The South said so when they started it, in their Cornerstone Speech and Mississippi, Texas, Georgia, and South Carolina declarations of secession that you've obviously never even read. If you had, you'd know that your own declarations cited "slave" and "slavery" a whopping 82 separate times, but "state rights" not even once. The South said "Our position is THOROUGHLY IDENTIFIED with the institution of SLAVERY---the greatest material interest of the world."

The rebel flag most of you think about has been around since the 1960s, not the 1860s. It was made popular under the "Dixiecrat" political movement and the KKK. Just check your history. The Mississippi flag's stars and bars were used by Confederate Naval vessels - square, not rectangular. Be sure you know where you came from before you tell someone where you came from. @youwood1111you have got it all wrong the rectangular shape flag was the second confederate navy jack flag used from 1863 to 1865 it was the rectangular variant of the battle flag ,the regular square battle flag was used from 1860 to the fall of the confederacy and im a southerner to, with confederate soldier ancestors also (WIKIPEDIA). and the dixiecrat party was dissolved in 1948 also (WIKIPEDIA) and the KKK never had anything to do with the design of the flag .

Not cutting taxes for many of these businesses causes them to go bankrupt, leaving only the large companies who can afford the taxes (Many of whom send jobs overseas)

Actually, the war was over slavery. The South said so when they started it, in their Cornerstone Speech and Mississippi, Texas, Georgia, and South Carolina declarations of secession that you've obviously never even read. If you had, you'd know that your own declarations cited "slave" and "slavery" a whopping 82 separate times, but "state rights" not even once. The South said "Our position is THOROUGHLY IDENTIFIED with the institution of SLAVERY---the greatest material interest of the world."

Because of this fact, the United States of America declared war on the Confederate States of America to keep the Union together. Therefore the Confederate fought a war they did not start in order to have the right to separate themselves from a government they no longer felt was serving them.

And after they seceded United States armed forces were occupying a military base in a foreign country after being demanded to surrender the base. So that is a textbook way for you to be fired upon by enemy . So yes, the war was started by the Union and the saying of 'he who wins the war writes the history' is in play a little here.
