@neonpurple1306 That's OK. Everyone has their own opinion, and I welcome all of them! Most of my videos, particularly this one, are geared toward people who have very little experience in the theatre and really just need the basics at this point. I'm not looking to be game changing or extraordinary, just give out little tidbits that hopefully can help a few people. :D
I need your help for choosing monlogue for audition for musical theatre university. I can sing really well but I have never done acting and also English is my second language. So please if you have any advicea about monologue I will be very grateful.
@soposopo84 In choosing a monologue, make sure that #1.) It is something appropriate for your age and gender and #2.) Make sure it is something you are comfortable with linguistically, you can speak it clearly, easily, and comfortably. Lastly, #3.) Find something that is appropriate for the show(s) that you are auditioning for. If it's a comedy, find a comedic piece, drama needs a dramatic piece. Show the director that you are right for a role within the specific work they are directing.
@TheatreTips thank you for your advice, it's not for the show but for the university of musical theatre where I want to study. So I should send them a video of me singing 2 songs and 1 monologue if they like me than they call for audition.
@soposopo84 What is your second language? 1) Find a play of your native language and prepare a monologue in that. It would be quite impressive to see you perform in your natural tongue. 2) Find a translation of that same piece. Or 3) find a play that deals with your language or your country of origin. You should click with the material, so choosing something that is so much a part of you is a huge plus!
@KristiCantu Thank you! I just finished up grad school (explaining my hiatus on this channel!), but now that I'm done, I hope to continue dishing out more fun and interesting tid-bits I've learned along the way! Hope you come back for more!
I've got an audition tomorrow for musical theatre college, i'm so scared it's unbelievable... the last time i sung infront of people was on a stage infront of 500 people in my ballet dancing class it was the sound of music.. and i was 10, i'm now 15, i have to do a one minute monologue... and sing a chorus and a verse of a song, i'm just going to do the start of Roxie from chicago and we have a dance workshop to do but i'm really nervous... Great video!
No problem at all! I love the website and it has been a great help to me at times when learning about new musicals I'm auditioning for... Just glad I could pass on the information!
I get kind of nervous before auditions...ive tried many things, but my voice always gets shaky and uncontrolled. I'm fine performing, but auditions always get me. any tips? thanks!
