i dont know what it has to do with the movie but liver, fava beans and chianti are all things that can't be eaten by a person who is on mao inhibitors. its a class of drugs that are commonly prescribed by psychiatrists to treat severe depression and a couple other disorders. maybe just a coincidence but i just read that psychiatrists have the highest depression rate, probably many self prescribe maois. maybe he did it to prove he wasn't acting out of severe mental illness but out of choice.

I honestly don't understand why people are supposed to be afraid of Hannibal Lecter (could someone tell me why please. XD). He eats people, OK, I'm a vegetarian. I think I'd be more afraid of Lecter when he was younger (Hannibal Rising era) because then he's less controlled and he's willing to kill for someone like Lady Murasaki or Mischa. Now however, he is more controlled and all chill.

A person who's less controlling of their actions would be easy to redeem because they know that it's still wrong. A more experienced killer like Lector already knows it's bad, but he still gets a sick kick out of it. He feels he has to do these things, no matter what, and has the means to do it. They've heard the whole "it's wrong" speech, and brush it off because they don't care anymore.
