You are right about the Subtitles thing, and i do consider them becvause they don't bother me but they bother the people around meso i dont watch many foreign films that much.
About Quarantine, it is a remake of a spanish horror film which was one of my favorite movies from last year (REC) And i hate to say but you saw the poor mans imitation version of (REC). (REC) was FUCKING AWESOME when i saw it, i don't get scared easily in movies and this movie scared the shit out of me. Dude i'm sorry you saw the sucky version of it like most people but if you want to give it another chance, LOOK FOR IT AND WATCH IT IN THE DARK. TRUST ME.
the christians dig into their own holes. Bill Maher just asks questions and lets them explain and he just corrects what they say is wrong. I loved it. And it's got nothing to do with my beliefs. this movie made me laugh and why i think it is great is because it asks hard questions that i think need to be asked. Like mine is How do you know what happens when you die if you've never died before?
Ugh... Quarantine. I couldn't even bring myself to watch it after seeing the (obviously superior) Rec. They should have just brought the original from over the pond, and said "screw the people who are too lazy to read subtitles." lol.
Bill Maher is a genius. That was the funniest movie of the year. You can't give this a review, because you are a Christian. That is like a Jew giving a review of Mein Kampf.
Yeah, that's why I said I was with Bill Maher's side on most of the arguments. Even if I wasn't a christian I probably would have still been annoyed with how ignorantly one-sided the film is. It's not a documentary exploring religion, it's 2 hours of Bill Maher being... Bill Maher.
I wasn't annoyed by how one-sided it was. Also, it is very easy to find stupid Christians, because it is impossible to find a smart one. It is a film of Bill Maher exploiting the stupid ideologies that run with Christianity and its followers. It also shows how much of war mongers theists are and how it is socially, economically, and politically destroying our society. Like Mr. Kincaid said, it doesn't a very good point until the end, with the fairy tail analogy, which is pure brilliance.
I read your profile, and there is no point in talking to you. You are obviously just a close-minded kid that can't accept anyone else's opinions. And no, I know many smart christians. He purposly found stupid christians to make himself look good.
I am not close-minded, so please don't describe me as that. I accept new things, but it takes me a long time to do so. Plus, I just got into this new "atheist" mode, and I believe that this is the mindset that I will have for a very long time. And enough with the subliminal insults such as "kid." There is no such thing as a smart Christian. They have a completely wrong and stupid and inconsistent outlook on life. You need to be saved in a secular way.
No, I'm not, I merely accept reality. Stating an absolute does not constitute close-mindedness. I have spent at least 3 hours a day for the last 6 months looking at religion, and I have yet to find a Christian that wasn't completely idiotic.
Faith is about the most stupid thing imaginable. I have morals, and I didn't need the bible to tell me them. Do you honestly believe that all atheists are immoral?
Not supporting a completely ridiculous cause is the definition of moral. "Kid" is an insult because it is playing along with the stereotype that the younger, the more stupid. Don't forget that you are no more than a year older than me.
well those 2 things don't go together so I don't get the point you are trying to make. But, here's tip. If you want to try to prove that people of your position are not immoral, don't say rude things like our beliefs are fairy tales.
God is a fairy and the bible is a tale... Fairy-Tales.
Eh?
Eh?
Criticism =/= immoral... But then again, being religious makes you a drone to humanity.
But how DARE you go ahead and say I'm not moral because I don't believe in your fucked up fairy tales. Hell, the bible has more immoral shit then any other story.
Yes, that is why I know you are just saying misquotes. God loves homosexuals like he loved everybody else. He just doesn't like their sin, which is their homosexuality.
Are we talking about the same loving "God" which killed millions of people in the bible... Yeah, Job had a great time taking God's horrid abuse. He SUUUREE is loving.
Reall? That's a cool talent for someone wth 1 mouth. Like I just aaid but you ignored because your desperate for something to cry about, he did not necessarily kill them. He destroyed saddam and gamora because they were evil places and refused to stop.
Bill Maher actually goes to intelligent people, and then doesn't attack them, he asks questions.
He also doesn't want to abolish religion he is okay with people believing in what they do. He just does not want their beliefs being pushed on him through violence or public policy.
I didn't say I didn't like him, most of his films don't have a center conflict. Goodfellas, Raging Bull, Taxi Driver and Casino(to name a few) are more of chracter studies/bios that go from 1 problem to another without a consistant story- like this film did.
Hmm. Not quite. You were going off on things that really didn't effect the quality of the film. But I suppose you're right to a degree. Any ways, keep up the good work man. Love your reviews.
