@Sockkerbagarn It tastes just the way I like, it's a light roast. It seems you like the darker roasts for espresso. That's why people roast their own, they can get the roast they prefer.
I've been using the same popcorn popper outdoors to roast for several months here in hawaii. I suggest roasting 1/2 cup rather than just 1/3 cup. Also if you stir every 1.5 minutes vigorously with the handle of a long wooden spoon during the roasting, the friction will help to release the chaff and almost all of it will be gone by the time the beans are roasted. Also I would suggesting forgetting the thermometer and stopping the roast right after the "second" pop. Continued.....
Also wanted to say that the Chefmate brand was sold by Target, but recently I needed a new popper and Target here on Hawaii was not selling the Chefmate anymore. So I order the "Toastmaster 6203" online....it is the SAME machine as the Chefmate. The reviews for the Toastmaster as a popcorn popper are terrible; however, it does function very well as a coffee roaster.
Excellent video! I am looking to do this myself, but having a problem finding the right kind of hot-air popper (ie vents on bottom). You might want to post the brand and model of the products you use (eg popper; thermometer). You mentioned a blog, but I don't see a link listed in you profile or info? Great video, thanks.
Thanks, it is getting hard to find these. I burned the motor out on this one, I tried adding a switch to turn off the heating element, not recommended with this model. Thanks for pointing out the blog reference, I've added it to my profile.
That coffee can not taste much....?!
A tip, wait to the second crack! Watch my video reply!

You barley hit a city roast this time. First crack wasn't even over before you dumped it, you were at least a minute or two from full city

i agree with mark, 1/2 cup works much better with this brand of popper
