all of you who think tht ballet needs to be pretty and think this is boring needs to seriously understand tht this is a contemporary ballet and therefore there is no bounderies. Forsythe choreographs using their legs. and the space in between 2 dancers. i personally love his ballets and hope they continue on for centuries to come.
I do not like it? the music is so strong, so passionate, and the choreography is so balanchine and jazzy? how much can we see of her extension? is like the choreographer wanted to see her incredible arabesque and splits again, and again?
It's neoclassical ballet from a choreographer who was initially inspired by the form and practice of George Balachine. You can say the same for Wheeldon, Dawson, Rhoden... but it's a style?
No... this isn't Artifact suite. it's Steptext - they both use the same music.
sorry salzman steptext was never a trio. always three men and a woman. created actually on a ballerina in reggio emiglia italy. she now runs la scala ballet. but that version is very different to what it is now. dont like how this gal does it. she too long and too loose. needs a girl who needs to fight for it all a bit more. its all about the work and not the ease.

boring... too bad for the choreography, it is all over the place for no reason... at least the music is good, as Balanchine could have said.

even if this is one of bachs cello sonatas, whats with these dancers?
and this is ng (not good) quality
SlipperyChickenzz 2 years ago
It's not a cello sonata - it's the Ciaconne movement from Bach's 2nd *violin* partita.

oh, so harsh
these splits
let the music do that
perhaps some acrobats do it more pure.
where is dance heading...

Also, the version of Steptext I saw was a trio, seems like every iteration of every Forsythe piece are very different from each other
