This is my family's spring break vacation spot. I wouldn't go anywhere else. This is the perfect spot. Great places to eat. Clean family friendly beach and great sunsets!
I have been offered employment in Fort Myers and I am considering moving down there from North Carolina. Anyone have any advice for me? Maybe give me a thumbs up if I should go.
When I was a teenager (from the Cape) in the late eighties/early 90s, FMB was where we cruised :) Also, in the mid-90s, there was a kick ass bar, The Reef, where the band Huge Peter would play. great times....
@sulu2 HAHA... I use to be in a band that played at the Reef then too.... Sarcasm! we only played there a couple of times, but I remember Huge Peter and a bunch of the other guys we use to play with at all the bars. I moved away in '94...... hated to hear the Reef got washed away by Charlie..... sad.

"I hate tourist season" Wake up guys if it wasnt for us coming down there for a week every year you would have everything you see in this video. I hate natives when I'm on vacation in Florida. I've been to FMB that last 6 years and I must say you all are horrible hosts!!! If you dont like us MOVE SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!! Its like buying a house next to a racetrack and complaining about that noise at lights on weekends.
I was born and raised in Ft Myers. I moved to Cape Coral in 1996 and you are right..hate to say it but...they could just remove the mid point bridge and all other inlets to the cape and I think noone would miss it. I moved away in 2001 and I gotta say...this is making me nostalgic. Partying at the Lani Kai, eating at the happy Buddha....OMG...(( sniffles )) I wanna move my family back some day. Thanks for a great video. 8-)

like so many American towns, this one will be hit very very hard when gas prices go even higher. No mass transit to be seen only cars. Watch out, that car dependence is going to sneak up and bite your back side small town America. Other than that. F.M. is charming.
@SargonBighorn You'll get no argument from me on that. I happen to agree with you 100% on everything you wrote! And they predict gas prices going up over five dollars a gallon by next year. Thanks for commenting! : ]
I had a lot of happy memories from here. We had a house but then the locals doubled the tax for foreigners and brought in a law that you could not own your own car. Made it not viable so like most foreigners we sold up and left. I think it was 9/11 that they turned on everyone not American. All for the best the beach had become full of violent drugged up crazies. Gone from pretty and quaint to dirty and dangerous. Sad really
The Cigar Hut has a good selection of cigars, north of hooters on the Gulf side. I started to laugh because I've driven that same route many times. Adios!
@gwazzygm It's not bad at all, I like North Ft. Myers better. Cape Coral is a beautiful city, from what I understand the second largest in Florida. : )
My dad owns a condo on this street. Right on the ocean. He just kicked a current tenant out due to non-payment on the rent and because she had a dog. That's what he gets for not making her sign a lease.

Thanks, the short video I took doesn't do it justice at all. There's so much more to Ft. Myers beach, I really should have parked and walked around while taking the video.
I loved crossing that bridge. I thought it was so neat. My husband use to work on the beach at Terramar on the 7200 block for 11 years as a maintenance man. He was so happy to get a job off of the beach though. The traffic is so bad during season. Nice video of it though.
I know what you mean, I had accounts on Ft. Myers beach and Sanibel Island, I had to give them up, I was spending more time sitting in traffic then working!

Your rain actually turned to snow in many parts of the south!! I got some footage I am going to share on my angie channel for what is a signifigant snowfall for here lol. But please do not go out of your way....if you are happening by the beach and do something for yourself that is great!! Love beach shots there is something magical about them!! ♥
My favorite vacation destination. Will be there next week and can NOT wait!
