Honestly what the FUCK possessed the Warrior to ram that thing in his head anyway? He knew damn well that's how Diablo took hold of the Prince.... dumb ass thought he could contain it within himself I guess, even though that was the whole point of the bloody soul stone.
Think like a sorceror: "For some reason I have a powerful urge to shove this demon lord imprisoning shard of unhealthy looking rock into my forehead..."
*Looks at his woman, then at the dead prince*
"Fuck that. There is no way in Hell I'm putting this thing anywhere near my face. Alright, let's destroy this at the Anvil of Rage--"
*Warrior shoves it into his skull*
"JESUS CHRIST! ! ! WHAT THE HELL IS WRING WITH YOU? ? ?"
It's dark, it's bleak, it's actually looks like hell; Such a perfect atmosphere for a game about Diablo... Yet they feel the need to fuck it right in the ass for D3... *sigh*
Also it was completely stupid and nonsensical to thrust the sharp jagged rock into your skull. Assuming you even survived the trauma (magic rock or not, still basic anatomy) you'd be in eternal struggle with a demon of darkness. Not fun. Why not just leave him inside the rock? Hmm? Ask a Horadrim to take the stone and guard it, whatever.
@jcdenton2k Well, apparently when you are under demonic influence, you do stupid things (Diablo influenced the character to think that they could contain his essence by applying soulstone to forehead).
why the hell do both the warrior, sorcerer and the rogue have the same gear... and why the fuck do all apply the frickin soulstone to the damn forehead...
i dont get it... The dark wanderer is the hero from Diablo 1... and in Diablo 2 the dark wanderer is a guy, so if you played as a rogue in the first game does that mean that you did a sex change or something
Well, as the cannon (or true) ending to this game is the one of the warrior (he is the one who really kills Diablo in this game), it is accepted that the Rogue and the Sorcerer participated in the fight against the Lord of Terror and were corrupted in their struggle against him., They fought his hordes of demons and were tainted by them, yet the one who truly defeated Diablo was the warrior.
Are the heroes retarded? When they remove the soulstone a guy come out and there's a huge gaping hole in his forhead. Did they really fucking think it was a good idea to shove it in their own forehead? Look what happened! DIABLO TWO! Did they find the stone and say "Hmmm. I wonder what would happen when i SHOVE IT IN MY HEAD".
Possibly the creepiest game I've ever played. The ONLY other game I know that had such creepy factor was ES4 Oblivion. Diablo 2 + LOD simply had much less of it. I've played TONS of games over the years, and Diablo still ranks (for me) as the creepiest ever. The dark atmosphere and tantalizing music remains unmatched to this very day. Those prerendered 2D graphics have a LEGENDARY feel to them. Honestly, I just DON'T find 3D graphics creepy at all.
Oh shit, if I would be that guy, I wouldn't have done that... I would've thrown the soulstone into the lava or something, not hitting it trough your skull, to your own damn forehead.... Oh shit, must've hurt...
Wow I'm getting quoted a lot. First and foremost in a game that has multiple conflicting endings, then gets a direct sequel one ending is usually chosen as the 'canon' ending, meaning the others don't count, or are modified to fit together better.
A classic example would be Chrono Trigger & Cross, a recent one would be SW: Force Unleashed & 2.
Warrior's ending is obviously the canon ending, I was speculating on the Sorcerer and Amazon since there's a mage miniboss + an amazon miniboss. (Cont)
@SiegeTF In Chrono Trigger you can choose not revive the main character Crono, and yet in Chrono Cross one of the characters that joins your party is Crono's daughter. In force Unleashed the darkside ending has Starkiller (not Wedge, whose name in Twik means 'Starkiller') being turning into a cybrog. These endings are disregarded in their sequels; they're not canon. Now that I think about it Metal Gear Solid also has a bad ending if you give up in the torture minigame, which is disregarded.
I never understood that action. Why on earth jam the stone into your forehead after seeing what it did to Albrecht. Wouldn't it just be better to hold Diablo in the stone, and prepare to destroy him when the prison fails?
@Linkthe1st The "Wanderer" did it to try to contain him, but this is what Diablo wanted and slowly sure enough gain control over him. Hence the beginning of Diablo 2.
@DeadlySinnerx666x actually, they thought the did it to contain him, but by that point they were already under diablos influence. read the lore again, and you shall see that i am right
@Teebown1 That's pretty much exactly what I said. . . He did what Diablo wanted him to do because King Lazarus's son was too weak of a host. The wander thought he was doing the right thing, but jest fell into Diablo's trap.
Impossible for the person to be Blood raven. The person will had the soul stone in there head so they became the dark wanderer. Blood raven rose from the grave. Not jabbing a soul stone to her head. Plot = fail.
The canon ending was the warrior became the wanderer.
