny HEAVE - UP! Im gonny BOAK!

  • @ElCapitanPaulzer Lou Reed proved in 1964 that physical beauty, phoniness & brutes are wasting the inner beauty we all have. He'd laugh in your sorry face for your lack of sensitivity. You can chip away at the outer rock & find a heart & soul.

  • she is a beautful woman god blessed with a mAGNIFICENT VOICE.A LOT OF PEOPLE CAN SING BUT NOT BRING THE LYRICS ALIVE LIKE SHE DOES.

  • Jeezes, wat een melige versie! Dat kan nog niet tippen aan de versie van Lou Reed en het gaat totaal aan de interpretatie van pure eenzaamheid voorbij... jakkes!!!

  • Beautifully sung!!! Great voice!

Only the image sucks because of Lou Reeds old NOT beautiful face...

Sorry, I am an aesthete...he wrote great songs, yes, but as a matter of fact he was neither pretty, nor could he sing. Period.

  • Susan Boyle has an awesome voice. Shame on all of her detractors.

  • aye and she come's from bonny scotland where we are renowed for our greatness to overcome the worst of anything going, and still succeed in the things we produce and invent. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU'S ALL

  • Ive gotta leave this page now because its doing my head in that there are SIMPLETONS out there who actually would BELIEVE That Susan Boyle wrote this song???!!!!!!!!

She couldnt even write her Bloody name at school properly until she was 11 years old! AND THAT IS A FACT!

    If you dont believe me?????????

    Ask ME!???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ElCapitanPaulzer

Put yourself not as a fool!

    What have you accomplished?

Not much as I've read on your channel.

46 years and so jealous of Susan.

    Pathetic!!

  • @beppenel I have accomplished the art of playing Piano, Cello, Viola, Trombone, Clarinet, Trumpet, (Sax) and Guitar, THANK YOU MR SMARTARSE!(Or is it Mrs? Ms? Probably being a lonely boring Clown) Have you ever seen 'Boyle' Play ANY musical instrument? She hasnt a CLUE! I earn a proper salary as an accomplished musician! With The RSNO! By HARD WORK! And YEARS of training! I MIGHT NOT BE FAMOUS ! I keep her in a salary! Her singing is truly painfull! People like me keep HER in TUNE!

  • @ElCapitanPaulzer Your spelling is truly PAINFUL, and probaly combined with your extreme bitterness is the reason you are not famous in the slightest...and yes i can play loads of instruments too - it's really not difficult elcapitanpaulzer...getting millions of people to buy your records is a lot more difficult, she must be doing something a lot better than you, now run off back to your hole little man and carry on "keeping us all in tune"...idiot

  • @ElCapitanPaulzer LOL at the jealousy

  • Lets see her play it on Guitar, or Piano AND sing so perfectly then? At the same time! Lets see her do it the REAL WAY PROPER MUSICIANS AND SINGERS DO??????

She is just another Music Theif!

Her Granduer is stolen from true masters! Get back into yer Council house and do us all a favour PLEASE?????? GET LOST!

As You will be in 3-5 years like all other Music theives who havent the intelligence or imagination to write their own material!

Try another career! Become a Magician and DISAPPEAR!

  • ONE WAY TO RUIN A CLASSIC!

Give it to THE "BOYLE - A - BAG" Stick to Your Hymns Please? STOP CAPITALIZING ON EVERY SONG YOU HEAR ????? Write your OWN music! If you have the TALENT???!!!!!

you bore me and 500 MILLION OTHERS NOW!

Take your 15 minutes and PLEASE, PLEASE Quietly Disappear??????

  • This is such a great song. I loved the Lou Reed version and I really love Susan Boyle's version, but I tend to like covers of really great songs even better than the original -- like Joe Cocker's "A Little Help from my Friends". It does not take away from the original at all. When Susan sings this I think of a one-sided relationship, which may be somewhat destructive like an addiction. So glad she did this. People who may not listen to Lou Reed can also enjoy this sad and soulful song.

  • @barnesaw1 NO Cover is EVER better than ANY ORIGINAL! Its people like you whos ears are tuned into the SAD-CASES Like Boyle! The Multi-Million Pound Capitalism of marketing which keeps these "Kid-On" Artists (More like Piss-Artists) in pocket! AND The TRUE ARTISTS! Writers and performers left behind! WRITING AND PRODUCING THE ONE THING - GOOD MUSIC! That any 'Part-timers' wouldnt EVER know HOW to start writing ANY GOOD MUSIC!

