This car is amazing! I'm two years in and still in love. Upgrade your S X 4 to maximize fuel usage, engine power and brake ability. Order the under drive pulley, the steel brake lines and E C U computer from Road race motor sports. These three components for less than $1000 will unleash the cheetah sleeping under the bonnet. Also Rocky road has a lift kit for less than $200 that will allow your S X 4 to clear the snow height so that the 4X4 can do it's job.
I really want a SX4, but the biggest thing holding me back is the transmisson.... only 5 gears and about the same gas mileage (though different performance) as the Auto, which only has 4 gears, in a market where 5 gears is the norm auto and manual, and some even offer 6. Granted, some of those trannies "hunt" for gears a lot, but the gas mileage is better.
Hay guys. I just purchased a 2008 SX4 GYB. I spent about one month, going over 25 different cars. We originaly looked at small hatches like sedans ect, but in the end decided for one of these, mainly due to the fact you can pack the kids in it, take it to the beach and have some fun. As a sedan there are better priced cars out there, ie Civic, i30, BUT as a 'lets see where this road takes us to' car IT's GREAT.
Actually the SX4's interior space is comparable to that of a Subaru Imprezza, Audi A3, Ford Focus, VW Golf etc - NOT a "Holden Barina" aka Daiwoo Kalos.
great review guys, but 1 one problem, the sound. the audio was constantly going louder then softer. but apart from that good reveiw. look foward to seeing more of them!
