  • You can say what you want about Duran Duran but this video still stands a quarter of a century later!

  • Oh my, I never saw the video before...I have got 40 version of this song... And this is the very first time I see the video. God Bless Youtube!!!!

  • i was totally into them...i saved money so i could buy a fedora, like JT

    that was music!

  • duran duran are like nits

  • @fuckamericanidiot they get on your scalp and suck your blood?!

  • @mtullie yeah

  • this song always reminds me of StarCraft xD

  • I remember this when it came out. This was Duran's first new track since "Rio", and it entered the singles chart at No.1 in early 1983. They were absolutely massive at this point, in commercial terms. I think their actual musical talent didn't always get the respect it deserved back then, because they were seen as...y'know, "teen pop" or a "boy-band" or whatever. But their music really stands the test of time.

  • Like this vid!!!!! ***** 5 stars!!!!!!

  • Is it me, or does Simon LeBon look a little like Robert Pattenson from "Twilight?"

  • It makes a change to see some blokes not grabbing their nuts for a change!!

  • Seems like yesterday..not 27 years ago.

  • J'aime le côté Kitsh des années 80 dont nous faire part ce clip fabuleux.

"I like the Kitsh of the 80's that we make share this wonderful clip"

Duran Duran reste à jamais mon groupe favoris, merci les mecs :D

  • Wow I haven't heard this song since I was a little girl, love it :)

  • Love this song!

  • @laganas2008

Oh yeah, true, my mom always says that when we watch the video---she was a teenager in the 80's and I love the 80's as well, even if I'm just 21

  • @MARIANWN Cool, I'm 29 and I love the 80's too, I was very young but I do remember all these videos and pop stars and loved it all.

  • @laganas2008

  • ,,,,and still in love this band and their music.

  • Le Bon in them trews......... oh lordy

  • People went apeshit 4 Duran Duran in the 80's

  • ahhhhh back to the junior high days when i was absolutely obsessed with these guys! thanks!

  • young guy in the office is wearing a blue shirt with a white tie today... totally reminded me of this video... the sad thing is, he was born the same year this video came out... *sigh*

  • I have to ask. Why do some Youtube users disable embedding? Embedding does not reduce hits. Views of embedded vids still count toward the total number of hits. I just don't see any logical reason to disable embedding, even if the content does belong to the poster.

  • Went to #4 on the Hot 100 in August 1983.

  • Man, I feel old. That baby crawling on all fours in this video is almost 30 years old today. I'm not that much older but fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck where did the years go???

  • There is something everyone should know, how awesome Duran Duran are!!!!

  • Starcraft!

  • Comment removed

  • This is Rock/Pop Composer Robert Nix-a fine track with a 'double hook' in the song-great tone on both the electric and bass guitars-nice keyboard backing by Rhodes-great vocals.

  • @onthemoveagain i agree this song is a classic, a very underrated tune, great smooth bass tone & nice & funky in the slap parts in the chorus at the end, nice keyboards & guitar tight drums, perfect.

  • Holy 80s Batman!

    Classic.

  • I think this is their best video! Damn, they look hot!!

  • @rsf1017 Yes they do!!! Even know!!!

  • One of the more underrated numbers next to "Planet Earth"

  • The 80s were such a great time to be alive. I feel sorry for anyone who wasn't around yet. You missed a great era.

  • @NyteScrybe what is even better is they cut it live today like they did back then, well said.

  • the best ever!

  • Simon's body looks so hot in that outfit. Nothing more to say that hasn't already been said -- great, great stuff that holds up over the years.

  • i just love this song

  • This video continues to amaze me of the effects and images which were way ahead its of time. Even the shadows and timing of the cuts to the beat of the song. And yeah, one heck of a bass performance

  • its good to see rodger is enjoying himself...NOT

he looks so annoyed and miserable compared to the others!

    ha, i love this song!

    x

  • Simons long legs in those trousers.............oh lordy

  • Quite simply the best band ever! Nick was & still is absolutely stunning..........

  • Thanks for posting this video. I am making folders with videos of songs from my early Duran records.

  • I truly remember this mtv when i was

a kid in the Philippines back in the 80's

  • This was a bad ass song back when i was 15 and its still a great song.

Great memories from this song. Ty for posting it!!

