They're not "practically" the same, they *are* the same! I could have used surfaces, but it is much easier to see the difference with curves than with surfaces. I've found that when teaching the difference, users rarely understand when I explain using surfaces, but often get it right away when I start drawing curves.
It would have been to see some slides with surfaces, but it's wonderfully explained with curves and as told - curves and surface continuities are practically the same.
