Black is black, white is white...when you mix them, you get grey...never black or white. Right is right and wrong is wrong. Somewhere between right and wrong is compromise at best but never right or wrong. In fact, between right and wrong is probably wrong.
I guess a person would have to like the retirement, because the entire lifetime of submission would even make hell look inviting. Your whole life, on your knees being told that "unconditional love" is you subjecting yourself to someone/something/ or being threatened with pain and suffering is not true unconditional love.
Logic of most religions: If you love something, set it free, if it doesn't come back, hunt it down and kill it. Followed by eternal suffering. Logic of Humanism: If you love something, set it free, if it doesn't come back, appreciate the fact that you could truly love something without having to threaten it to stay, or come back, with pain and suffering.
I've always thought of ethics as the study of morality. It's moral philosophy. Just like there are different theories in philosophy, there are different theories in ethics. Its not like science, there arent any rules in ethics. But I understand what you are getting at.
The alter state of consciousness is interesting. Also I read this that our nervous system, the parasymphatic and symphatic system might be our way to God. The flight or flight system. The wiring of our sexual drive. Life/death/life=soul moving forward.
All meaningless drival to me... It is apparently your contention that the brain magically communicates, through a magical energy force, with other magical entities... might as well argue that goldilocks is whispering in everyone's ears.
they say?... more like people who wish to defend nonsense have perverted facts to suit their purposes. I don't think there's any credible scientific publication that has published a claim that humans only use 5% of their mental capacity.
Crude mapping experiments (poking the brain) haven't been able to force every part of the brain to react with some recognizable response... but there's no scientific evidence supporting the presumption that the brain isn't using all the available space.
Story: a family is in a car wreck all rush to the hospital and child says to doctor your mother is waiting for you, the child response, I know she is at the white castle. child dies, not knowing his mom was pernounce dead in the other operating room.
and if the child had been a Jehovah witness he would've said mommies' in the potato field? maybe mummy was just on her way to pick up some hamburgers before she died.
What if life is all a test? Every day. I think we might be on a test? A test for eternity. Even if we are not on a test, the golden rule is honable. What if the catholic religion is really incohoots with Bush and wanting a one world power? Searching is good, and reading about near death experiences. I had one and felt the past, present, and furture instanteous happen. Extreme Clamness.
every night when I go to sleep I basically hallucinate... obviously the mind is capable of creating illusion and delusion... "near death experience" is just a fairy tale title.
what... I should wear a bag over my over my head, become the unknown atheist... people got bones in their noses and ball bearings in their tongues and I getting grief for some extra hair?? I guess I have been thoroughly and officially gen gaped.
cant belive ur 47 man, you look about 28, anyways yeh i was just kidding man, ur hairs real baller son, my hair is also the same but i cut it now short.
Good video with really intelligent arguments. I think we have the ability to discern action or inaction without external guidelines but through our heart and if we get it wrong we have an opprtunity to learn without being judged in any way.
im not sure, but i think germany is the only country in the world that has a constitution structured like this. as far as my knowledge goes its the only one opening with a moral rule in article 1, directly followed by a modern version of human rights.
i think rules like not killing and the golden rule should be used whenever they can be properly applied.
look at the beginning of the german constitution:
(1) Human dignity shall be inviolable. To respect and protect it shall be the duty of all state authority.
it is the most basic law in germany, but it is clear that it is also a goal as long as reality forces people to make exceptions here. dignity here includes all human rights and even more, it is defined later.
Good video mate, especially about the timing of the second world war but i can't believe you have called the Iraq invasion (its never been a "war" so lets not use that word) a war about different cultures and ways of thinking. It's about greenbacks, cold hard greenbacks for Wolfovitz and Cheney and the rest of the hypocritical bastards to enjoy once they are replaced by smiling clones...
I think one needs to just be aware of what is going on in the world and how to address the conditions in life, weather you believe or not in god. Then decide if you should be involved in improving the world or not.
The point you brought up about Hitler being a necessary evil is right on, i never thought about the fact that if the germans had just waited a bit longer and got a atomic bomb and THEN went to war how much worse it would be. Thanks for a new look on something.
You thought out your response well. Morality is the overcoat of ethics, and ethics underneath it all is the base factor which helps people to decide on difficult issues.
Nice video, you bring up some well structured thoughts (especially for live feed). I can see how you have ran these ideas through your head a million times. Touching on the right area, but I would advise you "think larger scale".
A psychiatrist once accused me of having murdered myself... if that counts, I guess, I mostly deserve being your pick. Fortunately for the human race I mostly despise, I "ethically" understand I have no right to rob anyone of their destiny...mostly
To the rest, thanks for the generally positive feedback.
I would say that the "crude forces" /nature did help us have a predisposition in to what is right and wrong - to be ethical. Saying that I agree we do need to be educated and to think things out too!
if you are an atheist your a fool because god is real i have seen the holy one at work i only warn you one time.

Between right and wrong, is all ethics. You right is not my right. Your wrong is not my wrong.

Morality has nothing to do with religion?

i looked it up. morality has nothing to do with religion, except that morality is abused by religious people to justify religious superstition.

Morality is a subjective word. Chimps have morals/ethics, and they don't need a bible.
baconeater 4 years ago
Agree wholeheartedly with your distinction. I view "morals" as a metaphysical device whereas "ethics" are grounded in social necessity.
