America West/ US Airways Merger Video

I use to love America West until it became US Airways...multiple cancelled flights turned me off. The last time I had a cancelled US Airways flight they said to "Call 1-800...to make other travel arrangements" and basically left us stranded in LAX to call the reservations line.

i went on a flight back in '08 and the sign for America West at the ticket counter was still there but nobody was behind it. now that i've learned about this merger that occured in '05, i guess some new airline that comes along can use it (P.S. I hear Pan Am may be coming back next year, it already has a website but bad news is that the company have not updated it with more information so I'll believe it when I see it)

Idk why everyone complains about US Air. I've flown with them as long as I can remember, starting in 92 when i was born. True, I miss the meals and empty flights. I rarely experience turbulence on these flights. I've only had one flight with mechanical problems, but they let us off the plane and had it fixed in an hour. US Air is not the horrible airline everyone says it is. The next flight after this had a closed lavatory, but it was only a 45 minute flight on a Dash 8 so no big problem there.

Yeah, a complex task alright. Over 5 years since the merger was announced, the union representing both flight attendant groups, the Association of Flight Attendants, has been unable to come up with a merged contract or seniority list. Way to go AFA.

the good prt is, that many other carriers, such as SkyBus and JetBlue are hiring all of the TWA and America West pilots that were fired by American and US Airways due to their excellent records of safety, experience and security. Actually it was a merger. Not a buyout. America West had the money and US Airways had the planes, routes and airports. Using the best of both airlines they were able to attract investors who were able to finance the duo operations out of what would have been liquidation for both airlines and thousandd of employees left unemployed.

I had the privilege of flying HP back in 2004 from MSP to SAN and back via PHX. I was really surprised at the level of service i was provided. Even though it was my only time flying them, i felt like i was a frequent flier with them. How i will miss seeing the giant AW logo and cool lettering but the memories will live on forever. I hope this won't be another AA/TWA! HP, you were an excelent airline and i wish you all the best in the future.