The endings for Diablo 1 were probably done in accordance to the class your picked at the time. Diablo 2's plot was obviously altered slightly. It would be asinine to fault Blizzard for a plot hole for the game when Diablo 2 wasn't even considered at the time.
Hardly a fail. Actually a win since they took the time to retell an appropriate story for all 3 original heroes and what happened to them.
It is possible i think, because Diablo 2 start when the warrior considered as the one who stab the soulstone at his head. Thus, It is highly possible if the rogue become blood raven.
Well, I think we can't blame diablo 1 for the ending, we can enjoy Diablo 2 storyline because this "bad" ending.
i find it funny that its a woman's voice screaming (the rogue) yet her face and body looks like a man. The body in fact is the same generic body model used for the Warrior's and Sorceror's ending cinematic. lol
Blood Raven is meant to be the corrupted rogue from Diablo 1? Blood Raven was weak haha my rogue is Diablo 1 was like level 30 and would totally own little ol' Blood Raven :) I would think whichever character you played as became Diablo, even the rogue.
Was it just me, or was the sound being made while the soul stone is removed exactly the same as the zerg eggs from the first starcraft... Listen carefully 0:19
Just finished playing this game (I know... I'm a late bloomer XD) as the Rogue for the first time (spammed Diablo up close with the Bow of Brilliance... for several seconds, he looked like he was raving o_O). Man, this ending is fucked up... why would anybody stick anything in their foreheads for power? Granted, this is necessary for future games, but still. Kinda reminds me of CarnEvil's ending where the dude puts the evil token back into the tombstone... again XD.
@CapnE625 Actually it wasnt so much for power as they were just trying to contain diablo within themselves, as Tal Rasha did, how much influence the stone had on them in the events leading it up to shoving it into their head, I cannot answer.
Oh God I remember being 7 years old when I got this ending for the first time. When she screamedI jumped straight out of my chair like those people who play those scary maze games hahaha.
If diablo was able to make king leoric go to war against a way bigger kingdom that his own, and mephisto was able to take over Kurast while imprisoned... this is pretty much a simple game for him :P
Diablo corrupts the heroe that you are playing, and I imaghine it is sort of Diablo himself that overcomes what little humainty the heroe has left when you defeat him, hence he makes you stab it into your forhead.
Ok I don't care how much of a hardcore Diablo fan you are, no one can justify the fact that shoving this stone into the hero's head was a good idea. Like why, who in the hell would even think of that, let alone consider it (for about 2 seconds), then actually shove it into their head? " Hey bro that rock looks pretty dangerous, wanna smash it on a rock?"
"No way dude, I'm gonna shove it right into my head!"
@5xOver I think the explanation that was given was that partly Diablo was already corrupting them, and also the hero had it in their head that they could contain Diablo instead of letting the soulstone cause more trouble in someone else. I admit, it's kind of laughable, but meh, that's how it goes.
The hero comes out of the cathedral clutching the soul stone wondering when the hell he's going to do with it. He spots two exhausted and dirty hobbits on their way to mount doom to destroy the ring of power...
@juthawong they don't, As explained by the enigma in the following scene. The hero which destroyed diablo's body tried to contain the demon's soul like tal rasha did with baal.
@juthawong to powerfull. Also they wanted to contain him and imprison him somewhere, cant remember where but i read it last day, altough warrior was not able to control it.
Also it was told diablo planned this from the start
I imagine all three heroes took part in Diablo 1's game, and all three were present when Diablo was defeated. The Rogue and Wizard returned to their homelands as Blood Raven and The Summoner, while the Warrior became Diablo's host. Diablo was able to recover enough strength while inhabiting the young prince's body to currupt all three of them.
@SiegeTF You're right, and you can learn this by listening to what the townsfolk say..but no one does this anymore, the game online is basically a race to get to high levels.
@SiegeTF I would have to agree. While Griswold was consumed by evil in the first village where the gateway directly to floor 30 opened in the backyard of the church of Trstram.. of course Blood Raven was the one but perhaps the sorcerer became that Nilfalak from the act5 red portal quest in Diablo 2.
@Kire667 Problem there is that Nilathak is (was) an elder from the barbarian viliage, and the sorcerer is described as being from the Vizjerei mage clan.
@SiegeTF Agreed, i believe the canon ending of Diablo 2 will have all 5 classes (maybe 7) present, and they will be present in Diablo 3, though not as antagonists but mentors
@SiegeTF i know mand thats wicked , what a tricker that diablo is, well what happened to the random heroes of diablo 2? sum1 know? in diablo 3 and evil big barbarian ? a crazy werewolf, a messed up assasin, a fallen paladin? =P
