@SardaukarPrime hehe, i actualy did that on purpose, wanted to fit veriety into it as this regeon can look completely different at different times and in different weather so i included that since its a vid about the regeon, i also kind of like the occasional ash storm when playing, gives the game a sense of danger and atmosphere when traversing harsh terain. its not like i am getting real ash in my face and sand in my shoes ;)
the while map of Morrowind was massively awesome. So much terrain variety and it was unpredictable giving the player a sense of adventure whether they followed the road or went off it.
Aaaah, good times. I remember Morrowind as a real RPG, huge world, whole bunch of skills, interesting plot and atmosphere. Plus, it was perfectly playable without tone of mods, unlike Oblivion, which is basically random-fantasy mod template.
@Andriej69 Having a standard fantasy setting wasn't really the issue IMHO; it's just that they failed miserably to make it interesting on it's own. There are so many issues that conspire to make it a lesser game. Fast travel. Less skills. Scaling enemies who spawn armor and weapons depending on your level. You can't have a purely non-magical character. A compass that works like radar. A map that acts like a GPS. Crappy coding. I have to load my system with all sorts of mods to make it enjoyable.
@Ig99 I strongly disagree, fast travel and "gps map" you mentioned were big improvements in my opinion. Wandering around trying to find a cave entrance in the middle of nowhere was annoying as hell, fast travel option saves a lot of time, there's still much walking to do in Oblivion. As for the rest, you're perfectly right. I still think that setting and plot were bad, because original and fresh ideas from Morrowind were replaced by cliche, both in story and world. Oblivion wasn't so bad, but...
@Andriej69 It's that my problem with the GPS map was that it broke immersion. If the character said "let me mark it on your map", and there was a scribbled X on in rather than a floating waypoint. It made me feel like I was playing a game, rather than playing through a sweeping fantasy epic. I liked tramping around the countryside looking for whatever. It did get bothersome and time consuming, yes, but I felt like an adventurer.
It's just if more quest gave more clear directions. Continued-->
@Andriej69 My issue with fast travel was that it made the game feel smaller. Since there was a Mage Guild in EVERY city, as opposed to Morrowind, they could have maintained the Guild teleporters. Also mark and recall spells or carriages. Or an option to turn it off. I know it's a big help, it's just not for me. The point is, they could have had more immersive means for quick travel. Continued-->
@Andriej69 That said, having a more traditional fantasy settting wasn't the problem. It could have been interesting on it's own merits. The cities had there unique designs, but lacked character. The dungeons had good atmosphere, but they were designed by one guy. I'm just saying that having a Gondor style setting wasn't automatically a bad idea, just that they had to work hard to prevent it from being cliche. Which they didn't. It wasn't bad, just far from great. Continued-->
@Andriej69 I'm hope I don't sound like I'm trying to pound you into submission with my opinions, I do understand your how you feel, I'm just trying to explain myself. Sorry for the long-ass message. I'm bad at this.
@Ig99 Setting isn't the worst on it's own, but plot and characters themselves are really poorly developed and forgettable, especially with protagonist, you're not The One, but just helper of The One, plus that escorting missions at the end( damn it I hate them). Story ( including some main quests) is the biggest downside. As for your reply, don't fell bad about it, this characters limit on Youtube is really fucking annoying sometimes... Cheers
@Andriej69 Exactly. They took a template, and built very little of their own stuff on it. Another issue is that your sort of handcuffed to the main quest, Morrowind's was very unobtrusive. It's hard goofing off when the Emeperor died right before you, and said that the fate of the world hinged on my involvement. I certainly don't hate Oblivion, it's just that so much more could have been done with it. Thank God for the TESCS and everyone who uses it.
@yarow122 not be high enough lvl maybe, i was on my lvl 46 bard when i made this, needed a high lvl so some of the more interesting mobs would spawn :)
@spacecoke 46? Wow... I thought I was way too high at 37. Of course, I don't have any mods, so I 1 hit pretty much everything in the game at this point, even on 100 difficulty.
@QuilavaKing at 46 the large dragons in giants ultimate mod are still very very hard to kill on 100 difficulty, if i remember correctly it took about 20 mins to pound down its health. all the vanila mobs were 1 hit kills so giants ultimate mod is a must if you 1 hit kill everything and would like more epic fights, there are like 200+ new mobs added to the leveled lists, i am not sure what lvl they go up too though.
@spacecoke I really don't like a lot of the enemies I've seen... Is there any way to turn of specific enemies? Especially the Giant Spiders... I can't play it if there are spiders. lol
@QuilavaKing you can remove whatever ones you want in the construction set, i liked the spiders, it already had beetles, why not spiders xD there are quite a few different types of spiders in the mod, the one in this clip is the biggest type i have seen in the mod
@spacecoke Oh yeah, I forgot you could delete them like that.
I'm scared of spiders to the point that I can't even look at them, even in video games, so that's why I want to remove them. Other bugs don't bother me though. (Although, I've always thought that giant bugs are really boring enemies lol. Not very creative.)
3 Thoughts. I am loving the Places of Morrowind Series, the fact you explore Tamriel Rebuilt for it as well, and then I also noticed your interest in certain youtubers concerning science and evolution. Major kudos =)
