What, I think is really sad is that Katie had to be burned with acid ,raped and tortured to be friends with people like her and and others with birth defects when she couldn't see it before she was burned. But still a very inspiring story ^^

For instance, because of this show, I will make more of an attempt to make eye contact with (and smile at) all types of people...even if I'm just passing them on the road.

Putting myself in the shoes of a disabled/disfigured person, they must be so accustomed to people averting their eyes. It may seem ingenuous to you, but I don't see the harm in making eye contact with and smiling at strangers in passing. I really believe that simple gesture can brighten someone's entire day.

If you watch the programme and understand what she's about then you'll get it.
