  • @IzZyTX1991 its a measurement how much fuel the engine can inject, with a s/c or turbo, more air is being thrown in the engine so you need some injectors that can give enough fuel to combust with all this new air. a regular car might come with like 16lb or 20lb

  • I stopped by a Chevy dealer the other day and we're looking at 180k to start. In about five or five and a half years i will own a ZR1.

  • Five years from now the prices the dwindle and the newer and faster models will be available. So save your money until something better then the ZR-1 unveils.

  • I honestly don't think they would release anything open to the public as fast as the ZR-1. They already had a limited number of them. The ZR-1 shattered track records that world circuit cars were putting up. Anything faster than that must he rocket propelled haha

  • ZR1 is an amazing performance car, but they also said that about the 2003 Z06. Technology betters itself every second, so I wouldn't be surprised if they come out with a stronger, faster, and lighter ZR-1.

  • I'll leave it as this. How many cars run true low to mid 12's stock? Not many and the ones that do how much to they cost? The GT500 is a hell of a car for 45k and can be turned into a 1/4 monster for very little!

  • I love mustangs but the new shelby's are turds. Ive ran a couple at the track and always smoke them. the best they pull are high 12's. they need to be lighter and and with much more low end torque...id rather have a z06. now thats N/A power!

  • well, my car is a 68 Mustang but im putting 435 to the wheels on motor and has ran a best of 11.05@122 and 10.10 @129 on a 150hot. but then again my car weights 3200lbs with me in it. see, It all comes down to power to weight. if the new fords could be much lighter and more cubic inches, then it would have lot of room to brag

  • Remember your car isn't stock if you're trying to compare HP to weight ratio. The GT500 stock (like your 68 back in the day) is a great starting point. With the GT500 and a few bolt on mods (no internal engine work) you can easily get in to the 11's 10's and even 9's proven by Evolution Performance ... BWT impressive times!

  • I know that. but what Im saying is that everything comes down to power to weight ratio. but back in the day, my 68 didnt have a blower like the shelby. they have gotten the Z06 into the 10's on motor with a tune and DR's. the GT500 is impressive but still not what i would expect from a 5.4 with an SC...

  • let's see... no brake fade, heat soaking, heavy nose dive. GTO's handle better, independent rear suspension and alot nicer interior. Oh yeah alot cheaper. Gt500 is faster in a straight line but thats it.

  • I dont think it was US standards. From what they told us at work it was the dead sales on it, and that is was not a desirable car. Heck they had new ones on the lot 7000 off and still couldnt sell them.

  • Both poor sales and standards. I think the poor sales came from misguided advertising. My early brochures only mention competing with bmw, which it was a good competitor. The media compared it to the mustang which it was not intented to sell against, poor timing and the media were the down fall of this car. Atleast the resale on my 04 is higher than my friends o5 mustang gt.

  • Yep your car is worth about 12,050 bucks and the 2005 mustang is worth 11,625. But you paid 33,190 and a mustang was 26,440. These prices are both as tested prices. The what the car is worth is from kbb with no changes and 50000 as a basic mileage on both. Mustang was still the better buy.

  • Actually I Paid 29 he paid the same and it is still worth $17,500 I only have 17500 on it. Much nicer car. Anyhow I was not taking away from the 957 hp beast above, it's just a shame ford didn't make it handle better.

  • when it did that run, it had nothing done to it the bottom end. Since then, the motor has been built, but we never had a problem with it.

  • So do a 100K other people but I don't expect we'll hear from Fred in the mail room. Fact is that with this combo of upgrades we recorded a RWHP of 957. We also ran it on the track with slicks more than a couple times. Would it last long? Probably not given the high quality material Ford uses to build their engines, however we will never know. We are already building this motor to handle much more.

  • HEY 8cd03gro your misinformed. I own a GT500 and work for Ford. I also know the top people at SVT. This motor can take about 700 rwhp before things go boom assuming you dont change the internals. The weakest link are the rods .. esp at high rpms .. The GT block and internals are rated at 1000 hp .... not the GT500 block which is a steel block ...

  • the few of you saying it wont last long are quite misinformed. The gt500 has a longblock 95% identical to that of the ford gt which has been taken WAY over 1000whp on the stock block...in fact heffner performance maintains a 100% stock long block with their gt twin turbo that makes over 1100hp. the first time they made one, they dissasembled the rotating assembly and the heads and decided they could barely improve on anything and just put it back together the way it came. The 5.4 is a godly.

  • Fastlane is not a slouch when it comes to building a fast car. There is not another car shop in houston that i would trust with my stang

    and yes if driven all out(with nitrous) it will break... but without nitrous the shelby's are quite drivable with 600-750 horsepower

  • Yeah, in case you don't know quite a few people have run well into the nines with a stock GT500 motor. They're still up and running will no reliability problems, these motors are crazy strong.
