the churches i go to do not preach salvation, they preach how to sermons, what not to do sermons, how to get along sermons, nothing about repent from sins, accept jesus as your personal saviour. pathetic!!!
Yahweh is going to sort out this whole sordid mess - the whole emerging church concept is nothing but paganism reinvented to fool a goat herd. Sheep know their Master's voice so can spot the fool's parade a mile away. Watch out for that cliff. Wise as serpents gentle as doves.
Also, you say the emergent church does not follow the Lord's teaching? They are the only church that I know of where some followers go and stay with the poor, and share the gospel with gays, and "love their enemies"
Regular middle class suburban church is tiresome and people are starting to see that: we lay our sins down at the cross but the church gives us nothing to pick up. I don't consider myself an emergent, but I see that the emergent church does more to promote love than regular church
"or is it part of the great end times apostasy predicted in the Bible?"
Are you kidding me? Go read one of Shane Claiborne's books.
No wonder so many people are turning towards the emergent church: American Christians have been brought up in the 'go to church every sunday and vote republican' ideology. Church is about community, which is what the emergent church is trying to find again. Instead of taking their words out of context, actually listen to what they have to say.
Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever, the heart of men is evil only- no change there- the gospel has worked for 2000 years - it stands on its own- true seekers will always find the gospel. Much of this is due to a middle class desire to be trendy and not study the depths of Scripture
The False Prophet is in the pulpits. It is a corporate body of apostate preachers. They are telling the people to comply with the coming New World Order which spiritually will be a tolerance movement and ecumenical unity at the expense of truth.
Pagitt has enough heresy to quote w/o putting words in his mouth.
Hersey or not, the emergent is challenging the institution's relevancy as evidenced by people, like me, who refuse to help build 'man's kingdom'(ie the institution of the (c)hurch) So... if that makes me a heretic, so be it.
I'm working through your Faith Undone book Roger and it's very good. I have been noticing this pull toward 'oneness' for a few years, as soon as I started noticing the Purpose Driven golden calf in our Evangelical Covenant church. They are WAY down the road toward this emergent/social gospel/mystical/contemplative apostasy and so many are asleep...
Satan wishes to split the church into smaller and smaller segments. "Divide and Conquer". This us versus them mentality in the body of Christ is doing His work.
Titus 3:9-11 --
But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless. Warn a divisive person once, and then warn him a second time. After that, have nothing to do with him. You may be sure that such a man is warped and sinful; he is self-condemned.
There is a difference between righteous division and unrighteous division. Roger's ministry is not about "us vs. them."
Satan seeks one kind of division: to divide people from the truth of the Gospel. The simple, necessary and complete Gospel of Christ crucified to pay for our sin and resurrected to redeem us unto eternal life is neither foolish, legalistic, unprofitable nor useless. However, it is quite controversial because mankind loves the darkness more than the light (John 3:19) ...
... On the other hand, Christ seeks to divide the sheep from the wolves. Christ did not commission the church to bring about unity at any cost (i.e. denying the necessity of the Gospel truth). Rather, he made it very clear that the Gospel message would be a sword of division which would set father against son and mother against daughter (Matthew 10:33-35). The church (body of born again believers) is commissioned to wield this sword by preaching and standing for the Gospel ...
... Though facing persecution (including threats to his personal safety) from influential leaders who seek to entice the flock away from the Gospel truth (and who do so mostly for personal gain), Roger boldly stands for the great commission to preach the Gospel, discern the truth from the lie, and rebuke those who preach the lie.
