so much unnecessary conflict between the nge and ttgl fandoms. i love gurren lagann, it changed my view on life, so i'm sure i could be considered a fanboy. rebuild of evangelion 2.0 was played in theatres here in canada tonight, and i watched it. it was terrifying and wonderful, and i am seriously interested in seeing the rest of the series. i think it's healthy to appreciate the awesome and good, and the dark and disturbing. that's what true beauty and humanity is all about. /srs bsns :P

Say it the MANLY way please, that's one thing I never got about subs that people claim was "so gracious".

"WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM... KIIIICK!" better because it flat out sounds more awesome/funny and it relates to the same line.

"HANDS OFF MY LITTLE BROTHER PUNCH!!!" That one sounds way better, because its not only showing how protective Kamina is of Simon, it doesn't sound like he's merely addressing the machine that Simon pilots, its a sign of faith and acknowledgement.

I get it why you said it's a mindscrew because it relies on symbolism so much that the immediate response is "What the heck was that?" Example-It involves a giant robot being transformed into the tree of life by a set of nine other giant robots and a huge tuning fork, then getting plunged into the vagina-forehead of a giant alien who has taken on the form of the male lead's mother's clone. This is to save the world. Apparently.

dude, Gurren Lagann's symbolism actually means something, the drill symbolizes not only the genetic spiral and the universal spiral, but the logarithmic spiral as well. All the "symbols" in Eva are just random references to the Bible with no real connection to eachother. And besides, TTGL is infinetely more epic than Eva

i think partly because all of the characters were so incredible fucked up in the head and thus easier to relate to than cliche optimistic hero types who power up vs bad guys and win using love friendship and all that bs.

ya true, but just relating to a character isn't enough to make them a good character, after you relate to them, they need to distinguish themselves, become more than just a "relatable character." If no real ideas or symbols back the character then their purpose in the storyline is insignificant.

Kittan NEVER had shades.

Simons' shades during the last episodes were symbolic of both Kamina and Kittan;

Kamina being the original V-shaped glasses

Kittan being the new tri-shaped glasses.

Which means Simon has taken ideals of both Kamina and Kittan thus the combo star-glasses.
