It's a pretty big assumption that the viewer "wants to run the world." Don't you think?

I did discover biomimicry watching the 11th hour too. As for the post from wolfpaw999, I agree The DIscovery Channel is all about rating, 'shark week' has been very successful misleading the public about the fear of sharks and their behavior than actually educate the public about the myths.

while bio-mimicry is great, it does have its limitations. What is true is that organisms have been around to react and adapt in order to overcome limitations set on by the laws of physics. They have a lot of experience in it and will be beneficial to humanity to years to come, but simple mimicry is only a source of inspiration, not the solution to all our problems. Like all sources of inspiration, it will be depleted someday.

Nature is a growing and evolving source of inspiration, and thus it will never be depleted. yes we can bustle up nature into a state in which it does not support human life anymore, but that won 't stop nature just us humans.

All living organisms are experts in what they do, they evolved that way.

We evolved in a way that let's us use the engineering expertise of these organisms, all of them.

There is not a single problem in the world nature already didn't solve.

I've only just discovered the science of biomimicry through the movie The 11th Hour and I find it absolutely fascinating. If only the ideas that was have could be made into reality sooner.

I believe that biomimicry will be the natural technology of the future.