  • Im sorry but this Lady has a simply wonderful voice and a beautiful soul which shines through...sorry susan for some of the LOW vibrational comments...keep shinning xx

  • @MrMarkpaterson She might have a good voice I dont deny that! But her TRUE talent shall shine when she can WRITE HER OWN MUSIC AND PERFORM IT! AND MAKE IT A HIT! Of course she now has PROPER MUSICIANS AND WRITERS TO WRITE FOR HER BY NOW! Why? Because she has become a capitalist Goldmine! Its YOU POOR FOOLS WHO PAY FOR THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm a massive Lou Reed fan. The man is my inspiration. I love him. So I have the right to say she did a brilliant job on Perfect Day, but doesn't compete with his legendary voice.

  • She took a fucking shit on this song.

  • Angel voice takes me to heaven i love this song and i love you susan

  • @tamershakir YOU ARE A SAD CASE!

  • mind-blowingly awful...utter shite!....

  • @ash231266 HA HA HA! You got in exactly my friend! Lou Reed has recorded many different versions of this song, Acoustic is the best and he is so Passionate in performing it! "Boyle" on the other hand has been 'Manufactured' for a "Brainwashed simpleton audience" who will buy her music and put cash in the pockets of the 'Hangers- on' .

I do know that EVERY TRUE Lou Reed Fan will treat this as I do! "WITH DISGUST" Disgust at this "UTTER-SHITE" Long Live True Rock 'N' Roll!

  • mijn moeder haar lievelings lied , spijtig genoeg is ze overleden op 16 mei 2011 , groetjes ingrid

  • She is wonderful singer.

  • wonder if this fat lady knows she singing a homage to heroin

  • @spiros11386 Wonder if Lou Reed could make the phone book sound as beautiful as Susan Boyle of he sang it? I seriously doubt it....She transformed a negative messge into a positive one....i guess it's all in the perspective, eh?

  • @thegenie1 Also, I'd bet dollars on the dime, she knew EXACTLY the context in which this song was written....Her sense of humor is that sharp...like I said....she could sing the phone book, make it sound good....

  • @thegenie1 no it's not in perspective, she's cashing in on a song that actually means something, if you like this shit go listen to hanna montana sing smells like teen spirit

  • @spiros11386 And while Lou is paying "homage" to heroin, Susan, on the other hand, is paying homage to life. like I said....different perspectives.....

  • @thegenie1 And Susan Loves your money! As does Cowell and everyone else! Lou Reed wrote this music with TRUE PASSION! Not for the Greed of Imperialistic Clowns like Cowell and Boyle! Cos FACE IT! Thats what its all about these days!

  • Nothing lke the original, but this is almost as good

  • Fucked this up with the choir. Shame could have been a great version instead it is just awful.

  • @WillShakespeare2007

I was thinking the same thing, I actually listened to different versions thinking it had something to do with the music quality. This song should sound grand! This sadly enough doesn't..

  • @svdm83 Well Said btw! She makes a Mockery of a classic! Whether she has a good voice or not? She cant put the True Feeling and Passion into this song, as only Lou Reed can! By playing Guitar AND Singing it from the heart!!!!!

She has had her Perfect day and her fame, HOW DARE SHE BELIEVE SHE IS BETTER THAN ANY MASTER OF TRUE MUSIC!

  • @WillShakespeare2007 i think they fucked it up when they got her to sing it!

  • @ash231266 - Like some of your music. Monster of Suburbia I particularly enjoyed although I think the Filipino wife comment is a racist cliche view of Asian women, you know that "Thai bride" to them is like shouting the N word to a black person. It's the 21st century and Asia is the most important hub for economics and tech on earth they don't just export women to fat foreigners. That aside I enjoyed it and your actually very talented.

  • @WillShakespeare2007 sounds like a back-handed compliment to me!. don't agree that the line in the song is 'a racist cliche view of Asian women' - you're reading a lot more into the line than I do - it's a bit of dark humour - all this 21st century political correctness will be the death of creativity and spontaneity - to me it's all about intention and there's not an ounce of bad intention in my lyric but you're reading a load into it - i stand ticked off!.. glad you enjoyed it aside from that

  • I drove around Scotland one summer listening to celtic music on a tape I purchased there. I'd have truly enjoyed listening to Susan as I travelled.

  • Shes got a good voice. Ruined the emotion/meaning of the song, though.

  • which one lou ??

  • Beautiful voice and beautiful person - both inside and out

  • if i was about 40 years older and had no chance of sleeping or getting with any woman. i'd so do susan boyle

  • Louuu!!.... You have a very groovy mutation my friend

  • I was having a good time listening to this until she said "You're gonna reap just what you sew" and I looked at the pictures..talk about creepy.

  • version of Lou Reed is clearly unattainable ... much worse ... I really thought of the many covers of this song that I heard this I do not mind at all ... and say that I was very biased ... congratulations ....

  • god bless you Susan

  • Is Lou toxicated again o.O

  • Why is LOU green????

  • Susan is the best singer in the world!!!

  • Susan is awesome, and a real talent worth more than a passing remark by some old fart.

  • not bad, but i dont like it very much to be honest.

