A lot of backtracking here, not much cutting out. That's sort of like Metroid, two thumbs up, lovin it Saestrol :D can't wait to see you tackle the forest. Music is epic win, even without Yoshi!

Also, is Kamek a guy or girl? I've often heard Kamek being refered to as a he, but his voice sounds more like a tradition witch's.

Kamek is a known male Magikoopa. There is a female one known as Kammy as seen in Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door.
Kamek's was probably made to sound that way to really sink down the witch/wizard image. I can only remember the strange noise he made in Yoshi's Island when he speaks.
