  • Another thing is, I think if these machines are used properly, they could actually reduce the costs of teaching. Instead of having to print physical text books and waste paper and fuel delivering them, they could read the newest edition on a screen. They can do dittos and other assignments without wasting paper. They can be powered by the sun or a hand crank. And they are robust enough to last several years.

  • The most important thing this machine can teach is simply familiarity with a computer. Fundamental concepts like email, spread sheets, document writing, navigation of hardware, navigation of the internet, typing, connecting to a wifi hot spot, saving and deleting data on an SD card. Computers and the internet are becoming more and more an integral part of our species and most people don't even understand what a computer is other than a fancy toy.