  • @matija191 At least you are being honest with yourself and in your posts, unlike trolls who malign one singer after another because they can. People either love or hate this song and I accept that. I respect your comment because you don't go ount of your way to call the singer as someone who is ugly. Beauty and ugliness are in the eyes of the beholder, (both are subjective perceptions). The troll who called Susan ugly ought to look at himself in the mirror. What's his excuse?

  • I guess she is showing that jerk that he made a mistake not letting her sing it the first time

  • BEAUTIFUL...

  • Creepy photos. Both of them. Susan is, wll, Susan and Lou looks like he's getting old and it's gonna happen real soon :(

glad for him 'cause he's tired for sure and wants to leave behind the work and enjoy the wisdom yrs

Respect to Susan. Real soulful performance

  • @Kacaiboni Agreed!

  • Väga kaunis! Aitäh.

  • @Saara40 Ymmärsin tuon !

  • At first, she is not ugly at all. A person with such a rich and sensitive soul can not be ugly. But what I admire is her ability to express that spiritual wealth of its beautiful voice.

  • @lemonpartyhellyeah, I'd rather be an 'ugly beast' as you called her than an obnoxious , odious, spiteful, vindictive internet troll ...like you ! ;o)

go find a rock to crawl under and do everyone a favour !

  • @robowen11 Amen to that!!

  • when i here this there comes angel to my chest. God bless Susan you are worth it every time every day thank's for lighting up my sadest moments every time :-)

  • Sirop d'orgeat!

  • What another beautiful rendition of this INCREDIBLE song. See the BBC version, too...with many different star voices.

  • Something's wrong with Lou, he's changing colours like a chameleon.

  • This song doesn't need a great or superstrong voice. This song needs soul and understanding what it is about.

Lou Reed does it better. And you all know why.

  • Such a pure, beautiful voice. <3

  • i have always known susan boyle is a huge heroin addict

  • @s3lf15h Ha, you made a funny....

  • nice, but I prefer Lou's version. this is a bit pathetic.

  • oh susan once again your beautiful voice and interpretation has reduced me to tears. stop it please!

  • @jaddajn1 I'm wiping away the tears, too...

  • She's got a great voice but this is not her type of song.

I'm no expert but this just does not sound right.

    There's something "earthy" missing.

  • OH NO! Just no. This isn't how this song should be done. This is embarassing. She might have a good voice but this is .... god I just don't know how to explain how awesomely wrong this is.

  • you're right

  • crazy sang i love it

  • Should have done "Heroin"

  • ok HIGH on music - which comes from high on heroin? well - we'll have to take it

  • Húrra þetta er málið !

  • sing woman sing... you are so mega good!

  • I think Susan misses the light and darkness of the lyrics, and sort of falls in the middle of the two with a sombre yet bland prettiness. The arrangers are the real villains here by setting a song that's obviously full of dark undertones (fill in your own meanings to Lou's ironic lyrics) with a saccharine sweetness that would embarrass Bambi.

  • I usually don't like covers. I have loved every cover Susan Boyle has done thus far. I just listened to Lou version which I have never heard of him until now...yes I live under a rock...until Susan Boyle came along. I can see why the druggies of the world would perfer his version. It isn't the druggies lovin SB version. That is the difference!

  • heroin addiction. the we is lou reed and his heroin. lou reeds original listen to that one its the best

  • you think she was high on heroin when she sang this?

  • you think she was high on heroin when she song this?

  • Listened to paverrotti and lou reed murder a rendition of this song, beats me how they got away with taking money off people to listen to it,must have been at gunpoint. This version by Susan Boyle sounds very nice!!

  • yuk

  • really, wonder if she honestly knows what the song is about?

  • @fubar50cat I agree, but does it matter ?? Beautiful song..but I like Costello and Reed better !! :D

  • @fubar50cat what is this song about? just discovered this nice song. another version, a poster said that it depressed him/her. why?

  • not bad from a girl from blackburn, west lothian

  • @TheMistermies My home :)

  • she's singing a song...not coming down on anybody, don't read into it other than her accomplishments and ability to sing...beautifully I might add.

  • Comment removed

  • Oh look, she's old, massive and fat. Let's all get behind her!! Oh wait, she's average. God the public are such morons.

  • its the power of the song

  • why's that guy green :(

  • Great voice, but soulless performance

  • She's awesome!

  • this is wonderful, thank you xx

  • é lindo

  • I love both versions. Lou's version is simple and nice. Susan's version is haunting and mysterious.

  • THANKS 4 DESTROYING THAT SONG PIG

  • @MrMotorpig Have respect cunt!!!!

  • The man changing colors in the background is Lou Reed who is, well, just Google him. An amazing artist.

  • Very strange that the man in the photo's face changes all sorts of colors throughout...from green to blue to purple...weird. To red. Great singing though.

  • @prekmom10 Lou's reaction to the song?

