@yuanpaule True but but it feels so limited. I think Baybayin should be updated like most other written languages. It should be updated in grammatically and in vocabulary.
This is NOT called Alibata. This is BAYBAYIN. Alibata is a very wrong term coined by a professor in the early 1920's. Alibata came from Alifbata, which is the combination of the first three letters in the Arabic alphabet. Our Baybayin is of Indian roots.
is there a R in traditional alibata??? i think if you like to write mandirigma in traditional way it will look like this-----> MA DI DI MA right? correct me if i'm wrong
i know the rules bro me myself is also filipino. my question is, is there a letter R in TRADITIONAL alibata "character" ? wala sa traditional alibata ang letter R , may nag inbento lang ng letter R wala sya sa TRADITIONAL. same lang ang R at D sa traditional alibata. peace!
@agentgokiburi actually there is r in Baybayin, alibata is the incorrect term for pre-spanish pinoy writing incorrectly coinded by Paul Verozsoza in 1914 because he thaught it was rooted in arabic. ok enough about that. you would write mandirigma as
Ma Di Ri Ma But the symbol for di and ri are the same like in da/ra because in tagalog those sounds are interchangable like in marume and madume. in baybayin ri/di use the same symbol so writing it as ma di di ma is correct it is really ma di ri ma
RI and DI are the same right? same symbol right? same alibata character right? look at the guy in the video he wrote RI alibata character not "DI" alibata character.
Regarding the N&G, it's not shown because there's no vowel after it when writing in traditional Baybayin. You must be confusing the cancellation kudlit + that the Spanish introduced. Baybayin is a syllabic writing system that has vowels attached to the consonant. Usually, only names that fit the CCV pattern were known top break the traditional rules.
My only frustration with Baybayin is that there is no symbol for "ra" which could then be written as "ro/ru" and "re/ri".
That would make writing "Mandirigma" cooler. haha

@aa3gunner YOU SHOULDNT BE, because by tradition, the Ra, can be substituted, or should we say, written as Da, or La.

it is in our rules in tagalog that
when d is after a vowel it will be pronounced r
but if d is after a consonant it will be pronounced as it was
ex: mandirigma
d is pronounced as it was because the d is after n(consonant)
while the r is pronounced because it is after a vowel, i.
