  • Die beiden sind so fantastisch !!!!!

  • Springsteen kicks so much ass that anyone listening to this will need one of those inflatable donuts to sit on by the end of the song.

  • andy lives!

  • So.... you get up in the morning, you put on a black t shirt and jeans. You go to your workplace and strap on a Fender Telecaster. You walk on stage with R.E.M.

Belt out Man in the Moon.

Springsteen must have the best job in the world.

  • they still feel the music not just for money ..

  • I love this band, but not that annoying hand movement everytime "Yeah yeah yeah yeah" is said. Every bloody time!

  • I remember in 1991 reading a small article in the SF Chronicle about the revival showing of the 1980 Andy Kaufman film "Heartbleeps", and being profoundly saddened that he had essentially been completely forgotten in the seven years since his death. This magnificent, timeless song came out a year later, and permanently rescued his memory. I imagine he would be completely blown away by the beautiful randomness of it all.

  • @PC3900 And this song almost didn't happen, as is famous among REM fans. Peter, Mike and Bill liked the music a lot for it and kept pressing Michael to write lyrics for it and he kept having writer's block on it, unable to summon the lyrics. Then, toward the end of their studio time in Seattle, he put the track on his Walkman and went for a long walk in town, and the words came to him. It's one of my two or three favorites of theirs. Great rendition with The Boss. :-)

  • thats worht the price of addmission any day

  • RIP R.E.M.

    RIP Andy

  • whats with the yayayaya hand lol!

  • The song is already great enough on its own with its catchy yet deep lyrics and memorable melody, but when you add The Boss, it just becomes epic!

    Damn I love music!

  • Love the look from Bruce at 1:25 Michael jacks the tempo and the Boss says, yeah let's do this.Sheer joy.

  • Bruce can get down with ANYone..... pure genius

  • THANK YOU R.E.M.!!!!! WE'LL NEVER FORGET!!!!!!!!

  • yup Mills rocks. I think he sings lead on Texarkana which is a beauitful song

  • I am not a thief by any means, but if Springsteen lays that iconic telecaster down anywhere near me i'm off with it...........you have been warned Bruce.

  • oh no i've said to much

  • how did you guys get your music so right and your economy so wrong ,go bruce , rem

  • This follows a vein of Americana, thro' heartland and reptition and all we owe to it.

  • springsteen looks like a laughing stock

  • magic yea yea yea yea

  • Simply Amazing

  • I've been lucky enough to see Springsteen live. I lived off Springsteen, REM amongst others during my childhood.

  • this is AMAZING. would have given anything to be there with all of that energy. Michael Stipe is incredible! This song is such a masterpiece, anyway, but to see this performance of it & then have Bruce Springsteen in on it too-this is heaven. RIP ANDY KAUFMAN. this song has a supernatural effect on me. it makes me weep. its hard to believe that he is really gone. someday, we shall see him again, I believe. thanks for this post. Peace.

  • ok

  • plp

  • Der Boss und REM verblasen immer noch alle, wahre Player! lg Conny

  • @tommieparch

These guys? Michale Stipe is very much in the top hierarchy of performers over the past 30 years.

  • @skipke2020 i know. i was just makin a point that the boss is far above most,, regards..

  • Wow great job......

  • What a song!

  • This song fits Bruce like a glove, and its scary how well they combine.

  • I would not want to play the drums to this without the aid of anabolic steroids.

  • my dad sang this song at my uncle stevens send off party in norfolk aug 09 R.I.P uncle steven you were too young to go :(

  • @Lisha506 T.M.I.

  • Excellent concert! clear sound! I can now see why you are all goo-goo over REM.

  • So how is that CHANGE working out for you?

  • @greatunclekevin ..HAHAHAHA!!!!! I was thinking the same thing!!!!

  • andy did u hear about this one

  • cool song

  • Totally rocks! Thanks for posting this. I saw them do this in Philly and was just breathless during the entire song... and for much of the show.

  • If Bruce could dance like Michael, he would be in a class by himself--no one can dance and shake their hips like Mchael, he is the greatest. Bruce Springsteen has been around a long time and will always be one of our great ones. Two different types of good rock!!!

  • Mother Creator

    ~~ Loves you ~~

  • Gee, I Iove them both, but that didn't really work. The Boss is not suited for that song.

  • I would have paid serious money to see this show.....REM and Springsteen...2 of the greatest of all time.

  • thats so great how he`s dancing on his own songs

  • Um...speaking of not the sharpest tool in the shed, @peterscks, it is "you're", (not "your") the sharpest tool in the shed.........

  • OBAMA

  • WOW!

  • Both great singers but I love Springsteen's startlingly expressive

Love this song and ANDY KAUFMAN thank you for posting

  • Comment removed

  • mmmm maybe Bruce should cover some of the REM songs, he sounds great with that low voice.

    great song great vocals.

  • Go Egypt

  • crying here.

  • Politically I am on the other side of the galaxy from Stipe and Springsteen. With that said I would have loved to have been at this show.

  • wow... what a tandem...

  • AMAZING!!!!

  • 3:56 and the songs rocks the best it's ever rocked! Great post. Thanx

  • watch?v=46CNp89_52Y

  • bruce and rem playing together! it's like one of my dreams came true! now i just want them to sing born to run together to complete this dream.

