@OriginalPinkbird Back then there wasn't much money to be made in punk. Non of these guys were very popular in their heyday (ahead of their time?) so corporations didn't bother cultivating any of it.

But also, punk bands didn't think in terms of careers. It was more about expression than making a few coins. I guess the lack of money made that freedom of expression possible.

I find that, while I like 'pleasant' voices, what has proven to be more long lasting to me is the strength of feeling, energy and raw edge of bands. Most of my favorite 'albums' are first releases from bands. They tend to be 'under produced' and rough and have stood the test of time more than their later 'heavy play' albums.
