the silence of this film shocked me but it was deliberate and what shocked me even more was when he finally came to sing this song it was so potent and meaningful, great filmmaking i think
@AMBat3rdrock Exactly how it made me feel. It's like it reminds you why this strange, hobbling hermit is so important. And then it leaves again. Super impacting the way it was done.
I first saw this film a few years ago and was utterly blown away and the blowing away happened at this instant i could feel the silence building up throughout the film the drum solo being a fantastic teaser to the magnificent and touching song from death to birth. what a great film and what a great musician kurt cobain was.
@adiostraitorobama me too! : P but I honestly think they didn't tell her about the movie just so she didn't copyright it, and if she saw this, I'm pretty sure it would be too late to copyright because this movie was made back in 2003...
Was'nt his middle name blake??? I cant remember but I never understood why they call him that in the movie. Anyone whos seen this could you also explain to me who the people were that lived with him in the mansion??? Please reply.
He's not actually Kurt Cobain... the character and film is just inspired by him. The people who stay with him in the house are just leaches who live off his money and fame... they're not actually in his band.
I completely disagree. That's this "uneventful" feeling that make the film, all the silence, all the things that should take place in this big house but don't. Everything is about Blake, the way he walks, the way he talks... the guy is already a complete ghost ! The silence and the nothingness in Last Days are what's so mind-blowing about it!
It takes you right into the self-destruction of the guy. IMO, Gus van sant couldn't have done better.
@LaaLaaLou I respect your opinion, but I think the "silence and the nothingness" would've caused the movie 2 fall into total obscurity w/out the popularity created by the Cobain buzz about it. IMAO its like the movie is so boring b/c they were afraid to make any assertions about his "last days," so consequently nothing happens the whole movie...
@LaaLaaLou I can see appreciating the movie for the reasons you give. And I was just thinking it would have been cool to have the same 'vibe' in the movie about him wondering around the big, empty house and property, but then having a twist ending like maybe hes already dead. And everything takes place in between the time he died and when his body was found. Just thinkin'
Nice try, and I can see where you may have derived that conclusion that he was referring to his heroin kit, but I believe when he says "wooden case", I believe that he is talking about his coffin.
the "with my own wooden case" line is a reference to kurts heroin kit maybe but dont call me a dick cuz i know its Blake not Kurt ive seen the fucking movie
this is a beautiful song that would have made kurt so blessed

omg ever since i saw that movie im obsessed with that song. This is the only version that rocks for me. All the others suck compared to this.

This is amazing. The original version is kinda rubbish though, too polished and lacks emotion.

Easily the best part of that terribly uneventful movie, and the only part worth watching again. Thanks 4 posting.

beautiful song.
I believe that if Kurt Cobain and Tom Yorke had written something together, they would have come up with something like this.
kurtfreedom 2 years ago 6
why tom yorke?
nunofrg 2 years ago
cause the song doesn't really sound completely nirvana ...the vocals are indeed cobain like, but the chords and the melody is more radiohead...
