You're totally wrong. Teachers need to TEACH math, reading, writing. They don't need to be indoctrinating people. If there's no American dream then why do so many beat down our doors to come here? Yes, there's no utopian dream but as far as human societies go we're spoiled. Agreed, having teachers talk politics instead of the alphabet will negatively affect minority student's performance. The last person you want to teach politics to anybody is an indoctrinee anyway.

Blacks and Hispanics face unique difficulties in American culture because of legacies from past generations. Some of that was the result of racism. There still are racists in this country. But having that said, I'm always left feeling that this sort of hypersensitivity to their plight and holding all white males as partially responsible for it as just plain wrong. It only encourages the sexism and racism it says they're against. I think we need to stop picking the scab and let it heal.

I think if you are going to try and say that racism affects people in the present then that is agreeable but when you believe that people living now are somehow identical to "evil slave owners" then there is something wrong. That is the goal of these arguments and that is to connect "evil slave owners" to the present generation even though any individual living now has not committed the same crime. I wouldn't say all blacks who want reparations see today's white people as being just as evil as their ancestral slave owners. But they do think guilt is inherited just as their circumstances are inherited. But I think that reasoning is ridiculous. If we're going to hold today's generations accountable for what happened 150 years ago then why stop at slavery? I think there are things we can do, both black and white, to improve the world. But forcing reparations isn't one of them.

No one would ever think that the guilt for my neighbor's crime somehow gets passed to me through osmossis but if that person happens to be an ancestor of mine then it does? Most white citizens are 3rd or 4th generation Americans, while most Blacks' ancestry goes back centuries.