  • These guys kick ass; * all those poser 80s bands this is the real deal

  • Love this video

  • Love this video. Could watch it over and over!!!

  • Duran Duran and Is There Something I Should Know: A year 1983 hit, proving that Duran Duran are not one hit wonders, as they showed a second hit after their year 1982 releases of Rio and Hungry Like A Wolf. Duran Duran started a long music career with this song.

  • I love Beatle's Style!

  • super nice guitar rythem trough the whole song

  • one of my fav tunes by the band. Although, Simons facial expressions in this vid are a lil OTT

  • @mrlee192 WRONG you ponce. OTT??? Yeah you probably would like it if he was doing boring emo lingering sympathy stares! TeeHee, you saddo! His facial expressions MAKE this video! Wakey Wakey retard! ;P

  • @ariesscorpiorising total over-reaction to a harmless comment.

N fuck you, i LOATHE emo.

  • @mrlee192 You are a cocoa shunter, and you ARE emo!! AhAhAhAAAAAHHHHH!! Take it easy! ;)

  • wow!! I love Nick Rhodes: 4:03 HANDSOME!!!! :)

  • @gabtibette i was OBSESSED with Nick. I couldnt understand how a man could be so pretty and still masculine at the same time.

Also had a thing for big lips Le Bon!

No, seriously, DD were THE band of the 80's. They pissed all over Spandau.

  • @sweetassnumba7 Very well put. You have captured a large part of Nick's magic in one sentence...........

  • love this song!

  • OMG, the similarity to Curiosity Killed The Cat's song when it kicks in at 0:20! 8-o Love the hair and mini-ties. How cute. :-D

  • Hit #3 rock, #4 pop in the US (Billboard). How'd it do in the UK? God bless!

  • 1980's Celebrity DeathMatch time once again, sports fans...

Simon Le Bon versus Rick Astley

WHO could kick who's ass...? And more importantly, WHY?

The winner of this match goes on to do battle with George Wham Michaels...

  • @DancingSpiderman HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

  • @tommyleeswoman14 Wellll?

    Simon LeBon or Rick Astley?

Who could kick who's ass? and WHY?

  • @DancingSpiderman Wellll, I think Simon could take him myself. Have you ever seen the Family Guy episode where they make fun of Rick Astley?? It's flipping hilarious:)) I just can't see Rick beating anyone's ass hahah Who do you think would win and do battle with George?

  • @tommyleeswoman14 i have to find that episode on the YourTube... sounds funny.

In a fair, 1on1 fight, Rick Astley would PWN Simon because Rick's more manly voice would induce a slight cowering in Simon, a chink in Simon's armor of bravado that Astley would pummel thru, making Simon eventually cry Uncle.

But, Simon would fight DIRTY, and pull out his drummer, little wee man Roger Taylor as Simon's Secret Weapon, and defeat Rick with a million little cuts from the drumstick lacerations

  • @DancingSpiderman But in the semi-final match, George Michaels comes down with a nasty painful yeast infection due to his hankie-spankie business he frequently has at the public loo, and so the fight promoters find a last-minute replacement in Roland Gift from Fine Young Cannibals.

Las Vegas betmakers place lousy 127-to-1 odds on Roland Gift, many of whom say will tap out in a fetal position sissy-boy slapdown.

  • never mess with the double Ds, unless she lets you, of course.

  • Duran Duran were:

    Simon Lebon-Lead Singer

    Nick Rhoades- Keyboard Player

    Roger Taylor-Drums

    Andy Taylor - Guitar

    John Taylor - Bass

  • You'd think after all these years, someone would edit out that hair in andy's closeup. Otherwise, magic :)

  • Never got this video but it's a fantastci song and Matt La Bon or w.e his name is, is fiiiiiiiit!

  • genius

  • love it....

  • I love Simon in this video !!! Look at those lips!! Danm!!!!!

  • 1980s,looking at duran, falling inlove with simon, still feel the same as i did, saddo but there you go

  • Man, now THATZ some eye candy!! And I think only one of them is gay! They don't make em like that anymore...that's for sure. Awesome song and video.

  • @amnesiantoinette dont think any of them are gay but i must agree on the eye candy comment!

  • excellent track....top group

  • Yes; you're the best band EVER!!!!!

