I thought traditional Marranitos were made with dark molasses and don't actually have ginger in them, but are still often called "gingerbread" cookies.
Do you have any idea how they make empanadas? I am trying to make the Rio Grande valley version of empanadas but can't find a recipe anywhere. I can't tell if the Valley empanadas are baked or fried. I sure miss the conchas.
The two sweet breads I have spoken of "pumpkin enpanada" (turnover) and "maranitos" ginger bread shaped as little pigs...are the best choice nutrition wise at the bakery.
