Thank-you for all the videos! I have to make a few children look like they are old women and men in the next week, and your tutorials gave me so many good tips and ideas.
I know... a year later than the first comment, but many college courses use Corson's book- I use it in my high school class. This looks to be pretty much right from it. This is merely the first few steps, to show the basics. It really looks pretty good- lacking finishing details, like final blending, stippling or any other texturing, but certainly several cuts above drawing on the face with pencil! Every actor should know at least this much! (What a dream).
When will they ever teach actors or would-be makeup artists to learn how to do these processes properly? For pity's sake learn the proper way. College classes on makeup are the worst bit of junk I've EVER seen. Experience is best. Come on for God's sake-buy Corson's book and LEARN how to do it right. LEARN HOW TO BLEND the makeup. Geez! I guess I have to do some videos on these processes to get the point across.
Well funny you should say that because I AM working on a set of DVD's which I trust will be out hopefully in the next year perhaps bit more. I just tire of costumers who think they know how to do makeup or actors who "do" their own makeup. Laughable most of the time. Hey, free country, free speech when I call 'em as I see 'em. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's a duck. So don't tell me. I've been doing this for 50 years, studied with DICK SMITH one of H'woods giants and more.
But so what, huh!! My sole purpose is to TEACH those who think they know, that they don't always know what they're talking about. What was shown was "adequate" to a degree. It's just not refined or of a quality worthy of wasting one's money on. Like it or not - I could care less. It IS what it is - amateur and too unrefined -your own words and simply basic. WHY should students at any level NOT do it right. THIS is just one example why they don't. They have little to go on and it shows. Bug off.
what do you use for the brown lines?