Simon looks like he is walking amongst hair follicles at the beginning, LOL

  • i WAS JUST THINKIN THE SAME THING DMICHAEL. FROM 3:35 ON EVERYONE SHOULD BE ABLE TO HEAR THAT NOW. REMASTERING FTW!!

  • i love the mix of this song they used in the video more. better outro, you can hear john's bad ass slap bass more. definitely the funkiest white boy to ever pick up a bass. give this man more credit! bad ass bass player.

  • Wow. Memories, hey?

This was definately their best song from that era.

  • definitely their best song!

  • My favourite song from whom is still my favourite group. No group in the 80s understood the power of visual media like Duran Duran. Their savvy manipulation of music and video still ranks among the best I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. These guys had it all.

  • @yargh92 , Gary Numan was pretty astute @ that new medium of the day. In fact, the whole triangle, geometric vibe reminded me of Telekon a bit.

  • @yargh92 I agree completely that they were awesome then and now. I'm on the verge of 41 and their music still touches such special places in my Heart.

  • @yargh92 I couldnt have said it better myself.........in the pioneer days of music Videos....these guys were the shit. They were cutting edge......and thats just the videos...the music..PURE GOLD.

  • @yargh92 Amen to that. They had it all , and still do , no other group like them , then and then even now.

  • @yargh92 OMDD I know! one reason why I miss the 80s sooo very badly!

  • @yargh92 I totally agree. This was the song that started my love affair w/ DD's music. I am still a fan.

  • @yargh92 I couldn't agree more!!!! love Duran Duran loved the 80's!

  • Duran duran the best

  • LOL...mind you, I totally dig them.

  • ahhh i love this band

  • I forgot how much I loved this song. I was about 15 when it came out. I thought Simon was gorgeous. I never got to see them live, but when I looked at concert footage of them from back then they sounded incredible live. I'm 40 now, but when I hear this I am 15 again. WOW!!

  • im with you all the way in what you said, and im 40 too !and i got to see them twice for free if your interested in what happened,x

  • it seems that the 2 years i lived in 80s are taking over me, sure 80s the best ♥

  • There used to be a time I would literally scream at the sight of this video on TV or whenever I heard the song on the radio. It annoyed my older brothers but I didn't care. The music was awesome and it made me ecstatically happy.

Ah, the joyful memories of youth!!

  • I did the exact same thing. They were the first group where I knew everyone's name and I wanted to marry 3 of them. No one did videos like DD, the 80s were just such an incredible time. And the videos still are better than any today, in my opinion.

  • Duran Fans...especiallly John Taylor fans. Have you visited his facebook page and got a peek at some of his photos? Ok, I'm so bad, old and frisky but WOW. He's a lil' hottie

  • Well this is my number one of all time favorits

  • Hay algo que deberia saber, y es que los Duran estan con toda su adrenalina en este sensacional video woaaaaaaaa

  • so what is the song about then?

  • such brilliant boys

  • The Video is longer then the song is on cd's. This version was the actual lenth of the track when they recorded it. The record company shortened it when editing. They should have left it alone

  • WOW! I always thaught this song was about a girl/guy. Pay close attention to the symbolic figures used in the video along with the actual words and thier tones! CHEERS!

  • great as it's always been

  • Those Duran Duran outfits were the HIGHLIGHT of fashion in the Early 80s. If you walked into a school party looking like that you had all the girls asking you for a dance.

Those baggy trousers and narrow leg cuffs were a rejection of the tight fitting - bell bottom pants of the 70s.

MAN! It seems like only yesterday and it was the awesome 80s----now it is the 21st century......what the hell happened?

  • @ThoughtTraveler Yea, I remember using saftey pins to get that effect at the cuffs of my pants when I was in elementary(to show of my creepers). The beauty of the nuwave era is that it can be appreciated now and forever because of the emerging self expresions that are sported today are bland compared to that era. CHEERS!

  • Safety Pins....why did I not think of that : D

  • BASS LINE!!!! Dang, any one who thinks he isn't one of the best bass players ever is smoking somethin' funny.

  • @kmichelle001... He IS the best bass player!

  • @kmichelle001 totaly agree! thier bass player rocks, you should also check out Blur -"girls and boys", also a bassline masterpiece although nowhere near duran durans overall essence.

  • Totally agree - you are so right.

  • @kmichelle001 His playing is outstanding on every single track. For me his work on Notorious is his best.

