Te reason Simon looks (or looked) like Gideon was because the way Scott remebers certain things were blurred when he started dating Ramona and a lot of people started to look like Gideon to him. It's explained in the books :)

This makes me wish the Scott Pilgrim movie was so lame. I mean it was fun but it really didn't capture what made the comics good. Decent movie in and of itself but not a great adaptation. It was too rushed, you can't fit all the character development and growth in a few hours. It really would've worked better as an animated series. Throw in some filler material and you could stretch it into good hundred episodes or so.

@AltRealityVids Well actually, if you read the comics, it makes perfect sense. The chip in Ramona's head (which is actually subspace in the comic, allows Gideon to go into their minds, like Ramona could go through Scott's. He says that he actually altered Scott's memories, like Simon Lee, and that the REAL SIMON was just a chinese kid that Scott beat up for hugging Kim.

Until i got the books, I thought the film was awesome, but they missed so much stuff in the book, its ridiculous. It would've been so much better if they'd done it a book at a time, or at least done it animated like this :/

I agree that the comics are actually better than the movie, but then again you have to remember that it's not easy to compress six whole books into just two hours. Also, the last book wasn't out yet when they started filming the movie. I think they actually did a pretty good job making the movie, though I would have preferred to see some things that they cut out, like the Mithril Skateboard, Mr. Chau, and Robot-01.
