It's in a lower key than most of the other pianists have done this song, but I do believe that I like it better like this. It has a slightly darker tone to it , and as a castlevania song, that doesn't hurt it at all.

I learned the entire soundtrack to Castlevania, the original NES game a couple years back. It took me about 8 months to learn, but it sounds pretty damn good, as does this video! Whenever I play it, I play it on the Square Lead 2 setting on my 2008 Yamaha. That's the setting that sounds nearly identical to the 8-bit soundtrack in the game, but I think it sounds absolutely beautiful on piano.

Good performance and a decent sound, but I find many modern pieces like these are quite formulaic and predictable. It still conjures emotions and sounds 'epic', but its so much less eloquent and intelligible than one of Bach's fuges for example. Do you know what I mean?

@oo7im Naturally. Just look at anything played live by Jimi Hendrix, he pours his soul into it, he doesn't even care about being precise. It's all about the passion, and that's what makes it so amazing.

But when you're playing something like this, then I think there would be too much negative criticism if you didn't play it as "precisely" as possible.