@iamnuff1992 A strong possibility, but there is also a chance they didn't and most of them are old as well and when the call went out they just could really answer it.
@avalonkiller All three were present, as supported by the flavor text in Diablo 2. Only the Warrior used the soulstone though. That is the 'canon' (not to be mistaken as 'cannon') ending. It's common for games with multiple protagonists or factions which have multiple endings that contradict one another to have one that is canon, which the sequels are based on, while the others are not canon.
Real time strategy franchises like Dawn Of War do this a lot, Starcraft is an exception.
@SiegeTF Actualy the sorceror never made it to tristram the story says that he was ambushed on his way to Tristram and actualy the Rogue was Andariel. If you stay a while and lissen to all people in the 1st and the 2nd city you will see what I`m talking about.
I dont thing that she is a blood rawen - in game, it is allways the players character, no matter who, that will became a dark wanderer. For storytelling and animation in D2 it is sayid that it was warrior. Suggesting that D1 rogue is a BR, that meand that she (and wizard) had to be in the game independently on player.
That all three characters were influenced in tristram. That you just pick 1 of them and end of game is optional story for rogue and wizard.
@HergotH01 I mean, all this "blood rawen and summoner" stuff is nice and maybe logical, but it has no logic at all. If they werent those who slain diablo in 1 (in D2 it is sayd it was warrior), how could they turn so nuts in D2.. it has the same logic as saying that Adrianne from D1 id the akara from 1st act of D2 or same probability that that rogue is the leader of rogues in D2.. OR that the malius from D2 is the farnham the drunk.. possible, but same way, improbable
Maybe your overlooking a fact. how i've always seen it, is sort of different to how the game shows it, but it would prove logical in lore. in my opinion all 3 characters killed diablo, but only one took diablos spirit (warrior). its like diablo 2, there are 5 (well, seven), and they are described as being a group of heros, not just individuals, in lore for diablo 3.
The Rogue from D1 did go on to be Blood Raven in D2. She was not the canon hero in D1, but it was acknowledged that she also battled Diablo's minions during the time of the first game.
Storyline wise, they all went against Diablo in Diablo 1. The Warrior was just the one who decided to take the soulstone in his head.
Just like how storyline wise, the entire cast from Diablo 2 went against Diablo and such. By Diablo 3, almost all of them are dead or insane except the Barbarian.
Not necessarily, when it comes to Diablo 3. We just don't play as the Diablo 2 characters in Diablo 3. As to the Barbarian, it's a class type, and therefore not necessarilly the exact same Barbarian as in Diablo 2, although he comes from the same group of people of course. Blizzard has stated that originally they didn't want to carry any classes over from Diablo 1 or 2, but ultimately their new warrior class so closely resembled D2's Barbarian that the went ahead and called him that.
I find her scream to be the scariest of the three. With the sorcerer, I can barely tell that he's actually screaming and with the warrior he doesn't have quite as frightening a face. I remember when I was three and my dad let me sit on his lap while he played this and quake 2. Good times, good times.
@gzerq Diablo: Hellfire is a bastard child.... blizzard does not acknowledge it as a sequel and Sierra ( the maker of hellfire ) has no information on the game on their homesite and pretty much ignores hellfire
The Summoner, the corrupted Mage from the Second Act that was impersonating Horazon, was evidently the Sorcerer in the first Diablo game. Jerhyn and Drognan speak of a near-insane Vizjerei mage who arrived in Lut Gholein (presumably seeking Horazon's sanctuary) claiming to have fought against Diablo in Tristram, suggesting that mage became the Summoner. The Summoner is also dark skinned, like the dark-skinned Sorcerer in the original Diablo.
Blood Raven was possessed by Andariel, not Diablo. Diablo possessed the Warrior, who then became the Wanderer. But it could be that all three classes were possessed. Since tha Wanderer and Blood Raven were dealt with, it ight leave the Sorcerer to be found in D3.
I dont andurstand. If you play whit rogue, it will came to blood raven (Scary voice...), if whit sorcerer, it came Summoner, and whit warrior came dark wandarer. So, if dark wandader killed diablo, how others get stones on their heads? (i know i wrote that wrong but i think you still understand me)
hes right. d2 places a male character as the bearer of the stone, but doesnt say what class. the only thing i dont get is how diablo was actually a child inside?
@doublesmokedham nah, the warrior is pretty obviously the wanderer. And Diablo isn't a child inside, Diablo posessed just posessed King Leoric's son for his mortal body.
You'd think that shoving a 5-inch spike of crystal would be enough to kill you immediately...

