Libraries and Book stores burn books all the time. They just don't make a whole spectacle about it. A lot of you should maybe turn the volume up on your computers, or do some research. Sometimes there's nothing else to do with the books because there's just no more room for them. There are literally thousands upon thousands of books burned each year. And also, not every book is a gem, and something worth saving. Just because it's bound doesn't means it's sacred.
Which one do you think is right? A guy who tells you what to do or a book that tells you what it knows? Amen, I tell you those books could had been donated to such poor families who wanted their children to have knowledge. You could also donate it to the library so that people may read them.
Book Burning OK one guy seems to plan to burn the Koran and so on but what will happend if the next pope is from Japan and they burn copies of the book called the Rape of Nanking in front of the Vatican because the church told them to how are those reactions of the people when that happend ?
Obama and his recent order to the Pentagon to burn the Able Danger book wherein it identified Mohammed Atta back in 2000 as a danger to the U.S. caused me to stumble into this video clip (above); when I was in the army in Vietnam and in Germany we used to get free books (donated to us) through the USO -- looks like these could just as well have gone to our soldiers still in Iraq and in Afghanistan as well as other U.S. military sites throughout the world. No a dumb ass thought to burn them.
I love the point he was trying to make. I regret all the extreme emotions though. And really people, is the screaming and cursing needed? You should be elated that we live in a country where social statements like this can even happen. Aren't there some countries where this can get you shot? Keep the brain thinking peeps!
I'd be running around snatching up all those boxes of books!! This is hands down the stupidest fucking thing I've ever seen.
This isn't a show of how societys reliance on books for entertainment and education has diminished; its these peoples reliance on propaganda that's flourished.
Used to go to this bookstore all the time. I will never set foot inside again. This act was a disgusting and ridiculous publicity stunt meant to drum up business. Pathetic.
Yeah, don't burn the books, just through them in the garbage, either way, they are going to be trashed. Why did the fire department put out the fire anyways, it wasn't any more dangerous than a big barbeque grill?!
hmm. constructive. burning books is really a progressive step for mankind... when was the last time we saw a highly progressive socail development like this - oh yeah, I remember, IT WAS IN NAZI GERMANY! And if you cant read them, recycle the paper or burn them in powerplants!

Wow, an old/obsolete book burning party and up rolls the Fire Department! Talk about a quasi-Farenheit 451 in real life!
