Awesome set-up! the only thing I didn't like was the star wars poster, not that I don't like star wars, it just seemed out of place in that room for some reason lol...ohh and the Shaggy Dog poster...wtf! haha
Very nice, but just 1 Sub to support that Large of a room? Have you added a 2nd or thought about it? My room is just 11x13 & I FEEL the Punch of LFE much more, & added overall Equalized Low-End by having 2 Subs. I am NOT slamming you at all, if you still have 1 Sub or don't see the need for a 2nd. If it WORKS FOR YOU, that's all that matters anyway, right? Great Job tho' I don't know if I could personally Wait 9 months to get it all done. Excellent HT !!
Thank you for the kind words!! I have always wanted a themed theater and feel that the rooms itself showed be an experience within itself. Again Thank you !!
WOW PURE GENIUS so much work but what a Cinema-you would even make Scotty jealous.Thank you for sharing this with us,made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up and
gave me goose pimples.A dream, you sir have class and passion.
Nice job. Lot of passion put into this theater. How did you do the hydraulic lift in the back of your theater? Smart to thank the wife at the end. :) Had to convince my wife that I wanted to build a home theater in our house. Sometimes that's half the battle to building a home theater. Once she saw Johnny Depp's face on our 135" screen, she magically thought the whole idea was great. Funny how that works.
@wq1299 Thank you so very much!! What a wonderful compliment to give. Coming soon are videos of the exterior rooms that lead to the theater. They will consist of a display room (just finished) and a tomb room with Star Gate. I don't get out much:)
VERY nice job! The hidden storage at the back of the room was completely unexpected and a nice "wow" factor. Two questions: First - how did you light the "wedges" between the seats with the blue lights? Was this an LED rope light artfully installed? And second, did you do a baffle front wall and/or bass traps? Thanks and great job!
I am blown away.... I'm a Trekkie fan also, and being an an Electronics and Mechanical Engineering tech who builds and designs most of my electronics, speakers, and just about anything! BUT, I am a lazy slug compared to you!!! LOL I'm ashamed to realize what I could do if I put some effort into it!! I don't have the money to do the room stuff now, but I used to... and didn't even make an attempt... sighhhh.... THANKS FOR THE KICK IN THE ASS!!! :) :)
I have the display room complete and have started working on the 3rd phase , which is the "TOMB ROOM" which leads to the theater. More video is coming. I am glad my video helpled you!!!!!! Any questions let me know.!!
Thank you,!!! Half the fun was designing it. I just complete the display room outside the theater and will be posting video shorty. Leading to the display room will be an Egyptian / Atlantis tomb. Inside will be a Star Gate complete with pneumatic latches locking the different symbols in place. I have always felt that a home theater should be an experience within itself not just the movie shown in it. built with a budget for the middle income family. Build it to be fun!!! Again thank you.

The only thing I added to the video was the voice clips and the music. The sound effects are the actual sounds. I used a "BOO TUnes" Mp3 player from Fright props.com It will hold 9 different files and with a SD card you can put just about anything in the 9 files and use momentary push buttons to activate each file. Really simple but a great effect.!!
All this and Star gate too? wow color me jealous ! I seriously need to get off my ass and do something, I'm single and have no one to answer to and my place is falling apart! so I have NO excuse not to rip out the walls and make my house a home!
Glad I could help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This video is to help other home theater builders and enthusiasts with ideas they may not think of as I constantly look for ideas myself. Instead of this video try a glass of warm milk!!! Please share your video of your theater with the rest of the world. Have a restful night!!!!
@EmberIsen I used Del lighting.com for the projector and the raw fiber optic cable. I used (4x8) sheets of 1 1/2 in foam (home depot) and drilled all the holes from behind the after running the cable through leaving about 3" on the other side I placed a drop of elmers to hold it. I then painted the other side screwed it to the ceiling, patched the screw holes and painted it black. After I clipped the ends off leaving 1/4" if I ever have to repaint then I can clip again. VERY EASY!!

im glad u got that projector I have mine too and love it.
just inquiring as to your screen size and why you chose 16x9 screen as opposed to 2.35:1 unless it is indeed the anomorphic screen. with curtains on side.I have a 96" screen
@crosswire Sorry I took so long getting back.!! The screen package from Visual Apex comes with a 16:9 screen of your choosing (size) Since almost all movie are 16:9 it works well. As for older movie that are not 16:9, the 120" screen makes up for the sides cut off and you don't really notice.
Golfing22002, You did an awesome job on your theater. I to wanted to post a longer video and as you I had the same problem. Your sound system is super, Did you ever consider adding some acoustic panels. I would add one behind each speaker and at least two on each side wall. I am a total believer in them.
Building your own is SO simple!!! The difference will blow you away. Del lighting.com is where I got the fiberoptics and the projector for my ceiling. Again Thank you.
Very cool, you did a great job. My theater was just recently completed as well. Check it out on my channel, Bryan's completed home theater. I have a star ceiling as well.
Thank you so much, I had a blast building it. In fact this is the first phase of my project . I am constructing an Egyptian tomb with the StarGate as an entrance to a display room that will lead into the theater. You can see the bare 2 x 4 in the other room as the door closes. That is the display room. Man I hope I never grow up.
All i have say is very very cool. I bet this must took awhile to build. I show this to my dad and he loved it!!,since he's also a startrek fan. Best one iv seen so far.
I dont like start trek, wars and stuff, but I loved this room, not the best home theater, but I loved the idea... gratz =D

What I love the most about your home theater is how you describe it as "budget"...which lends me to believe I too could build one.
Great job and thanks for sharing!!!
Oh and thank you Kathy for allowing him to build this and share it.
