come on people, help the little boy's father out, it doesn't matter how many hours or minutes/seconds,it's been. have some common sense. gosh! ya'll make me sick.
@MrHaloSlayer123 underarmour?????????? that only makes you even hotter its like wearing long johns they make you sweat not good in the heat if anything you should wear a white shirt dark colors attract more heat
Mike was breaking the first rule in the terms of a medical emergency, when his father wasn't moving, Mike decided to drag him to the car which is a mistake considering he lived because, injured or not you should NEVER move the victim, moving is only the last resort.
@KetchupAndMustard55 He was a kid... in the middle of the desert. The practice of never moving the victim is strictly left to the discretion of the primary care giver. If you're in the rainforest with your mate, miles away from help when he has a heart attack, are you gonna leave him while you go get help, or drag him out? Life over limb. Not everything in the book can be applied in practice. ;)
@KetchupAndMustard55 The reason you do not move a victim so that you do not make any injury worse or cause them to bleed more. For heat stroke, it's perfectly fine and probably better for the victim to move them, especially if you are moving them out of the sun. Not to mention the danger of leaving a person unconscious in the desert; animals might find him or it might be hard for rescue to find him. He probably did the best thing for his father.
Its hot as hell where I live right now..Im not going outside period to ride bikes, do yard work or anything outside..I have sympathy for those out in the heat working or homeless..

3 months ago I collapsed due to heat stroke...I thought I was dead. The paramedics later told my ex gf(the one I was with at the time) that they were unsure if I was going to make it. For the next month n a half my body was in lots n lots of pain. Heat stroke is no joke, the sun is deadly. I still get weak when I try to do stuff in the sun. Ur body is never the same after suffering from a heat stroke.
when you have to take carts in 99 degree heat what makes it worst is people sitting in there car with the ac on near the cart collection bins, people don't know that the car forces the heat inside the car outside making people who walk near the car overheat faster !!!
wtf how did this happen me and my bestfrend went riding in the desert in barstow wen it was 117 deg. we rode all day out in the middle of the desert nothing happen to us we came back just fine
I'm making an educated guess that improper hydration had a big thing to do with this accident. If they stopped only every half hr, they weren't stopping nearly enough. They may have only been using water too, that kind of heat with that kind of gear, you need electrolytes--Gatorade.
I walk 5-6 miles a day and for every 3 miles, I bring a half-quart of water and 20oz of Gatorade. We had a week of mid-90s heat in July, I doubled the amount of water and gatorade I drank per lap.
he is a smart kid for getting him in the shade thou i give him cradit for that. but i would of trun the car on for more ac. and take off the bike gear..........always bring water in the desert. can't suevive with out it..........
We had water in our camelpacks and back in the Jeep. We didn't expect equipment failure and not being able to restart my dirt bike, and then as the hours rolled on, being caught in the heat of the day!
If anyone has the missing first segment where warehouse cargo falls from forklift onto a worker from this episode, please reply to AllGood. We will be thankful about it.
lol he's 13!! thats not young at all! its not like he races either, since it would be fine my cousins a pro started even before this kids age and he's 15 now, my age.......you can start riding or racing and almost any age.
Noticed how she said they put on equipment so they dont get hurt "when" they fall, not "if". lol.. Must have not ben too confident in they're dirt-biking skills!
There's no "test of manhood" to do activities in heat like that. Having had 6 days in a row above 40c (104f) and one of them 45.7c (114.3f) in Adelaide, it's just stupid to go out in that heat.

I have the same problom of getting a Heat Stroke myself. All he had to do was take off his clothes, grab some water and have him drink it, Or splash some water in the face, and get him under a shade. Boy what a dumb kid!
if they make the padding lighter the rider would get hurt worse if he crashed i should know my cousin had to have surgery when he got in a dirt bike accident and the doctor said the thick padding helped save his life
1: Take the guy's gear off. The man is in his personal oven, take the gear off so that he can lose some of that heat.
2: Find a place with clear visibility in both directions and stand IN the road. People are more likely to stop if they think your not just waving at them.
It was originally shown on CBS. Repeats also aired on the Family Channel, Odyssey/Hallmark Channel, and Discovery Health Channel, but no channels air it anymore.

When I was in Phoenix, Arizona I got hot standing still.
I've never experienced heat like I felt it in Arizona.
I was wearing shorts and a sleeveless top, and was baking hot at 9:30 a.m.
I knew not to even try going out between 11 a.m and 2 p.m. since I wasn't a resident.
My friend, who lives there, had no problem with the heat. In fact, she thought 102 degrees wasn't hot. She said, "It's only 102."
It was 120 three weeks before I came.
