He really missed the point of DADT, the biggest issue was not that LGBT soldiers wanted to make a statement about their sexuality, it was that they would be dishonourably discharged should anyone find out. Often it was the case that other soldiers would pry into their fellow soldiers lives, find out they were LGBT, then report them.
Basically it's the straight soldiers not honouring the "Don't Ask" part of DADT that meant it didn't work. Straight people ruin everything XD

You're right that sexual activity doesn't belong in the military but, the repeal of don't ask don't tell doesn't suddenly allow soldiers to have sex with each other. Now, it may seem odd or even impossible in your mind that not all gay people are the promiscuous fairies you believe them to be; that they are in fact, normal people. but seriously, you'd think someone so homophobic would avoid having such a huge stick up their ass.
I cannot stand anyone who has decided that gay rights only has to do with gay sex. I wish these people would all just think about things such as women's rights and rights for other races. Repeal of DADT does nothing more than remove this intrinsic unfairness. It does not require soldiers to have gay sex with each other or wear lipstick, fluffy tutus and carry handbags into battle as some have suggested.

Since left handedness isn't normal either, and nor is genius, that rules out brilliant military strategists, also several presidents from being Commander In Chief, such as Harry Truman, George Bush, Barack Obama. Winston Churchill, Colin Powell, UK Prime Minster David Cameron, are all left handers so not 'normal'. Why DOES everyone have to be exactly the same?

I'm a gay veteran myself, no one cared that I was gay in the military almost a decade ago, and no one cares now. I have tons of veteran friends and active duty friends who are straight and this is a total non-issue for them. The only people who make an issue about it are the radical-right assholes with their "support the troops" stickers who know NOTHING about the military.

He really missed the point of DADT, the biggest issue was not that LGBT soldiers wanted to make a statement about their sexuality, it was that they would be dishonourably discharged should anyone find out. Often it was the case that other soldiers would pry into their fellow soldiers lives, find out they were LGBT, then report them.
Basically it's the straight soldiers not honouring the "Don't Ask" part of DADT that meant it didn't work. Straight people ruin everything XD

The thing that is so wrong about DADT is that it is sacking someone from their job not for doing something, but for being something. Dismissal is humiliating and life wrecking in every sense, and is unfair on personnel with an unblemished, and often distinguished military record.
Repeal of DADT does nothing more than remove this intrinsic unfairness. It does not require soldiers to have gay sex with each other or wear lipstick, fluffy tutus and carry handbags into battle as some have suggested.

Santorum never served in military, been in country or in a fire fight. He's concerned witht sex. Troops are concerned with: Will squad members risk their lives to save theirs, have their backs, trained to handle unexpected, hit what shooting at & never be left behind. DADT's Repeal won't override military's code of conduct. He's a total idiot and not qualified to be commander and chief of best trained and equiped armed forces in the world. Sex isn't a factor in combat, only staying alive is.
