I worked in retail and I have seen alot of people leave clothes on the floor, one day it was soo bad it was like a large pile on the floor the bench everywhere, customers obviously don't see it cause we bust our ass to clean that ish up. Especially when you have a big sale those customers get in and out....and leave that crap on the damn floor ARGH
The idea is to suggest items for the client, if you're selling them on items it's your regardless to whether or not you place it in the fitting room or wrap it, which is more likely if you actually sold the client on it,they'll even say you helped :-) I'm in sales,which is sort of mixed as far as the possibility of me making a sale and he client who was already sold prior to speaking with,so our defining line is did you initiate otherwise it's the company's adverts and efforts the made the sale

Usually the dressing room has a rack to leave the items not wanted and paid associates to return the items. However, I think it is just ridiculous for people to leave clothes on the floor or not hung back on hangers after the tried them on. I personally have never seen this when I shop, they may be left hanging in the dressing room, but never seen clothes on the floor or even benches..

My advice: Don't shop at a store where you are not represented on the sales floor, in the catalogs, online, or in management positions. Don't reward a company that will only accept your money and not you or your talent.
The truth is, everyone who applies to your store is not going to be "Becky". It's time to evolve and allow differences to advance your company, because guess what? I'm not going to shop in a place where it is not acceptable for me to work. Women: If you want to know how your favorite retail company really feels about you, then try to get a job there. Even if you already have one, make an attempt to get employment and see how you're treated.
Fortunately, I'm currently working for a company that is progressive in this regard, but there is certainly room for improvement. When talking about retail/sales, I hear people often complaining about customers and the demands of a retail job, but the customers are no match for a company that hires people who will only hire more people who look, think, and behave exactly like them or holds back certain employees from advancing within the company.
To my surprise, the Retail/Sales industry is one of the most racist and discriminating industries that I've ever encountered in my search for professional retail work. And the more expensive the products and service, the more exclusive the company becomes. The positions of employment, particularly the management positions, are completely dominated by White women. And most of them, I'm finding, are very resistant to allowing diversity to "break up" the company dynamic that is set.
I don't like forever 21..I went in there one time out of curiousty to see what the hype was about but damn I made a U-Turn so quick because the place was so nasty..and I never ever went back..I use to work at Dillards and I could give you 10 things I didn't like

I used to work at NORDSTROM, I hated it because Customs were allowed to bring in as much clothes they want in the dressing room but end up only buying one item. They also were allowed to bring back clothes they wore for over a year, even without the price tag and without the receipt. NORDSTROM doesn't have a return policy. smdh

I'm not going to shop in a place where it is not acceptable for me to work. Women: If you want to know how your favorite retail company really feels about you, then try to get a job there. Even if you already have one, make an attempt to get employment and see how you're treated.

Fortunately, I'm currently working for a company that is progressive in this regard, but there is certainly room for improvement. When talking about retail/sales, I hear people often complaining about customers and the demands of a retail job, but the customers are no match for a company that hires people who will only hire more people who look, think, and behave exactly like them or holds back certain employees from advancing within the company.

To my surprise, the Retail/Sales industry is one of the most racist and discriminating industries that I've ever encountered in my search for professional retail work. And the more expensive the products and service, the more exclusive the company becomes. The positions of employment, particularly the management positions, are completely dominated by White women. And most of them, I'm finding, are very resistant to allowing diversity to "break up" the company dynamic that is set.

I used to work in The Bay in downtown Montreal and I totally feel your pain! Some customers act like they were the queens of the place and treated us as if we were some lowly shit. And the worst is that those snobby ladies were the cheapest ones! I once had a lady trying to return a worn pair of jeans without receipt and tags on, and she got mad at me, telling my boss and I that "We're going to work as sales associate forever while she drives a Ferrari" Like wtf woman why are you so cheap then

I'm currently searching for a career where I can use my degree even though my current retail job wants to promote me. This is just not for me. I used to work at NORDSTROM, I hated it because Customs were allowed to bring in as much clothes they want in the dressing room but end up only buying one item. They also were allowed to bring back clothes they wore for over a year, even without the price tag and without the receipt. NORDSTROM doesn't have a return policy. smdh