" Hey bro that rock looks pretty dangerous, wanna smash it on a rock?"
"No way dude, I'm gonna shove it right into my head!"
5xOver 1 year ago 9
@5xOver I think the explanation that was given was that partly Diablo was already corrupting them, and also the hero had it in their head that they could contain Diablo instead of letting the soulstone cause more trouble in someone else. I admit, it's kind of laughable, but meh, that's how it goes.
IrishDaemon 1 year ago
@5xOver
The hero comes out of the cathedral clutching the soul stone wondering when the hell he's going to do with it. He spots two exhausted and dirty hobbits on their way to mount doom to destroy the ring of power...
You can guess the rest.

@juthawong they don't, As explained by the enigma in the following scene. The hero which destroyed diablo's body tried to contain the demon's soul like tal rasha did with baal.

@SiegeTF You're right, and you can learn this by listening to what the townsfolk say..but no one does this anymore, the game online is basically a race to get to high levels.
coolbeverage 1 year ago
@SiegeTF I would have to agree. While Griswold was consumed by evil in the first village where the gateway directly to floor 30 opened in the backyard of the church of Trstram.. of course Blood Raven was the one but perhaps the sorcerer became that Nilfalak from the act5 red portal quest in Diablo 2.
Kire667 1 year ago
@Kire667 Problem there is that Nilathak is (was) an elder from the barbarian viliage, and the sorcerer is described as being from the Vizjerei mage clan.

