Gold is the definition of a one race mule (Donkey or whatever). Guy won 12 million, lost more than half due to him trying to back out of paying half to his backer in the tournament. (1/2 plus lawyers fee's im sure) then pretty much the rest to the true sharks of the game. Doyle and all the rest of the top pro's took turns making Gold their bitch. I play regularly in LA casinos and I see Gold playing my limits! I'm talking 2-3 hundred $ buy in tournaments and cash games. Millionare? Not any more!
There is no way Brunson was going to call off his stack with third nuts when Gold so obviously thought he had a monster. Brunson was in the midst of a 16 session winning streak on those shows. Gold lost a huge number and left with his tail between his legs.
such a tight situation here, doyle has invested what? 32-33k to the pot, i dont know what the stack sizes are at this point(so i'll guess they were around 300k), basically doyle isnt calling 100k, he is playing for his stack, if he's behind he cant catch up . like gabe says doyle's reading gold as strong however gold(i dont think) really knows where he is in the hand.. doyle plays the hand correctly as folding in that spot over time will save u money..
Love playing Blackjack? What if there were truly a secret that nobody knew about with respect to the game of blackjack? And what if the very thing everybody thought were true about blackjack, was actually the exact opposite of the truth? Check us out
I don't think anyone in Poker or anywhere else could really be let down by Doyle's choice. I mean, we are talking about a difference as small as 9 and 10. That is the first time I have ever seen Doyle loose and probably one of the closest matches between two players. I'd say he is a pretty safe player usually, so, I think his move was the right one. Think about it. Think about how many people would have called. Playing it safe is usu better, no?
It was a good fold by Doyle. He knew Jamie had the flush, and the only hands he could have beat were if Jamie had 9-7 suited (which he did have) or worse. When you consider Jamie opened with a raise pre-flop, it's much more likely he'd be raising with QX or JX suited than anything Doyle had beat. I would have loved to see Gold lose some more though lol.
@brezzaspennie Yeah, Doyle is a fish. lmfao. Gold, however, is a douchebag and a fish (at this level, he's a fish). As Kaplan correctly indicated, Brunson read Gold correctly. This ain't the judges' poker game scene from Rounders, he can only know that Gold has a flush, and that it's almost always going to better than his 10-high flush. It's a winning fold long-term. But why am I explaining obvious poker strategy to somebody who thinks Brunson is a fish? LOL
all of you who think it was a bad fold are retard. The problem here is that Jamie is so bad that he feels he has the best hand just cuz he hit the damn flush. There's no way he was putting doyle on a flush of course. On the other hand, the bet on the flop by doyle and the flat call by jaimie, then the check raise on the turn was clearly obvious jamie hit his flush. The retard speeches jamie gives just tell the pros how good his hand is. Doyle's read was good...
Gold is pretty good. His best skill is the way he talks alot to confuse peole ,obviously works .All you losers saying he's a donk..how many million have you won playing poker? when was the last time you played on high stakes poker?
@rossm21uk first of all, he is playing on high stakes poker because he is a lucky donk who had the luck to play against donks to get in the final table... Secondly, when it comes to people who really know how to play poker, speeches don't work very well anymore. You can see many videos of jamie trying to appear strong when he is weak and trying to appear weak when he is strong. By talking in a high stakes poker table, you only give them tells. Jamie got lucky in this hand.
Huge fan of Doyle's and I think he made the right move with the information that was available to him. I don't like Gold much at all, but he did well with this hand.
This is a really interesting hand, and Gold's talk is usually dumb but here it saved him about 600k. Doyle made a great read but was just a little bit off... I think the most interesting part of the hand is that Esfandiari knows immediately that Doyle had a big flush.
@sillybulanston You're right.. just check out antonio vs laak hand when he exactly said what phil has preflop (after phil raise) !!! That was one of the sickest read I ever saw.. and there ale some more I bet..
i think jamies mouth bought that pot saying i am going to take down a pot from doyle he acted as though he had the nuts which would be queen high flush. But even jack gets him. If this isn't on tv i think doyle calls though.
No tv has nothing to do with it. If anything since he's on TV he might be more inclined to call b/c of he folds and is wrong then he really looks bad.
Actually since Gold is a total donkey that seems to limp in with practically any suited cards, there is a ton of hands that beat Doyle.
Q2, Q4, Q5, Q6, Q7, Q9, J2, J3, J5, J6, J7, J9
Doyle overbet the pot on the turn, and Gold still made a huge raise. It is obvious by Gold's call on the flop and check-raise on the turn, that Gold has a flush. And Gold seemed very confident in his flush (which he was), and Doyle read that correctly. Just so happened Gold was one notch lower, not higher.
why is this on youtube? to show all the jamie gold fans..all 10 of em that jamie can win one pot against doyle? jamie is an ok player but hes not that good
@bulldawgpoker959 how many bracelets do you have? and please dont tell me u are also one of those braindead UGA fans too? which would make sense considering you are evidently only a fan of something a million other ppl are too.

@bulldawgpoker959 im a fan of jamie gold, like OBVIOUSLY many aren't for some reason. i dont understand why so many ppl are fans of Tom Dwan and not Jamie, Jamie was tom dwan before dwan was born. @bulldawgpoker959 Jamie overplayed his flush, he's one of those players that thinks they are good without the idea that they might be beat entering their brains.
@bulldawgpoker959 ummm sorry to burst your bubble but jamie gold isn't even average, he is horrible. Hopefully this video will make more donks like him think they can play poker.
@bulldawgpoker959 but after all you are the greatest, and have won the biggest cash in a tournament in poker history also right? thats what i thought, looks like you are a UGA fan too, lawlz X infinity. douche.
1.Jamie was sure he had the best hand, and Doyle saw that.
2.Doyle is a pretty tight player, he bets 6.000 pre flop and 25.000 on the flop, so the table could know (like Antonio did) that he had a big hand. Now, amateurs always think they have the best hand, and we all know Jamie Gold is the biggest donkey/fish/camel (like Antonio's camels) we've ever seen in high stakes poker. If you 25.000 and a player raises another 100.000, he has to have a better hand, if not it's a disgusting play...
Yeah, but how about Antonio's read? How does he know this stuff? I can see Doyle's cards and I still can't believe he mucked a flush. Dr. Esfandiari = Amazing.
@badbeers well he only make good predictions when hes not in the pot. when its his own money hes betting, he freezes up. he can make all the great guesses he wants, but the best players act on their choices liek dwan, antonius and ivey.
@badbeers no he's not lol.... he's 10x more of a world class tournament player than a cash game player. There's a reason why he rarely runs into dwan, ivey, antonius.
