  • Thanks, salva0r92. Your English is good.

Actually I bought the car with this Engine in it. I posted this Video to show how well the Engine ran before swapping in a Nissan SR20. I sold the Toyota Engine.

The Toyota Engine could have been installed MUCH better with decent planning (as the SR20 is now).

There was a lot of rubbing and interference with steering linkage with a rigged trans cross-member and Engine Mounts.

  • Nice car! Hey man, did you have many problems instaling a toyota engine inside a datsun?? I mean, how did you get fine with the engine´s supports and all that stuff? Sorry for my bad english.

  • esta chingon el carrito yo tuve uno pero nada que ver felicidades.

    me gustaria tener otro

pero quisiera saber cuanto dinero le metiste

  • I'm loving those ITBs. Toyota motor in a datto? Screw the purists.

  • why?

  • I had two 510s a '74 toyota carolla and a '70 240. I love 60-70's japanese hot rods, great job, that stock header does keep the noise down inside the car.

  • did u not replace the old exhaust header?

  • Although I have an aftermarket header for this motor, I never installed it. In this video it's running with the stock exhaust manifold.

  • I don't really care what the car does or does'nt do. The man took the time, energy, effort to do something he wanted to do; and he did just that. I love all things Datsun anyway Frankie510.

  • this is a real powerful engine we had one in a 73 celica the original 2tg was taken out and this 18rg was installed resulting to a robust top end speed!

  • 18r ftw!!!

  • Nice engine

  • I sold that engine quite a while ago. It does redline at 9k rpm like lilrobman said. It's a heavy engine though being all steel compared to the aluminum SR20 I'm dropping in it that weighs about half as much.

  • Oh, and the Transmission was also steel compared to the Aluminum one I'm putin in.

  • You'd be surprised how much SR20s weigh. Even though they are made of aluminum, they are made with a lot of it. I weighed a KA24 (iron) and an SR20 (aluminum) and they were less than forty pounds apart. In addition to that, you are a damn fool if you think that 9000 rpms is a feasible redline for this engine.

  • I know, not too much, 2 people picked mine up by hand. Can't compare a KA to a SR.

Also, the 9000 RPM coment was for the Toyota motor in the video.. and it does Redline at 9k.

  • Components have to be built to spin that fast, especially for an engine that old. Valve springs, cams, crankshaft balancing, forged and balanced reciprocating assemblies, etc. An engine can redline to whatever you want it to but if it isn't built for it, it's going to shatter.

  • For whater reason you say makes it a 9k redline motor, it is. For all I know it had done to it. To be honest, I don't care. I took the video to show the engine ran before I took it out. This one redlined at 9k RPM. If it shatters, It's not mine anymore.

  • Man... I fucking hate haters! A person should not have to repeatedly defend something they know as a fact to a fool who knows nothing about what they are commenting on. Fuck gospeedracer!

  • @SwayzeOne noice 9k is a nice number for sure. hopefully mine can do that some day

  • about how many ponnies do you think for this 2 liter dohc monster?

  • ahah i got a 18r-gr in a datsun stanza and ther is nuthing rong with that the 18r-gr pulls 9 thosen rpm and does 190 km/h i no that coz i race my car

  • is that 1.6 2tg engine?

  • It's an 18R-GU.

  • That so wrong!

  • Yeah, I bought it that way and got it running. Runs strong but I sold the Engine and am in the process of swapping in a Nissan SR20. A new post to follow with this swap.

  • NO!!! a toyota in a datsun !???
