I remember this when it came out. This was Duran's first new track since "Rio", and it entered the singles chart at No.1 in early 1983. They were absolutely massive at this point, in commercial terms. I think their actual musical talent didn't always get the respect it deserved back then, because they were seen as...y'know, "teen pop" or a "boy-band" or whatever. But their music really stands the test of time.
i'm 35 i remember this group as well as a few others such as crowded house, saga, boomtown rats, golden earring, man MTV was good to me. MTV u SHOULD GO BACK TO UR ORIGINAL WAY OF VIDEOS & ONLY VIDEOS!!!!!
young guy in the office is wearing a blue shirt with a white tie today... totally reminded me of this video... the sad thing is, he was born the same year this video came out... *sigh*
I have to ask. Why do some Youtube users disable embedding? Embedding does not reduce hits. Views of embedded vids still count toward the total number of hits. I just don't see any logical reason to disable embedding, even if the content does belong to the poster.
Man, I feel old. That baby crawling on all fours in this video is almost 30 years old today. I'm not that much older but fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck where did the years go???
This is Rock/Pop Composer Robert Nix-a fine track with a 'double hook' in the song-great tone on both the electric and bass guitars-nice keyboard backing by Rhodes-great vocals.
@onthemoveagain i agree this song is a classic, a very underrated tune, great smooth bass tone & nice & funky in the slap parts in the chorus at the end, nice keyboards & guitar tight drums, perfect.
This video continues to amaze me of the effects and images which were way ahead its of time. Even the shadows and timing of the cuts to the beat of the song. And yeah, one heck of a bass performance
i was 15 wen i saw this vidio and i still watch it now at 42 lol it would have to be the most fav one of all there vidios,i been a van since they hit the seen and still am ,i saw them wen they first came to australia and wow wat a concert never get tired of listning and watching them no-1 fan
Duran Duran and Is There Something I Should Know: A year 1983 hit, proving that Duran Duran are not one hit wonders, as they showed a second hit after their year 1982 releases of Rio and Hungry Like A Wolf. Duran Duran started a long music career with this song.
@mrlee192 WRONG you ponce. OTT??? Yeah you probably would like it if he was doing boring emo lingering sympathy stares! TeeHee, you saddo! His facial expressions MAKE this video! Wakey Wakey retard! ;P
@DancingSpiderman Wellll, I think Simon could take him myself. Have you ever seen the Family Guy episode where they make fun of Rick Astley?? It's flipping hilarious:)) I just can't see Rick beating anyone's ass hahah Who do you think would win and do battle with George?
@tommyleeswoman14 i have to find that episode on the YourTube... sounds funny.
In a fair, 1on1 fight, Rick Astley would PWN Simon because Rick's more manly voice would induce a slight cowering in Simon, a chink in Simon's armor of bravado that Astley would pummel thru, making Simon eventually cry Uncle.
But, Simon would fight DIRTY, and pull out his drummer, little wee man Roger Taylor as Simon's Secret Weapon, and defeat Rick with a million little cuts from the drumstick lacerations
@DancingSpiderman But in the semi-final match, George Michaels comes down with a nasty painful yeast infection due to his hankie-spankie business he frequently has at the public loo, and so the fight promoters find a last-minute replacement in Roland Gift from Fine Young Cannibals.
Las Vegas betmakers place lousy 127-to-1 odds on Roland Gift, many of whom say will tap out in a fetal position sissy-boy slapdown.
i love the mix of this song they used in the video more. better outro, you can hear john's bad ass slap bass more. definitely the funkiest white boy to ever pick up a bass. give this man more credit! bad ass bass player.
My favourite song from whom is still my favourite group. No group in the 80s understood the power of visual media like Duran Duran. Their savvy manipulation of music and video still ranks among the best I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. These guys had it all.

WOW! I always thaught this song was about a girl/guy. Pay close attention to the symbolic figures used in the video along with the actual words and thier tones! CHEERS!
Those Duran Duran outfits were the HIGHLIGHT of fashion in the Early 80s. If you walked into a school party looking like that you had all the girls asking you for a dance.

I strongly disagree with opinions that Duran duran is just the good looking band. They offer a good quality of pop music. (Un)fortunately, they have good looks. They cannot be blame for it, they were born with it. Btw, thank you for posting it :)
Duran Duran had a unique sound, one that is timeless and without category. Their first two albums are masterpieces, and they had enough respect for themselves and their fans to give us innovative videos and songs that still stand-up, and...as for the fore, look better than anything by new artists, and or, their contemporaries. I would love to write and produce songs for them!!!
iba talaga 80's noh?mgagaan lng mga buhay ng mga tao nun araw taz colorful un mga clothes pa dati naalala q 2loy un movie na bagets mdalas q nppanood sa cable nmin...napanood q concert ng duran duran sa dvd ko sa haus live from london year 2005 pa grabe dame tao nanood gandang ganda ako dun super...duran duran is the best 80's icon...
If you don't like them, then why are you searching them out on youtube? maybe you would spend better time watching videos you actually like. And, to be perfectly clear, you are the most worthless music lover I've ever encountered.
My aunt, who was as crazy for Elvis Presley in the '50s as her nephews and nieces were as crazy for DD in the '80s, thought that S.Le.B. reminded her of The King in this vid . . . Kinda cool, actually
We used to have a "new-wave night at a local drinking establishment on thursday nights.I recorded this song on an old casette player when it first appeared on Mtv.We danced to it that night at the club.I was a bit of a celebrity seeing as it was not officially released yet!Love it very much.Wish DD would do more songs that sound like they used too???
I heard this is among many videos of theirs costing one million dollars to make and their record label foot the bill.I know they got their money back millions of times over.
Honestly? It gets absolutely NO better than Duan Duran. The 80s, 90s or now even. I am so obsessedly in love with them. Always have been (since I was about 6 in 1986) til now. lol
back in 1983(summer) this was known as VIDEO BRILLIANCE!! fancy editing....fancy camera shots mixed in with color and black and white....Duran Duran are geniusis for making this video the way they did.....LOVE IT

From what I recall, it has very sexual undertones, the whole video is a subconscious journey.