iamnuff1992 1 year ago
@SiegeTF if all three were present, then how can all three of them put one soul stone into their foreheads? =D
avalonkiller 1 year ago
@avalonkiller All three were present, as supported by the flavor text in Diablo 2. Only the Warrior used the soulstone though. That is the 'canon' (not to be mistaken as 'cannon') ending. It's common for games with multiple protagonists or factions which have multiple endings that contradict one another to have one that is canon, which the sequels are based on, while the others are not canon.
Real time strategy franchises like Dawn Of War do this a lot, Starcraft is an exception.
SiegeTF 1 year ago
@SiegeTF
Apparently, the 'Summoner' went insane and made himself believe he was Tal Rasha.
yichl 1 year ago
@SiegeTF you clearly see the Rogue jamming the soulstone into her forehead (that's why there are 3 different endings) it's in the last few seconds
phlexonance 8 months ago

HergotH01 2 years ago
@HergotH01 I mean, all this "blood rawen and summoner" stuff is nice and maybe logical, but it has no logic at all. If they werent those who slain diablo in 1 (in D2 it is sayd it was warrior), how could they turn so nuts in D2.. it has the same logic as saying that Adrianne from D1 id the akara from 1st act of D2 or same probability that that rogue is the leader of rogues in D2.. OR that the malius from D2 is the farnham the drunk.. possible, but same way, improbable
HergotH01 2 years ago
Maybe your overlooking a fact. how i've always seen it, is sort of different to how the game shows it, but it would prove logical in lore. in my opinion all 3 characters killed diablo, but only one took diablos spirit (warrior). its like diablo 2, there are 5 (well, seven), and they are described as being a group of heros, not just individuals, in lore for diablo 3.
Cresentsmile 2 years ago
The Rogue from D1 did go on to be Blood Raven in D2. She was not the canon hero in D1, but it was acknowledged that she also battled Diablo's minions during the time of the first game.
Shipgate 2 years ago
@Shipgate
Bingo.
Kitsune44X 2 years ago
Storyline wise, they all went against Diablo in Diablo 1. The Warrior was just the one who decided to take the soulstone in his head.
Just like how storyline wise, the entire cast from Diablo 2 went against Diablo and such. By Diablo 3, almost all of them are dead or insane except the Barbarian.
Thaeru 2 years ago
@Thaeru
Kitsune44X 2 years ago
@Kitsune44X:
The Diablo 3's barbarian (male) is confirmed to be the same barbarian. He's just aged since then.

sartanko 2 years ago 2

Yes blood raven is the rouge from D1, just like the Summoner is the sorcerer from D1, and the wanderer is the warrior from D1
LlONONWOLEGS 1 year ago
I find her scream to be the scariest of the three. With the sorcerer, I can barely tell that he's actually screaming and with the warrior he doesn't have quite as frightening a face. I remember when I was three and my dad let me sit on his lap while he played this and quake 2. Good times, good times.

gzerq, the Monk from Hellfire does not really exist in the Diablo universe because Hellfire is not an official Blizzard product.
MrStillmans 2 years ago
Ok if the original 3 characters become bosses in the later game, then what about the monk character in Diablo: Hellfire?
gzerq 2 years ago

StealthSteel 2 years ago
Blood Raven was possessed by Andariel, not Diablo. Diablo possessed the Warrior, who then became the Wanderer. But it could be that all three classes were possessed. Since tha Wanderer and Blood Raven were dealt with, it ight leave the Sorcerer to be found in D3.

I dont andurstand. If you play whit rogue, it will came to blood raven (Scary voice...), if whit sorcerer, it came Summoner, and whit warrior came dark wandarer. So, if dark wandader killed diablo, how others get stones on their heads? (i know i wrote that wrong but i think you still understand me)

blood raven and the summoner don't have any crystal in they'r head, they just became insane after Diablo 1

hes right. d2 places a male character as the bearer of the stone, but doesnt say what class. the only thing i dont get is how diablo was actually a child inside?

The prince, moron.