  • @3deryk

hi, they do have a video of them together singing born to run

  • @luv2bsinging38 hey, where did u see that video u mentionned in a comment? i've searched the whole youtube for it but in vain. there are 2 videos with them entitled "springsteen and rem - born to run" but i've watched them and there is no michael stipe in them... looks like a joke.

    youtube.com/watch?v=iPfbes3FNFI

  • Would so love to have been there........

  • stipe dances like my dad....good song

  • How did we survive without Internet? Fantastic duet! Never even heard of it being done!

  • ANDY IS ALIVE!

  • beautiful ...lovin it !!!

  • Bruce Springsteen singing an R.E.M. song about Andy Kaufman. {head Explodes}

  • Michael and Bruce play to the audience like a preacher on a hot Sunday afternoon.... that's talent

  • Awesome. The Boss was superb.

  • I love this song so much, but I miss the great slide guitar that appears in the studio version.

  • Epic!!

  • one of the best vids on youtube

  • i love bruce and i love this song.

  • I hit 'like' about 2 seconds after Springsteen started singing...

  • I thank god for this song!!!!

  • who couldnt luv this song???????????

  • Bassist is a really good backing vocalist

  • @WriteNRockit

Jup, I think one of the best backing vocalits in the rockscene.

He even did some leading vocals with R.E.M.

  • @WriteNRockit Mike Mills the bassist is a fuckin musical genius.

  • @RebelThoughts If REM ever breaks, I know Mike Mills has a great album or 2 in him

  • @themooddisorders Well now we will see won't we... :-(

  • @themooddisorders prophetic

  • @themooddisorders that day came more soon as we were thought

  • @Giuljano I was shocked! I do believe each member has excellent music ahead

  • @WriteNRockit he's a great bassist too!

  • @WriteNRockit

    And it isn't a bass!

  • @TheYellowdogcafe Actually the bassist, Mike Mills, is probably one of the greatest backup singers in music. Eddie Vedder put it best when he described Mills as the "secret weapon" of R.E.M. His backup vocals being so strong it is almost like having another lead vocalist.

  • @elstonnancy I,ve heard mike mills several times doing lead vocals, i wouldn't consider them strong but hes a genius in the melody department. Using his vocals as a seperate and distinct instrument is one of the most influential things rem was known for.

  • JFA!

  • DA BOSS!!!!!!!!!! good combo with R.E.M.

  • Love them both; I thought Stipe might blow Bruce away...a song like this is not exactly Bruce's strength. Bruce held serve with his voice but slamed it home with his guitar work...please do more work together.

  • 3:37 HILARIOUS!!

    OMG... Two legends on stage...

  • mooi

  • WOW. This version totally rocks!

  • simply wow

  • UNAS DE LAS BANDAS MAS IMPORTANTES DEL ROCK-POP , QUE DEJA HUELLA EN CADA DISCO QUE SACA .... LA VERDAD UNAS DE LAS CANCIONES MAS GENIALES DE MICHAEL STIPE.

  • What a brilliant performance...audience and musicians enjoyed equally...that's what music is all about...

  • How amazing is this? God smiled on me the day I first heard this. You said it - May the stars forever shine upon your face, SirCreef.

  • fucking brilliant :-)

  • Such a great voic ov Michael...

  • bloody fantastic

  • q divino debe ser tenerlos cerca...x favor q envidia de la buena obvio..!!!

    uruguay

  • What a voice.... This Boss. Good mix of different voices. Great Iike them both so.

  • Che spettacolo cazzo!!!!!!

  • wonderful

  • FANTASTICO!!!!!

  • this song would be a great jimmy buffett song!

  • goddamn that was a good movie, carrey got snubbed 4 a oscar nomination

  • They really need to tour together. What a duo. The Boss is sure a guitar slinger ain't he.

  • best live version of this song that i ever hear!

  • These are the two of the finest American song writers and musicians ever! A definate pick me up... a song dedication to the late Andy K!

  • REM ARE GREAT GET YOU LIVENED UP, OTHER BLOKE DEPRESSING

  • @peterscks that "other bloke" is the Boss!! your clearly not the sharpest tool in the shed mate

  • @highfidelityno7 the BOSS is a brilliant singer maybe yoyu should have a listen to what he has done over the last 30 years, and still going, where are all the newbys of today and there gone tomorow

  • @highfidelityno7 neither is your spelling mate.

and yes, I agree on their bassist... he makes he vocals on this one.

I'm not a Springsteen fan, but he does OK on this one.

  • @oscarboy2323

    "he vocals" aye my spelling....

  • Was that the original drummer (Bill Berry) playing? Kinda looked like him.

  • @mylariat no, it is Bill Rieflin

  • Great show , exelent duo for this song !

  • Bruce is GOD...what else Can I say?!?!?

  • Great example of a song improving over time having been played for a number of years after it's original release in '92....

  • He is a complete ponce......

  • fantastic...extra

  • ADVIABLE ONLY IF YOU BELIVE

  • A tremendous song performed passionately by two fabulous artists....it doesn't get much better than this

  • Istead of all this big brother, britains got talent and x factor shit on TV - run gigs like this one for christs sake.At least it is music, and will make the poxy licence fee worth it.

    No fucking ads either