  • @YngtchieMusic He hates it. He even going as far as to refuse her permission to perform it on any USA TV.

He's right to as this recording misses the point by a million miles.

  • @BillyIsATwat23 No, Lou Reed didn't hate this version. That was just a mistake between their management. He even helped Susan made the "Perfect Day" music video afterward.

  • @candicehello Doesn't change the fact that it's a bloody awful version of a good song.

  • @BillyIsATwat23 I guess everybody had different taste in music. I love both versions.

  • @BillyIsATwat23 You are either a liar or you are totally missinformed. If you don't like this version of the song, fine. But Lou Reed not only liked Susan 's cover, he participated very actively in the making of this video. Actually, the whole idea of the video was his. Your taste in music it's just that, personal. There are millions who like this version. I heard Lou's version of his own song, singing live and I personally hated it. But again, it just my personal taste.

  • @kenkestangher Was it the version were Anthony "whats his name" sung the second verse while Reed's Tibetan tai chi guru did his stuff on stage. Awful.

  • Very strange that the man in the photo's face changes all sorts of colors throughout...from green to blue to purple...weird.

  • perfect song

  • she sings it wonderfull but i don´t really like the arrangment, too much musical - But Boyle herself does it incredible good

  • Perfectly catches the spirit of this song.

  • i'll bet if Lou Reed did his version of ' I dreamed a dream ' you would all think it was the best thing since sliced bread. Susan did a great job in HER way and if LOU gave his approval who are you all to judge ??

  • @paulinesmith44 Agreed with you with one exception. Lou singing IDAD would be laughable. Only exceptional singers like Susan Boyle can dare to cross the line from one music genre to another in such a flawless way.

  • @kenkestangher sorry i wasnt meaning anything against susan just replying to those who have slated her version of this song because reed does it ' so much better ' . Just pointing out that IF reed did do IDAD they'd all think his version would be almost God like. You and i can see the difference between someone who can cross the line and those who well... quite simply cant :)

  • @paulinesmith44 I know you didn't mean anything wrong against Susan Boyle. I think I understood the meaning of your comment. I just felt the impulse to point out the difference between a great singer who right for some, wrong for others decided to cover a nice song written by Lou Reed and the funny prospect of someone like Lou Reed trying to belt IDAD. If you read the most negative comments here, you can easily figure are coming from Lou Reed's angry fans who thing his songs are untouchable.

  • @paulinesmith44 I think Lou Reed has crossed more lines and boundaries than you give him credit for.

  • @paulinesmith44 yes precisely

  • she is an insperation for all of us !!! just does't she has the voice, but also the simplicity of a human person

  • subo fan but have to agree not the best song in the world for susan to have chosen to sing . She may well have liked the song without being aware of its meaning ( which has been known by millions for years that it's about heroin ) . Had she known this , and it should have been pointed out to her , she probably wouldnt have touched it . not saying she's perfect just doesnt have the understanding of such a subject.

  • OK!...Susan is Fugly and can sing...so what?

    She ruins this song.

    She is missing the point.

I suppose that she is doing an ok job of getting the notes right but where the fuck is the Feeling?

    She came a long way.

She made it in the big time.

But she is NOT a Blues Singer.

Susan gets miles of respect for where she came from, what she went through and where she arrived.

But everything she has done isn't a drip of wax off the candle that Ella, Diana, Nina and so many other GREAT Blues singer lit.

  • @hammerogod You know you really like her, don't worry I understand!!

  • this arrangement does NOTHING for the song

the original should be the only one that is allowed to exist

  • @LegionOflycans

You don't have to yell,Susan is fantastic and if you don't like it, go to the videos of Lou.

  • so obvious version...

  • Prefiro a versão original de Miriam Stockley! :D

  • Comment removed

  • @Keshmeng I thought so too at one time, but I cannot provide you with objective proof other than give you evidence which lead me to suspect that it is highly likely about heroin. Namely, RUN, RUN,RUN from the VU's first album: "Margarita Passion, she had to get a fix, she isn't well, she's getting sick..."; SISTER RAY: "I'm searching for the mainline..."; I'M WAITING FOR MY MAN; HEROIN; GOODNIGHT LADIES. To actually prove a case is harder to do than to suspect, so now I'm at an impasse.

  • Personally I think this is why we should stop britain's got talent. To stop something like this happening again.

  • ADORO-A

  • fat fuckin BOOT.

  • This song lacks the soul and feeling that Lou's version had.

  • Subo can sing any song, end of!!

  • "Write drunk; edit sober."

    — Ernest Hemingway

  • Yet another powerful classic butchered by a contestant from a bad karaoke format tv show with no concept or understanding of the lyrics or the meaning behind them.

When will the devil see sense, cancel the contract and give Simon Cowell his soul back so we can get this crap off the airwaves?!?!
