  • 8 people never been in love

  • I also appreciate the original song version's as well as their versions. Also whoever called Jerry Butler "jerry nigger butler" in one of the older video comments is a fuckin idiot

  • What is it with this Black vs Brown bullshit it's just music man calm down. I'm sure this band asked the OG artists permission to remake the songs so they didn't steal it. And although Doo-wop, R&R, R&B, Soul, Funk, Rap,& Hip-Hop is music created by Blacks doesn't mean that only they can listen to it music is universal and can be appreciated by anyone regardless of race, color, creed, etc.

  • Romeo Prado's horn arrangements are excellent on this tune, I had the pleasure to meet him shortly after the Greatest Hits CD was release.....good people.....may you rest in peace brother your journey has ended but your music will last a lifetime....

  • My girl don't know nothing about oldies

  • One love god is love

  • Just because there black, I see a lot of black people in Mexican restaurants, so what and while we're at it the last oldie concert I went to the lead singer of the band the floaters gave much love to the Chicano people and said that with out us they would no longer be doing concerts because there music would be dead, when's the last time you've been to a concert to support black soul, because I have been to many and I've yet to see one black person at any of them!

  • @ luvureally it doesn't matter you moron just because a black person produced it doesn't mean only black people can sample it! Again please stop hating just because Chicanos do it better! that's like saying black people can't eat in Mexican restaraunt

  • @reregirl86 Difference is we still call it Mexican food. We don't attach our name to it or claim we created it. As far as these guys or any other chicano doing soul better? LOL LOL LOL LOL!! I live on east coast, when ever soul legends come to down Blacks pack the house. Majority of Blacks live in the east, west has very few Blacks compared to east and Blacks living west and coming back to south in huge numbers.

  • PLEASE ENJOY THE MUSIC . GET OFF THE BLACK BROWN CRAP .. THESE YOUNG ONES TODAY DON'T KNOW WHAT CIVIL RIGHT WHERE BECAUSE THEY WERN'T EVEN BORN ..LOVE THE PHILLY SOUND DETRIOT SOUND WEST COAST DOO WOP AND THE REST OF YOUNG AMERCIA ...

  • Besides being from east los, playing this shit when ima headed back to the alhambra hills using the arizona avenue as a route is fucking majic, especially cause im out of work and its dark and im headed torwards my resting place ;)

  • These stupid black rappers make remakes all day long, like 50 cent, snoop dogg, dr dre, puff daddy, the list would go on and on, but you colored folks don't bitch about that! Hower as soon as a Mexican does it you start bitching, I think your jealous because Mexicans do it better! Maybe we intimidate you! How bout black driving around in low riders since when did that become a BLACK THANG oh it became a BLACK THANG when ice cube did it in boys in the hood

  • @SuperStomps1 Do it better? LMAO LMAO! The rappers you mentioned are Black American and they came from the culture that produced soul/r&b/funk/R&R, it is their cultural legacy, so nothing strange about them sampling it. Why do chicanos have to constantly do the same? Not their culture. Those ridiculous clown ass cars have nothing to do with our music. They played no part in the creation of rap or any other form of Black music.

  • @SIRDICKification fool you're an embarrassment thats on the real,

  • i love all the songs that they sing

  • Comment removed

  • Ya they are shit

  • the THEE Midnighters are the SHIT!!!!

  • this version has more soul ......dont care what anyone says

  • Where the hell is jerry butlers following? Pales in comparison to Willie G's following.

  • Love both versions! Jerry's is classic but so is this- they're both well done just different and that's not a bad thing! Shows how creative talented people can be with the same basic lyric & music. Don't think it's a competition!

  • @edie19591 AMEN HOMIE..PEOPLE NEED TO LISTEN AND ENJOY

  • This is a great rendition of a tune from Jerry B, and credit is due here for doing it justice.

  • Jerry Butler was great but give credit where credit is due....the man's voice is simply orgasmic......to each his own

  • DEDICATED TO MY HUSBAND SPEEDY FROM YOUR WIFE LONELY GIRL......... THIS IS HOW YOU MADE ME FEEL AT ONE TIME AND ONCE AGAIN WE ARE IN THE SAME BOAT JUST KNOW THOUGH YOUR THE ONLY ONE I WANT VATO!!!!!

