I went to Dr. Shae here in Memphis,Tn. and he is like the best ear doctor in the United States. He about 94 years old and he said I was the first person he has seen that was born with bppv in BOTH ears. people will have it in only one ear, but i have it in both. They have surgery for this but its not 100%. medication does not work either. i have that the various head positioning works far better than any medication. if you feel like everything is spinning, do the positioning till it stops

Hi Guys, I have just started having similiar symptoms to the ones described here. It has just started since me being on a diet and I have replaced sugar in my tea with canderell (aspartame). I've been looking at the possible side effects that this product gives off. Is anyone else here taking sweetners? Could be a cause? I'm going to come off them and I'll let you know how I get on in a couple of weeks. I hope this is the cause for me and I hope you all get things sorted yourselves.

Hello Duncan-It is comforting to see others able to ask questions with similar problems thank you-I have been suffering from vertigo for six months straight non stop.. iv had vertio for about 2 months now. my mother took me to a natropath and he found out that i have mecrery in my system from a shot i had 3 week b4. most docters don sugest a natropath because they think it wont work and is a wast of time because that they use all nateral meds.

I cured my horrible TWO YEAR bout with vertigo with some advise from European friends. They told me to breath steam......., So I did it daily for a week for about 45 minutes or so then as much as I could take.

God bless him. I've felt vertigo and have had a terrible balance disorder for about 12 years now and I'm only 20 years old. I'm seeing my third ENT doctor in a couple of weeks. Hopefully they can get the job done this time around so I can live like a regular person now.

I get this too, and I've been getting this for a while....Mostly positional ones with the ear and such. Is there a cure or treatment for that????????

My doctor diagnosed me with vertigo a year ago (I'll be 13 next month). When I was first diagnosed it wasn't that bad. In the car I would get dizzy which I still do. I can't stand up too fast or run or excersize. If i walk too fast I get dizzy. But the last 3 months or so if I stood up too fast, walked too fast, or ran, I would have like these moments where i get very very dizzy and everything blacks out. I can't see at all. I'm just blinded. Is this normal?

@7obliviator sometimes its just in your mind already. i beilieved it will never go away and it didnt. then i realized its just not right to feel dizzy every single minute of everydy. i just changed my mind and attitude about it. if you put too much attention to it you will just creatae the problem. relax and just dont mind it.

@7obliviator depending what u have central or peripheral causes treatment is different. as stated before do he epley manouver for BPPV which should cure it. if central you will have to do more habituation/adaptation treatment with brandt daroff exercises 5 repititions 3 times a day

Lat night i was in deep sleep, woke up at 6am in absolute panic.. Felt like my eyes where moving and the whole toom spinning! I thought i was dying.. I didnt go back to sleep of fear and here iam now because if i lay down i feel dizzy again, i feel liek my head is stiched on!!!

I`ve suffered vertigo about a few years ago. It happened again after 2 years. A sense of losing balance and falling down is very common. But the last time i suffered, it only lasted for a short while. It has to do largely with the CaCO3 (Canaliths). Drinking more water might make one feel better as water, as in my imagination might dilute any solids and give smoothness in the flow of fluid in the semi circular canals and hence perceive all the 3 dimensions without much risk.

I get attacks of vertigo maybe every 6 or so months, so only had 4 or 5 attacks in a few years thank god, but I always feel off balance, nervous and I get headaches, I've seen so many specialists but no answers, think it could be this?

Yeah My Vertigo lasted for about 9 days, just spinning/puking etc. I was on Meclizine for a while, and I had Tinnitus in my left ear. I alos went to the ENT (ear nose and throat doctor) I had hearing loss in my left ear so I was reccomended for a MRI to make sure there was no tumor or growth. The results came back negative (which is good), And I was on my way. The tinnitus is still here but i've gotten used to it (kind of). Sleep with a fan on it helps. I heard there is no cure. Good luck.

I have been suffering with positional vertigo for the last 16 years. I just woke up one morning and the room was spinning and to this day, I cannot lay flat on my back or the room spins. I can't look up at the sky, I can't lay back in the dentist chair (hhas to stand on his head...literally).. I hate it. I was told I had the same thing as you, and just accepted it,and have tried to live around my dizziness. It sucks..:(

First off, I have MAV (migraine associated vertigo) or at least thats the latest dx, I totally feel for you Duncan, as for the rest of us, he mentioned a dr gerald h smith, if you google it it comes up with the answer.

I Have had this for over 15 years, has anyone else had success like this, I only here success stories thru non-conventional or holistic measures, which I believe, but have not tried, anyone else have luck with dr Gerald H Smith's methodology or any methodology?

I only have had any real success with a low dose Lexapro through a headache specialist 75 miles away.

I have a Youtube video about my experience with MAV. I suffered severely for over 20 years before I finally was correctly diagnosed and successfully medicated for it.

I found your video by accident. I am someone who has "vertigo" going on 34 years. I have had this problem my entire life. Seen countless doctors and presribed a whole host of meds.

Been diagnosed with MAV, BPPV and latest is Menierre's Disease. All of which is wrong. Nothing the doctors suggest help and all medications are useless.

I am always amazed at how many people suffer from these problems. And the struggle they encounter when findiing a cure

You should go to a balance disorder center. Perhaps you have bppv- Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo, which can be treated pretty simply. I've had vertigo problems for 22+ years and was finally diagnosed. I'm going in for treatment today - canalith repositioning.