  • @kmichelle001 NIck Beggs of Kajagoogoo, and Mick Karn of Japan come pretty darn close.

  • @MikeyMcCrashCap for sure man i agree, also some great bass work by Mark Lickley in the band ABC'S album Lexicon of Love its wicked.

  • @kmichelle001 i agree jt is an awesome player, great bass lines & tone, turned me into a bassists for some 25 years know, i love the bass glissando at 3.34 simple but effective

  • @kmichelle001 IKR? JT is way underrated as are all of DD JUST cos they were put in Tiger Beat! and 16 and Rockline

  • que guapisimos!!!!!!!!!!!! XP :P :P XD XD hemrosos maravillosos dueños de un gran y genial estilo musical, artistico, estilo en moda fabulosisimos!!!!

  • FANTASTIC!!!

  • The bit where he's walking through the black spikes looks like a hair advert lol

  • From what I recall, it has very sexual undertones, the whole video is a subconscious journey.

  • I strongly disagree with opinions that Duran duran is just the good looking band. They offer a good quality of pop music. (Un)fortunately, they have good looks. They cannot be blame for it, they were born with it. Btw, thank you for posting it :)

  • Duran Duran had a unique sound, one that is timeless and without category. Their first two albums are masterpieces, and they had enough respect for themselves and their fans to give us innovative videos and songs that still stand-up, and...as for the fore, look better than anything by new artists, and or, their contemporaries. I would love to write and produce songs for them!!!

  • Dawn loves DURAN DURAN. I love this video!!!

  • i love this song and video-tori ann steele

  • iba talaga 80's noh?mgagaan lng mga buhay ng mga tao nun araw taz colorful un mga clothes pa dati naalala q 2loy un movie na bagets mdalas q nppanood sa cable nmin...napanood q concert ng duran duran sa dvd ko sa haus live from london year 2005 pa grabe dame tao nanood gandang ganda ako dun super...duran duran is the best 80's icon...

  • I thought the same thing about Simon when I first saw him...something about him & Elvis was very similar.

  • freeze frame 3:59 the guy deserves an oscar ;-)

  • MSiCEWiRE

SIMON IS NOT WEARING A MINI TIE !!

THE TIE WAS TUCKED INTO THE FRONT OF THE SHIRT AT MIDPOINT (THE CENTER)

THAT WAS 80"S FASHION !! (LOOK CLOSELY)!!

  • wow. shut the hell up. i dont effin care. thank you! have a nice (bad) day.

  • MSiCEWiRE

YOU ARE A DAMNED IDIOT !!

    YOU SHUT UP !!

YOU HAVE A LOUSY DAY !!

  • If you don't like them, then why are you searching them out on youtube? maybe you would spend better time watching videos you actually like. And, to be perfectly clear, you are the most worthless music lover I've ever encountered.

  • My aunt, who was as crazy for Elvis Presley in the '50s as her nephews and nieces were as crazy for DD in the '80s, thought that S.Le.B. reminded her of The King in this vid . . . Kinda cool, actually

  • nice mini tie Simon XD

  • LMAO. I think it's a regular tie tucked into his shirt...

  • LOOOVE This Song!!!

  • this video always makes me happy !!!

    i miss the 80s..tears !

  • We used to have a "new-wave night at a local drinking establishment on thursday nights.I recorded this song on an old casette player when it first appeared on Mtv.We danced to it that night at the club.I was a bit of a celebrity seeing as it was not officially released yet!Love it very much.Wish DD would do more songs that sound like they used too???

  • local drinking establishment? lol im sorry im just a naive teenager:) but yeah duran duran is indeed awesome

  • My #1 favorite Duran Duran song of all time!

  • They're guys. And they're not bitches.

  • LMAO!

  • No.

  • I heard this is among many videos of theirs costing one million dollars to make and their record label foot the bill.I know they got their money back millions of times over.

  • Honestly? It gets absolutely NO better than Duan Duran. The 80s, 90s or now even. I am so obsessedly in love with them. Always have been (since I was about 6 in 1986) til now. lol

  • Comment removed

  • I LOVE YOU ANDY TAYLOR!

  • back in 1983(summer) this was known as VIDEO BRILLIANCE!! fancy editing....fancy camera shots mixed in with color and black and white....Duran Duran are geniusis for making this video the way they did.....LOVE IT

  • i