  • WHY YOU GOTTA HATE?

  • Yes but the Midnighters take this song to the Chicanos who still listen to the music today!!!! Viva La Raza

  • @adrian91706 Hey what is the proper name for this genre-- I call it Lowrider music--some call this Northern Soul or Popcorn--just like Swamp Pop and Beach Music, this is a legit genre for all to enjoy.

  • Listening to Willie G's music brings back the good times in L.A., This is one of my favorites. It's a heartbreaker even now. Suave

    YoYo, Duprees of West L.A. (1965 - 1968)

  • one of my all time favorites.. and the memories live on!! por vida..

  • @ESALONELYGIRL1" SORRY BUT THIS IS THE CHICANO SOUND"

A Chicano sound based on the original BLACK sound! R&B, soul, funk is BLACK music. If Willie G and the others had not heard the original BLACK artist they would not have been doing this kind of music. The "Brown side" of town played no part in the creation of r&b/soul. Thank the "mayates".

  • @luvureally haha yes we do owe alot to the black community...im not rasist but honestly us chicanos are the only ones keeping this great music alive!!!! the "mayates" as you say are playin the shityest music now...and fyi soul exist every where and in the 60's and 70's mexico had its own soul....and yes we thank all those artist black white mexican chilen cuban because they all play a part in souland as for we didnt have any say in it your wrong because mexican soul goes back....way back......

  • @gato11764 There is great music -Ledisi, Ryan Shaw, Anthony Hamilton, Maxwell, Rhaheem Devaughn, Heather Hedley, Leela James, Janelle Monae, Chrissette and others you just don't know about them. Mexicans started playing soul AFTER they heard Blacks do it. Like I said soul musics origins are in the Black church, not too many Mexicans came up singing in the Black church. That is where the best soul singers came from. Up load it, download, implode it! Just don't call it Chicano.

  • @luvureally There is actually a lot of truth to what you write. I can tell you know your music history

  • @luvureally oh and another thing i am in eternal debt with all my colored brothers who have done there part in the creation of this blessed music and i thank them not you ass hole

  • @gato11764 If you're trying to be funny we are not colored! Haven't been for 60 years. Ass wipe you don't have to thank me for anything. I just calling out your ass and anybody else who calls classic soul/r&b Chicano. Can't possibly be Chicano music.

  • @luvureally Lol dude ive seen you on an another vid arguing it up on the same subject, is this what you do all day brody?, X)

  • @luvureally when did WE call it OURS? someone is a (whisper) racist, consider it homage you stupid cunt, none of the artists mentioned above and below black or green or brown or blue intended for you to come to such POLITICALLY correct conclusions, and like i said , i bet this aint your only argument with AVERAGE peeps on the subject cause ive seen you on other vids dissing on mexicans , so calm your tits betch ;) go suck on a titty get your anger out.

  • @SenorPackABowl politically correct? stop parroting phrases you obviously don't know the meaning of! Plenty of your cousins refer to classic soul music as chicano oldies!. Is that politically correct?! Nothing chicano about classic soul. Calm yourself and go blow your horn lil boy blue.

  • @luvureally lil blue boy?, it must feel exhilerating pointing out the short coming of others, or ignorant assholes you deal with on a regular day to day basis seeing as you dedicate your time to being a DICK on the net or CUNT , wanna put people down , be a politician cause thats where the cake is, suck my dick, jerk me off, swallow my nut wipe yourself off and grab some quarters from the bottom drawer for the cab back to gofuckyourselfville cause i aint talking to you no mo ROOTS..

  • @SenorPackABowl Yawn. Typical reaction when you don't have legit argument when presented with facts.

  • Superbe version que je decouvre ,je connaissais celle de Sony childe et de jerry butler♥♥♥

    Merci pour la decouverte

    Soulman

  • Aki Aleong is the best version , then Jerry Butler, then Sonny Childe, then this. IMAO

  • sya KHEMULUXONS , i listened to Jerry Butlers version { the original } it was very nice . but i think i like the midniters a little more because of the brass section . other wise i like them both ....... thank you .

  • Jerry Butler sounds like Barry White. It must be a black thing. The Lil Willie G verison is a chicano style that you wouldn't understand. Your right it is a culture thang.

