I hate it when people say. George Mallory was an idiot, he couldn't even make it to the top. -10C isn't cold. the fact that Mallory died in the mountain does not prove that he did nor he did not reached the summit, with all do respect to the experts and to all mountain climbers, I DO BELIEVE HE REACHED THE SUMMIT and should be noted as is, the fact that couldn't get back alive does not take anything away from what he did, he was a climber way ahead of his time, if he hadn't reached the summit, can anyone say where is Ruth's picture?

It's clear Mallory made it.... the photo of his wife wasn't in his wallet. As supposedly he said he would place it on the summit. When his dead body was found, the search group had no sign of the picture. He didn't just throw it away, too.

@sujithra00 "Paths of glory" is fiction - and not very good one. If you really want to read a great book about Mallory try "The wildest dream" by Peter and Leni Gilman or try the Salkeld/Holzel books. Forget about Messner, however.

Why would you say something so absurd as that? I don't know Conrad Ankler any more than you know George Mallory but Ankler obviously has won his spurs the same way Mallory did...by Climbing. Damn near a century separates these two men but their motivation for going for Everest is the same. Which is as Mallory said, "because it is there."
