NFS series are not what it use to be...High Stakes,Hot Pursuit,Underground series,MW And Carbon for me were the last best of EA.Who cares about realism?We already have GT and Forza.I love illegal street racing,cops,storylines,fast cars and fast passe racing.Who needs crappy games like these?I mean make MW2 or Underground3 for fuck sake,make people happy and not frustrated. Slightly Mad Studios works on Shift, Criterion Studio works on NFS Hot Pursuit, Black Box Studio is the one you want, they made Most Wanted and Underground. If you want to bitch go to the NFS The Run videos, that was made by the people who make Underground and Most Wanted.

@TheGarcia350 Go ahead. But I have been playing NFS since PSone so I do know what the series is all about. But it's a franchise. It doesn't follow a specific storyline or anything. So there is absolutely nothing wrong with Shift. It's a great game. No sense in people getting upset with Slightly Mad, no sense in hating on Shift. It has not done anything to fuck up the series. Black Box are the ones that keep fucking up. Criterion and Slightly Mad are making great games.

@contracts47 Actually I'd have to disagree with you about one game that black box made, and thats Undercover. With the exception of the PS2 control for acceleration, I have to say they did a really good job with undercover. Criterion fucked up when the took away the manual transmission option in Hot Pursuit. I wanted the game when I saw the preview and as soon as I started playing it and couldn't shift manually, I said screw it and went back to MW and Undercover

What happened to the older non-driving-simulation games? Games like Rush, Cruisin USA, Lamborgini, and such. Heck, Beetle Adventure Racing is my favorite racing game still and it was all about fun and adventure. Grab that nitro, grab that metal morph, slam into an opponent's car and they explode. But.... NFS is my favorite current gen racing game series. If I want a driving-simulator game, I'd go outside and drive my car.... rundown some J walkers, lol jk.

@KingDevil444 Problem with the NFS series since Underground etc. was, it was NOT NFS anymore. The original NFS on 3DO - Hot Pursuit 2 was all about tracks in DIFFERENT envirnoments (snowy mountain, deserts etc.) and luxury cars such as the Ferrari 360, Jaguar XJ220 or Lamborghini Diablo SV (ok except NFS Porsche) and not Golf GTI or Corsa and in only 1 city (and only 1 daytime, at night). Not saying it was bad, it just wasn't Need for Speed anymore. Oh yeah, NFS Shift is good, kinda like GRID.

@KingDevil444 Most Wanted and Undercover aren't "original" NFS's either :) even though they had luxury cars, but i always hated only 1 location - a big city to drive in, and i really couldn't care less about the Story and the tuning part (Midnight Club holds the crown when it comes to this). I'm still hoping EA will eventually release a NFS title that just plays like High Stakes or NFS 3 Hot Pursuit(not the Criterion one), still playing those on my PC while the newer ones are long forgotten...

But then again, i love Sim (Gran Turismo, Forza, GTR, GT Legends, Race 07, rFactor) aswell as Arcade racers (the old NFS's, Burnout Revenge etc.) and games that plays like both of them mixed together (Race Driver 1-3, GRID) :)

@KingDevil444 I play any type of game, be it Shooters (1st person or sidescrolling shmups), racing, RPG (western aswell as japanese) or Action/Adventures (point & click or Tomb Raider, Uncharted, Zelda & Darksiders). I'm not really into a singe genre, but when it comes to 1st person shooters i highly prefer the SciFi stuff like Resistance or Gears of War (ok, thats 3rd person, whatever) or F.E.A.R. rather than the CoD, Battlefield or Homefront etc. stuff. But you're right, i love racing games :)

@M3IDEH NFSU2 for me may be a fun game, but certainly isn't the best in the series. Story is pretty forgettable, and the game is pretty riced up (roof scoops and spoilers anyone?). The Hot Pursuit games and High Stakes are feel are the most fun. You don't need to mod your car, just choose a car and drive fast.

Shift got a better review than Shift 2 and I personally like the first one a lot better. 2 is deeper though with more tracks, more cars, and just more to do in general. The racing in the 2nd one isn't as good though and it is a harder game to play. I like the first game because it sounds good, it's easy to play, it's realistic yet has an arcade feel to it. Both are good games, the first is just better in my opinion. Hope this helps, you can't go wrong with either game.

After playing GT5 for so long and trying to come back to playing this game, it was just a big change in gameplay. Shift, when you drive you are more easily to spin out at any speeds over 75+. GT5's gameplay was just about right and felt more comfortable driving. I was seriously getting mad every single time I spun out and had to restart each time.
