He has played more innings (Saqlain 86 innings and Murali 230 innings). And he used Saqlain's invention for many of his wickets. If Saqlain would play equally, then he would have nearly 600 wickets. And if Murali would be ordinarily built and wouldn't use doosra, he would have nearly the same amount of wickets. But still Murali>Saqlain undoubtedly.

For the record what the university confirmed was that his action was illegal by the law that was in place in 95-96 so Darrell Hair was right. And anyone with half a brain knows that his bowling in that study was not like his action under match conditions. To suggest I'm ignorant when you use wikipedia as a reliable source of information is laughable. The fact that he was cleared was due to the weakness of the ICC.

you are woefully misinformed or just too stupid to understand the report's findings: the study found that all bowlers past and present transgressed the law - so if you were to call murali, you'd have to call every bowler who has ever bowled. the change in rules was to allow for all bowlers. He also got comparable turn and pace off his deliveries, even when bowling with an arm brace, proving that most of the torque he generates is off his shoulder.

@StfuIdiot1 Most doesn't mean best, obviously. Murali go most of his wickets on pitches that suited him and against weak opposition. And when you throw down as many balls as he did you're bound to take wickets. Heaps of players have more runs than Bradman but that doesn't make them better. To suggest that Warne threw is pathetic. If the game was run by someone with balls Murali would've rightfully been thrown out of it 15 years ago.

There is no question that he's a chucker. And the way his team and administrators responded was a disgrace. The argument about not being able to straighten his arm is rubbish because that doesn't mean his arm should move any more than any other bowler.

I dont think Murali is a chucker on purpose...but the action of his arm straighting allows him to really apply some rip to the ball, more than any other finger spinner can anyway.

being an australian, i grew up watvhing warney bowl. he is better than murali. Murali is a magnificent bowler! he however bowled to weaker sides. He also had a suspect action. All the experst will also agreee that warne is the greatest spin bowler of all time. Dont think im dissing Murali though coz i searched it on youtube coz i love to watch him bowl.

Anyone who thinks Murali is better than Warne - you are either extremely bias or on drugs.
Warne is easily the best spinner of all time + right up there with the title of best bowler.
Why is Warne better? Murali plays all the weaker nations such as Bangladesh and Pakistan more often therefore his wickets are easier. Also he is basically the only good bowler that Srilanka has had in the last 20 years or so which means he has more chance of getting wickets easier because no one else takes them
