All I can see from what I have read so far is--in my humble opinion-- nobody can get who Jesus really is . Even many who consider themselves christians can't pin it down - and that is the saddest part of all!!
I hope This guy Ed becomes an imitator of Christ by the book, unlike so many who state being born again and all they got was a dip under the 3 titles in a freezing pool and no holy spirit fire.
Acts 2:38 all the way!! All the others can do as they so well please. Enough said.
Those huge old CD boxes were so funny. Ed's weird little high school mustache makes me smile. He sounded a bit constipated also. That aside, good old video.
why should what anyone else chooses to believe or not believe hurt anyone else? Are you that insecure in your own beliefs/disbeliefs? This is the very foundation of intolerance. Oh, and I don't care what Krisnamurti said. He's just another man who lived, not an authority on all lives in all times. You cite him as if he was the religious authority, which contradicts your own argument. Shame on all this nonsense over another man's choice of religious sentiments.
What kills me, is people bashing Ed for being Christian, I am a believer of christ teaching but I dont believe in these so called organized religions. I am not a church goer but I do believe in Jesus so i am christian. Yes most christians are judgemental, fake and try to be perfect but jesus understood that.
Dont judge someone for their faith or belief, I am not fake or judgmental so dont be either, that is what divides as a whole
I 100% support Ed as a Christian. His music has always had Christ hidden deeply in it. If you have ever loved their music, whether you knew it or not, deep down you where loving some of the characteristics of Jesus. I'm not saying live was 100% a christian band. Jesus doesn't like religion either. All he wants from you is for you to believe!
Wow, with the whole 'Ed is now a Christian' vibe that's floating out there, I think it's more that when a LOT of people got into Ed & the band Live, we were all so used to him being 'Brother Krishna' or whatever, that to even IMAGINE Ed being something else, it's like 'Ed's not Ed anymore'. Though certainly he STILL is Ed!!! He's just finding his way like the rest of us.
I dont think its a shame he is a christian. you believe what you believe. but I would rather them not perform the song rather than change the lyrics. just let it live in the recording.
@vodkaa1 All religions are lies....Anyone can make a religion up and make people follow....lots of cults brainwashing people....all it takes is 1 book of lies.
@llouldeng Yeah not everyone can grow a brain. People crave spirituality just like they crave entertainment and other forms of imaginary distraction from the cold stab of life.
@vingable The issue that fans have with it is it ruined what they loved about LIVE. Nothing wrong with picking a side or finding something to believe in personally, but the simple fact is that it ruined what people loved about this band. They turned to total garbage after the Distance album, once Ed started getting all preachy, and the band fell apart and broke up over it.
Ed Kowalczyk's a Christian now. : / Apparently, he grew up on it, ditched it, went on some spiritual journey all throughout his career in Live, and has come back full circle. I'm not making this up. Google it. "Ed Kowalczyk religion.blogs" ...Came as quite a shock to me.
@dobyblue he sings something along the lines of "but what a man was two thousand years ago, means a hell of a lot more to me today" nowadays. He started doing it around 2001, or so.
@vodkaa1 Ah, I had no idea...I guess it doesn't take away from the song much because the music is so powerful, the bass, guitar and drums all work in such amazing cohesiveness for this song, but it doesn't fit quite as well does it. He should just have worked in a new verse.
@Nakedprey I consider myself a christian, but I don't like the church. I think I'm a spiritualist because I live thru music and basically don't need any others interpretation of bible or what not to know how to live my life the right way. :)
@zizibeast - Very well said. I've read and studied the Bible on my own over the course of 5 years, and felt more anger than joy throughout the process. I decided to look within for answers after realizing that the questions were too hard for any external guides to satisfy. The church, filled with lukewarm "Christians", is just a building I feel very alone in. My church is my family, music, and the way I treat people. Religion divides us, but music and family unites us.
I saw them about a year before Mental Jewelry was released and never thought they would catch on. Then I saw them on the MTV 120 Minute Tour with Blind Melon and Big Audio Dynamite. Not a big reaction for Blind Melon form the audience. Then +Live+ comes out and the crown went insane! Then Big Audio Dynamite (fucking travesty) comes on and people start leaving.
I've seen them about 12 times since then.
They're not bigger than they are because of the new generation of waste-heads into hip hop.
Best band that came out of the 90's. They were just kids here and their performance was unbelieveably powerful. I can't believe they are not on par with groups like Greenday and U2. I guess alot of people out there do not get it.
Not on par because they certainly are just as talented. I meant do not get the attention that Greenday (who i think suck) and U2 who in my book are the most overrated bands of the last four decades. No group warrants the praise they get.
@ortleyman yeah you're right! Greenday is such an embarrasment and U2 is way to overrated. Live has been underrated I think, but Ed's ego has become to big and that's a fucking shame! They were such a great band! Happy R.E.M. is still around!
While Live is my favorite band, just edging out Pearl Jam... and I don't care for Green Day... I would have to disagree with you that U2 is the most overrated band. Everything up to Achtung Baby is great and Joshua Tree to me, is the 3rd best album of all time right behind Buckley's Grace and Marley's Legend.
One of the best lyrics ever, I loved this tune back in the mid 90's: Heard a lot of talk about this Jesus A man of love, and a man of strength But what a man was two thousand years ago means nothing at all to me today He could have been telling me about my higher self But he only lives inside my prayer So what he was may have been beautiful But the pain is right now And right here
He had much more anger in his voice back then. He doesnt have it any more which sucks because the concerts are not as good. Still greatest band of all time.
Oh my god!!! Soooooooo young and already so talented! How old were they when they played this? Ed looks just like a fresh high school kid...sweet and lovely, all of them!
All I can see from what I have read so far is--in my humble opinion-- nobody can get who Jesus really is . Even many who consider themselves christians can't pin it down - and that is the saddest part of all!!