I don't know if you've seen Guillermo del Toro's Pan's Labyrinth (El Laberinto del fauno) it's an amazing film and it's all in subtitles. It doesn't bother me at all. You should check it out.
Good Reviews, but I would like to ask one question. Who do you think Bill Maher should have interviewed instead of the crazy Christians? Like, can you site specific people who you think could have defended Christianity?
Kirk Cameron would have been good. Heck, my youth pastors could have owned him. Although Bill Maher would have just ignored the actual argument and cracked a joke to make himself look good.
Kirk Cameron? Really?? I can't say anything about your pastors, but Kirk Cameron? Isn't he one of the geniuses behind "The Crocoduck" and "Banana: The Atheist Nightmare" from WayoftheMaster? I know there have to be more convincing Christians out there.
I do agree that if Bill Maher "debated" them he would have just mocked their arguments, but it's kind of hard to watch a guy try and explain how a banana proves God exists and not laugh.
Religilous was hilarious and he didnt talk to any educated Christians? what about the leader of the Christian science museum? or the senator? those people should have been able to provide adequate responses.
Christians are just generally ignorant and this film shows that.
Yes the film does show that, although it's not true. The christians he talked to couldn't argue, focused on irrelevent things, and misquoted the bible. I could have debated better than them and I know many people who could have.
i never had any desire to watch Religulous cuz i HATE Bill Maher and i was glad that you felt the same way. i kinda liked Quarantine, some of the parts were laughable but it got pretty intense in some parts. I really like foreign films. they open up a whole new world that i have never seen. have you seen Diving Bell and the Butterfly? that is one of my favorite, not just foreign films, but films in general. i highly recommend it

classicrock5 3 years ago
No, it's not. I think denying moral and scientific evidence and still believing in god and the bible is pretty close mined.
Cheshirecat55 2 years ago
Saying someone that has morals and a personel faith cannot be smart is closeminded and ingorant.
GroundedForLife27 3 years ago
Faith is about the most stupid thing imaginable. I have morals, and I didn't need the bible to tell me them. Do you honestly believe that all atheists are immoral?
classicrock5 3 years ago
Sorry kid, but you do not have very strong morals if this how you truly feel.
GroundedForLife27 3 years ago
Yet again with the subliminal insults. I can guarantee that I have a higher moral rating on the Keiper scale than you.
classicrock5 3 years ago
It wasn't an insult. I was simply pointing out that desrciminating against religion is not moral. Goodbye now.

GroundedForLife27 2 years ago
Oh right, OF COURSE, criticism is immoral. Sorry if we're not all mindless creatures.
Cheshirecat55 2 years ago
"I don't believe in your fucked up fairy tales."
"Sorry if we're not all mindless creatures."
Hahaha yeah, you're right.
GroundedForLife27 2 years ago
Awesome rebuttal.
Let me elaborate.
A god that commands the death of any that oppose him, that calls the death of gays, disobedient children, and so on is NOT moral.
You saying we can't criticize religion is close minded.
Cheshirecat55 2 years ago
That calls the death of gay and disobedient children? haha what the heck are you talking about?
GroundedForLife27 2 years ago
Have you actually... Read the bible?
Cheshirecat55 2 years ago
Yes, that is why I know you are just saying misquotes. God loves homosexuals like he loved everybody else. He just doesn't like their sin, which is their homosexuality.
GroundedForLife27 2 years ago
Leviticus 20:13
Are we talking about the same loving "God" which killed millions of people in the bible... Yeah, Job had a great time taking God's horrid abuse. He SUUUREE is loving.
Homosexuality isn't a "Sin", nor is it wrong.
Cheshirecat55 2 years ago
He did not kill homosexuals because they were gay. He destroyed a city where homosexuality and many horrible things were happening.
Well, I think it is wrong.
GroundedForLife27 2 years ago
There is nothing wrong with it...
And still, if he loves everyone, he wouldn't have killed them. You're double speaking.
Cheshirecat55 2 years ago
Reall? That's a cool talent for someone wth 1 mouth. Like I just aaid but you ignored because your desperate for something to cry about, he did not necessarily kill them. He destroyed saddam and gamora because they were evil places and refused to stop.
GroundedForLife27 2 years ago
It's called an expression, smartass.
What are you talking about?
How is destroying a city, but not the people going to solve anything?
It seems to me that you're doing a lot more ignoring.
Cheshirecat55 2 years ago
Well the people were obviously destroyed along with the city but it's not right to say he killed gays because that wasn't the case.
GroundedForLife27 2 years ago
Right... Genocide SURE is moral.
Cheshirecat55 2 years ago
Also, please note that I agree with you on abortion, not for the same reasons, but we aren't opposites. I am also very much a movie fan.
