I absolutely love this simulator. It's just sublime. I went from now knowing jack about flying heli's to being able to fly them around without crashing, to even doing a few tricks, and all of these techniques translate perfectly into real life. I can't wait to upgrade to G5.

sometimes noobs use them for hover training.usually 2 gyros 1 for elevator 1 for rudder. adds stablization. i would very much like to see you do this from fixed posistion camera veiw.

it is photoreal you can hit trees and all other objects. it's not really a game persay. it's an rc flight trainer. i'm in canada and here it retails for about $200 comes with the radio transmitter. if your interested type G4 realflight downloads into your search engine. there is a demo version available. it kinda sucks on the keyboard but at least you can check it out before you spend $ on it. feel free to ask more ques. Im no expert but i think its just a really aerobatic plane...dunno if it actualy has anything to do with the axis it flies on X Y Z

but you do get 4D now, pilots with a Variable Pitch prop can actualy hover ON the prop instead of hanging from it like you see on 1:11

a 3D airplane is one that can fly just as well upside down as it does upright. Normally it also has much more sensitive controls for aerobatic maneuvers.

i have the demo and i can do all the tricks but how do u do a vertical hover?

The same way you get to Carnegie Hall. Practice Practice Practice.

Grab yourself something big - (see my posts to KurtG85 below).

Take off.

As soon as the tail lifts and you can get the wheels off the ground do so, but before it builds up too much speed throttle right back and pull up to vertical.

Once you are vertical start feeding in the throttle again, slowly until you are just about moving upwards. Play with the throttle to maintain a hover. Thats the easy part.

You need now to use the rudder and elevator in particular to keep the airframe vertical. If look at Coonak's vid closely you will see the surfaces moving all the time. Its a little like balancing a yard brush on your hand. I find rolling in a hover the most difficult part.

Finally one the plane starts to get unrecoverable bang open the throttle and power out of it to avoid a crunch.

Practice using something high powered and large. The Yak 54 is ideal. The Extra 300L is ok but not as fast on the roll axis. The CAP232 is pretty good but much less forgiving than the other 2.

Pull up to the vertical to begin with. Then put in full down elevator, full right (or left) aileron and full rudder in the same direction.

You can use opposite rudder but same direction gives a proper outside flick/snap.

I found the Yak54 (3d) about the best. Its big and has more power than you need. The Extra is a great pattern flyer but if you want your 1/3 scale pilot's eyes to pop out his head go for the 3D versions.

I captured the video 'Live' (not playback recordings (which you could do as well) using FRAPS, then edited and converted the movies using any Vid editing software such as Windows Movie Maker or Sony Vegas. Then upload that here! ;)

the throttle is the numbers 1-0 one is zero and 0 is highest. the up and down are elevators and right and left are ailerons. a and s are rudder. to use the use keyboard i think you have to go to the menu and select controller.

Not really, just try a few different types of planes and find the one that suits your style. Like 3D, Gliders or Pattern and just practice, practice, practice and then give it a shot in real life..... It's the best way to improve your skills. It has helped me tremendously.

Just one question though, it wasn't fully made clear in previous posts but someone was telling me that you can use your actual RC transmitter with a usb connection, is this true? or must you have the actualy controller?

You can use your own RC Transmitter but you have to plug it into the 'Real Flight' controller via link cable.

nice flying. i wanted to get a heli, but i also wanted a plane, i consulted my friend ,who has a heli, about it, and he said get this sim, its cheaper than a $150 heli and repetitive broken parts, plus i would get planes and all those other goodies. now, i wanted to know if you could install this on multiple comps, cause i visit family every now and then, and being able to do that would save a whole lot of trouble.

The water is very shallow where I take off from.

I am using FRAPS to capture the simulator. In FRAPS settings, back the capture rate off to about 50fps, and the vids come out nice and smooth!
