The uniforms Hollywood used for this movie are not authentic, as the Panzer uniform worn during the battle of the bulge was reed green, they had been wearing black woolen tunics to hide the oil stains common to armored crewman everywhere but were phased out in 1943. These uniforms are more like SS uniforms. The panzer troops wore a grey turtleneck sweater by the way.

Great song, great movie. German soldiers were some of the best in the world with fine weaponry. The MG42 machine gun, Tiger tank and 88mm anti-tank, anti-aircraft gun were all fearsome. A few SS and other Germans served to give the entire German nation a dark scar that has remained. But, they are cultured, refined and have recovered from those war years.

But tank troops today don't wear a shade of such stark contrast like black, nor do they have totenkopf insignia or pink waffenfarbe on their shoulders the way the Germans did. One need not be in the armed forces to know this much.

The uniforms Hollywood used for this movie are not authentic, as the Panzer uniform worn during the battle of the bulge was reed green, they had been wearing black woolen tunics to hide the oil stains common to armored crewman everywhere but were phased out in 1943. These uniforms are more like SS uniforms. The panzer troops wore a grey turtleneck sweater by the way.