  • how did they steal their music since when did music become a black thang, whites blacks latin have good music, music been here 4 ever, that racism shit is retarded, the latin race is growing like crazy right now, latinos r growing more than any race right now in america, N i got love 4 every race, stop hating because u have no talent

  • filthy mexicunt SHITSKINS steal the mayates music because SHITSKINS have no talent, only deception and violence! MASS DEPORT SHITSKINS NOW!! NO MORE TROUBLE!

  • A great group from the 60s if you like that style of music. They never got got the recognition they deserve. I could listen to them all day everyday. I love them.

  • Jerry Butler did it first and better.

  • @KhemuLuxons this is not the one that jerry buttler did his is the town i live in

  • @21armand "Giving Up On Love" was done by Jerry Butler he was also the first to record "Never Gonna Give You UP", "The Town I live In" by McKinley Mitchell.

  • @KhemuLuxons i got you the frist time didnt have to say it twice just didnt thing that Jerry buttler did it frist but if you say so

  • @KhemuLuxons and i also fell that my chicano brothers the midniters sing it better just heard jerry butlers like the song just dont like how he sings it

  • @21armand I believe my Soul brother gave it the soul and depth it was meant to have. He gave it a soulful sophistication & the backing vocals add even more soul. Thee Midniters must have thought it also because they used the same arrangement and the lead attempts to use Butler's phrasing & ad-libs. Butler recorded "Giving Up" in '63, Thee Midniters signed their first contract in '65,

  • @KhemuLuxons ohh yea Jerry was the man but just like how thee midniters sing his songs i like Jerry Butler but fell that Lil Willie G lead vocals of the Midniters has a better tone in the songs they got from him

  • @21armand To me Lil Willie G doesn't have that gospel feel that makes soul music soulful. We are all entitled to our opinion and there is so much music out there for us all to to enjoy and have our favorites. My brother and I have been arguing for years over who was better Sam Cooke or Jackie Wilson.

  • @KhemuLuxons ohh yea we all are entitled to that one for me dont konw how much longer i will have that right but thats a different matter, but also i think i like them alot to cause as Chicanos we dont have to many old r&b gruops like they are like one of thee only ones and they also wrote alot of there own songs, so have to give it up to them for there sound.

  • @21armand Enjoy the music and I hope that things work out well for you. Black and Brown warriors need to be home with their families to take the load off the old heads like me. LOL

  • @KhemuLuxons i always try to enjoy at times music helps me in alot of ways so i always enjoy the music. and i hear you about staing home we need to unite

  • @KhemuLuxons

Whoever says Jerry Butler's version of this song is better was:

    1. not 15 growing up in mid-town L.A. during that magical time of the late 60's,

    2. in love for the very first time and very broken hearted; and

    3. most importantly, not of mexican-american heritage. I guess you just had to be there so that when you hear this version you simply could not compare it to another.

  • @sogholi Whoever says Thee Midniter's version is better doesn't know about or understand soul music. Doesn't realize the important role Jerry Butler has played in the history of soul/r&b. And you are not a Black person who grew up in the Black church 'cause you would understand where soul music came from and what it really is. I guess everyone's preferences are shaped by their culture.

  • @KhemuLuxons SHUT UP NIGGA FUCK JERRY NIGGER BUTLER

  • @pluser17 Son without the likes of "JERRY NIGGER BUTLER" you wouldn't have your beloved chicano soul.

  • @KhemuLuxons THEN WHY ARE YOU LISTENING TO THIS ONE? WATCH JERRY BUTLER'S VERSION.

  • @TheEstela1970 Because this one also came up also while researching the original. And I do have the option of listening and COMMENTING. And believe me, I frequently listen to the Butler version.

  • This is music at it's finest!!! HANDS DOWN!!!

  • "SAMPLED BY THE ROULETTE REGIME"

  • fucking cholos, Thee Midniters werent about being cholo ass paisas, they were about rock and roll, and R&B, not pretending like you're american me! Mexicans were garage heads back in the 60's not fucking cholos, were did you guys go wrong?

  • HOW did they get Their Garages in their Heads I don't understand it AYE!!!...Maybe MY Head Shrinker Can explain that One to Me it behooves Me maaaaaaan!!!!!!!! -)
